Be it known that I, EDWIN O. RUTHVEN, of the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and originated a new Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic impression, to which reference is made; and it consists of an ornamented letter shaded upon the right and bottom by a series of short light lines following the configuration of the letter. The left-hand portion of the A extends below the line and terminates in the heavy-dot termination. Its central portion, as is the case with the H, consists of the flourish extending-beyond the upand-down portions of the letter upon the right and the left. The F, G, H, J M, N, and Tare extended below the line, and the curved lines followed by the heavy-dot termination are found in the B, C, E, F, J, K, L, M, N, P, S, T, and Z, as shown. In the D and P the upand-down portion of the letter does not extend to meet the upper rounding portion of the letter. I

The character of the design is preserved in the lower-case and figures.

Having now described myinvention, I claim as new The design for a font of printing-type, as shown and described.
