SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,730, dated September 20, 1887.

To all whom it may concern..-
Beit known that I, Home KOMORI, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design forGarpets,ofwhich the followingisaspecilication, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets 1o orsiruilar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design. My design comprises a body part, A, and a border, B.
The body A consists of a grained or checkered ground-work, upon which are disposed in an irregular manner single flowers with leaves, or clusters of two or three small flowers with an occasional bud. The flowers are generally circular flowers,and are placed so as to present different sides to view. The whole design has an open appearance.
In the border B there is a narrow inner margin. Next to this are grouped circular flowers and leaves similar to those appearing in the body portion A, but more closely grouped. Above this the design is of an open character, consisting of a grained or checkered o groundwork upon which single flowers or small clusters are scattered. The border is completed by an ornamental figure repeated to form an outer margin.
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure 5 by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a design for carpets, the body A, substantially as shown.
2. Ina design forcarpets,1hc border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and border 13, substantially as shown.
