To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY BREHMER, (assignor to DAVID WOLFE Bacon) of Castleton, Richmond county,New York, have invented an original Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic impression, to which reference is made; and it consists of an ornamental letter shaded upon the right by a light line following the configuration of the letter.

The cross ornament of the A and H consists of two heavy curved lines meeting about centrally. The central ornament-of the E is formed of a curved line from which extends downward a short inclined line. The central ornament of the F consists of a curved line from which extends downward a vertical line. The lower right-hand termination of the G consists of a vertical line, from the upper portion of which extends upon the left a short horizontal line. The B, O, D, G, J, O, P, Q, R, S, and U are composed of a series of short angular lines, as shown, the B and D having upon the left a vertical line from which these angular lines proceed. The 0 presents the appearance of a rhombns. Both the upper and lower terminations of the E upon the right hand, and the righthand termination of the F, and the lower right-hand termination of the L consist of an inclined line the termination of which is inclined outward. Both terminations of the T and Z are of the same character. The righthand and left-hand portions of the W extend above the central portion ornamented by the two short heavy inclined lines.

The character of the design is preserved in the symbol 8:, the punctuation marks, the

numerals, and the dollar and ponndsierling marks.

I claim as ncw- The design for a font of printing-type, as herein shown and described, the same consisting of an ornamental letter shaded upon the right by a light line following the configura tion of the letter, the cross ornament of theA and H consisting of two heavy curved lines Inceting about centrally, the central ornament of the E formed of a curved line from which extends downward a short inclined line, the central ornament of the F consisting of a curved line from which extends downward a vertical line, the lower right-hand termination of the G formed of a vertical line from the upper portion of which extends upon the left a short horizontal linc, the B, C, D, G, J, 0, 1, Q, R, S, and U composed of a series 01' short angular lines, the B and D having upon the left a vertical line from which these angular lines proceed, theO presenting the appearance of a rhombus, both terminations of the E upon the right hand, the right-hand termination ofthe F, and the lower right termination of the L consisting of an inclined line the termination of which is inclined outward, and both terminations of the T and Z of the same character, the right-hand and left-hand portions of the \V extended above the central portion ornamented by the two short heavy inclined lines, and the character of the design preserved in the symbol 8:, the punctuationmarks, the numerals, and the dollar and poundsterling marks.
