lie it known that I, HnNny Bnnnmnn, (as signer to 1)Av11)Womrnliming) of (Jastlcton, Richmond county, New York, have invented a new Design for a Font of Printing-'lype, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic in'iprcssion, to which reference is made; and it consists of an unshaded letter having at its upper right hand, as in the E, F, H, K, N, U, V,and VV,the short curved line with open-dot termination, and in the A, B, D, E, F, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, P, R, U, V, V, X, and Y, at the upper left hand, the short curved line with dot termination. The short curved line with dot termination is also found at the base of the 13, 1), F, F, H, I, K, L, M, N, I, It, S, T, X, and Y upon the left hand. The faces of the D, O, Q, and U are ornamented by the tendril-like ornaments. The A, F, H, M, X, and Y are ex. tended below the line upon the right. The cross-line of the A and ll terminates upon theleft in the flourish. The C is ornamented upon the right by the inclined line having the dot termination at its base upon the right hand. The rounding portions of the B, G, G, and It terminate in the dot termination. The G and S are ornamented upon the right by the inclined line having the dot termination at its base upon the right hand. Both the upper terminations of the T consist of the curved lines with open-dottermination. The right-hand and lofthand portions of the W extend beyond the central portion looped, as shown. Both terminationsof the Z are formed of the curved lines with open-dot termination.

The character of the design is preserved in the symbol &, the punctuation-marks, the n iimerals, and. the dollar and pound-sterling marks Sminl No. 221,901.

Having described my invention, I claim as new--- The design for a font of printi ng'ty pe, which consists of an unshaded letter having at it upper right hand, as in the 1*], F, H, K, N, U, V, and W, the short curved line with opendot termination, and in the A, B, D, IE, F, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, I, It, U, V', W, X, and Y,at the upper left hand,the short curved line with dot termination, the short curved line with dot termination also found at the base of the B, D, E, F, H, I, 1i, L, M, N, I, R, S, T, X, and Y upon the left hand, the faces of the D, O, Q, and U ornamented by the teudrillike ornaments, the A, F, H, M, X, and Y extended below the line upon the right, the cross-line ol' the A. and H terminating upon the loft in a flourish, the O ornamented upon the right by the inclined line having the dot termination at its base upon the right hand, the rounding portions of the B, (1, G, and It terminating in the dot termination, the G and S ornamented upon the right by the inclined line having the dot termination at its base upon the right hand, both the upper terminations of the T consisting of the curved lines with open-dot termination, the right hand and left-hand portions of the Wextending beyond the central portion looped, as shown, both terminations of the Z formed of the curved lines with open-dot termination, and the character of the design preserved in the symbol &, the punctuation-marks, the nu morals, and dollar and poundsterling marks, all as shown and described.
