DESIGN FOR FONT OF PRINTING-TYPES.

Specification forming part of Design No. 10,447, dated February 12, 1878; application filed August 20, 1877.

Beitknown that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG,(assignor to MAoKELLAn, Snrrns 8: J caning) of the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification:

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic impression, to which reference is made; and consists of a heavy letter of ornamental form, the body of which is further ornamented by a filigree groundwork, filling in the open parts of the faces of the letters. The letters are further ornamented by the open dots centrally formed in the outer edges of the heavy upper and lower ends of the vertical lines, and in the inner edges of the heavy parts of the curved lines, as shown in the letters 13, O, D, G, O, P, Q, and It, and in the outer edges of the heavy terminations of the O, E, F, G, L, S, T, and Z. In the letters A, B, I), E, F, H, I, K, L, M, N, I, It, T, U, V, W, X, and Y the up-and-down parts of the letter are wider at the top and bottom, the same being concaved upon both right and left. The letter A terminates at the bottom in the curled lines, and these curled terminations characterize the rest of the letters, except the J, O, Q, and Z, at both top and bottom. The letters J and U have the curled terminations at the top of the letters. In the letters B and P the central crosslines terminate in the curled terminations. In the letter O the inclined line terminates in the curls at top and bottom. In the letter F the vertical line upon the right terminates in the curl at the bottom.

Having now described my design, what I claim as new is- The design for a font of printing-type, as shown and set forth.
