No. 13,700. Patented Mar. 6,1883.
ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANDREW LITTLE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,700, dated March 6, 1883.
Application led January ,13, 1883. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ANDREW LITTLE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographieimpression, to which reference is made;` and it consists of an unshaded letter. In the A, C, I), H, L, N, O, Q, and U vthe letters are ornamented about centrally by the light inclined parallel lines, 'and the E and F are ornamenti-d by the light parallel horizontal lines. ln the O, D, E, F, G, L, P, 1t, S, T, U, Y, and 2 thevourling termination followed by the light dot is found. The upper right-hand portion ot' the K terminates in the dot, as shown. In the M the right and left hand central portions of the letter form the triangular ornament at the base of the letter, and this triangular termination is found at the base of theV, and also at the upper portion of the W. In the S the upper righthand termination is followed by the curved termination crossing the letter and having the dot termination. The T is crossed upon the right-hand by the light vertical line. In the symbol & and the dollar-mark the curved termination followed bythe dotis found. In the figures 2, 3, 7, and 9 the curved termination followed by the dot is found.
The character of the design is preserved in the lower-oase and punctuation-marks, the g, j, k, and 2 terminating in the curved termination followed by the dot, and the w havingthe central triangnlarornament already described.
Having now setforth myinven tion, Iclaim- The'design for a. font of printingtype, as shown and described.
ANDREW LITTLE.
In presence oil- WILLIAM V. H. HICKS, y A. SIDNEY DoANE.
