DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,873, dated April 24, 1883.

Application tiled March 23, 1853. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG, (assigner to DAVID WOLEE BRUCE,) of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Printing- Types, of which the following is a specitication. The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographie impression, to 1o which referenceis made; and it consists of an ornamental letter shaded upon the right by a lighter line. The letters are ornamented by the curling ornament terminating in the heavy dot. The A and F have upon the upper right hand this curling ornament, followed below by a short curved line terminating in the dot, and a similar ornamentation is found in the J and M at the upper left hand, and in the V at the lower left hand. The A, B, D, G, H, K, M, N, 2o Q, R, WV, and X are extended below the line.

The A, H, K, M, N, Q, R, W, and X are ornamented at the base by the short horizontal line. 1n the B, H, N, Q, and W this line terminates in the dot termination, and in the K, R, and X :5 this termination is followed by the lines curling one above and the other below, and having the dot termination. In the X this termination is followed by a dot placed about centrally, and in the M this horizontal line is followed by the heavy square placed transversely, fol lowed by the dot. The X is crossed about centrally by the line curved to the right upon onel side of the letter and terminating in the dot, and curved upon the left to the right and terminating in the dot. In the Y the left-hand lower curved termination is ornamented above by the three heavy dots placed above each other.

In connection with the font are shown a series of ornamental afxes, numbered from one to nineteen, and reference is made to the t vp0 graphicimpression, which shows tlleexact contiguration of their faces.

Having now described my invention, I claim as new- The design for a font of printing-types, as shown and described.
