DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 20,506, dated February 3, 1891. Application filed October 31, 1889. Serial No. 328,846. Term of patent 14 years.
.To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. HEYER, a citizen ol the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Printing-Type, set forth in the following specification, reference being had tothe accompanying typographical impressions, forming a part thereof.
This design comprises capitals, character &, dollar-mark, points, figures, and lowe r-case letters. In general it is a heavy-faced somewhat ornamental and quite condensed style of letter, approaching the general character of Gothic type, being entirely Without hair- Iines and having very few tapering shades.
Another special characteristic of this design is exhibited in the second form of capital E, second form of capital L, and in capital J,
consisting of the lower terminals of said letters, respectively. This terminal is a very heavy relatively-short upwardly-convex crescent swell, which merges in the lower stroke of the letter and is more than a half-circle in extent, so that its terminal horn, which is sharp, points inward-that is, toward the commencement of the crescent form.
I claim- The design for a font of printing-type herein shown and described.
