DESIGN FOR A FONT OF TYPE SPECIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 24,683, dated September 17, 1895.
Application filed February 9,1895. Serial No. 587,838. Term ofpaient 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known th at I, WILmAM P. QUENTELL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, have invented acertain Design for a. Font of Type, of which the Following is a specification.
My design for a font of type is clearly illustrated in the accompanying typographical impression.
The general character of the design is that of a plain-letter font having heavy vertical lines and light eross-lines,the special features of the design being the particular characteristics of certain of the letters, as hereinafter set forth.
In the upper-case letters the right-hand line of the letter A is heavy and the left-hand line light, terminating in a square base projecting beyond the line. The cross-bar is made up of two light lines.
The left-hand vertical lines of the letters B, D, E, F, P, and R are heavy, and the crosslines light, while the curved lines of the letters 13, D, G, P, Q, R, and S are heavy at the center and merge into light cross-lines.
The vertical lines of the letter H are heavy and the cross-bar is composed of two light lines. One vertical line of the letter M is heavy and the other light, and oneinolinetl line of the letter M is heavy and the other light. Both vertical lines of the letter N are light and the inclined line heavy. The vertical line of the letter-T is heavy and the cross-line at the top light. The left-hand lines of the letters U and V are heavy and the right-hand lines light.
The other letters of the upper-case are in keeping with the peculiar features of the letters mentioned above, and the lower-case letters carry out the general features of design found in the upper-case.
I claim- The design for a font of type as herein described and as shown in the accompanying typographical impression.
