DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPES.

Specification forming part of Design No. 11,231, dated June 3, 1879 application filed May 3, 1879. [Term of patent 14 years] To all 'whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM W. JACKSON, (assigner to MacKellar, Smiths & J ordan,) of the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Printing-Types, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographie impressions, to which reference is made, and consists of a condensed unshaded letter.

ln the letters A and T the upper cross-portion of the letters is provided with the inclined sides, as shown. The central portion of the letter A is formed of the inclined lines, p

which meet each other at a central point.

In the letter B the rounding portions of the letter meet and form the loop, as shown.

Both the upper and lower terminations of the E, S, and Z have the inclined sides, as shown.

In the F and G the upper right-hand termination has the incline/d sides, as shown.

In the H the cross-inclined portions of the letter form the loop, as shown.

In the letter Kthe lower right-hand portion of the letter, instead ofproceeding from the upand-down portion of the letter, commences at a point to the right of the up-and-down portion, and crosses the upper right-hand portion of the letter.

In the letter L the lower right-hand termination has the inclined side, as shown.

In the letter M the central portions of the letter meet and form the rhomboidal ornament, as shown.

In the letter Q the tail of the letter is-com posed of the inclined line followed by the waved line, as shown.

In the letter R the lower right-hand portion ofthe letter is composed of the inclined line followed by the horizontal line.

In the letter V the up-and-down portions of the letter do not meet at the bottom, as is usual, but are separated and rest upon the horizontal line, as shown.

In the W the central portions o f the letter unite to form the rhomboidal ornament, as shown.

The lower righthand termination of the G and the left-hand termination of the J are followed by the short horizontal line, as shown.

In the figures 2, 3, 4, and 5 the horizontalline terminations are found, the inclined-side termination in the 1, 2, and 7, and in the (i and 9 the vertical-line termination.

What I claim as new is- The design for a font of lprinting-types, as shown and described.
