To all whom 4it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW LITTLE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a newr and original Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification:
The nature ot' my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographie impression, to which reference is made, and consists of 'a skeleton letter, the np and down strokes of which are made heavier at the'top and bottom than in the center.
In the letters A, H, I, K, L, M, N, V, W, and X the up and down strokes of the letter' are provided with the triangular terminations at top and bottom,` as shown. In the letters B, D, and E'the horizontal lines terminate angularly where they7 cross the up and down line at top and bottom. -In the letters F, P, R, and T the up and down line ot' the letter is provided with a triangular termination at' the bottom, and the horizontal line terminates angularly where it crosses the up and down line of the letter. In the letters C, D, G, 0, Q, S, U, and Z the letter is made heavier at the top and bottom than centrally. The upper rounded portion of the letter O terminates triangnlarly. The lower rounded portion of the letter G terminates triangularly. lhe rounded portions of the letter S terminate triangularly. The letter U terminates triangularly at the tup, and the letter Z is provided with the triangular terminations. The letter J is provided with the triangular termiuatiou at the top, and its lower portion terminates in a round or ball termination.
In the lower-ease letters the peenliarityr of making the letters heavier at top and bottom than centrally is preserved, as also the trianguiar terminations, as shown in the letters b, h, l, m, and others.
In the figures 1 and 4 the triangular terminations' are used, as well as the combination of heavy and light lines, and the latter are used in the other gnres.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, is-
The design for a font of printing-type, as shown and described.
