SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,666, dated August 30,1887.
Serial No. 243,553.

Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following isa specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The acco mpanyingphotograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
My design consists of several similar figures which are disposed irregularly upon the surface of the carpet.
Figure A is an assemblage of star'shaped leaves or flowers ornamented with concentric bands or rings. Around the edges ot'thc group i irregular coral shaped forms project, with a Be it known that l, Janus L. Foison, 0t

Figure B is composed of several star shaped leaves or flowers marked with concentric 25 rings or hands, with coral l'orlns projecting at the sides, and between and around the coralwork pebbled or cellular ornmnentation.

\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design for carpets, consisting of the 5 figure A, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures A, 13, and t, substantially as shown.
