DESIGN FOR A FONT OF TYPE.

To a whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES H. BEELER, 3, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a certain Design for Type, of which the following is a specification.

My design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographical impression, which illustrates the upper-case letters, the lower-case letters, and the numerals.

The main feature of the design is the peculiar efi'ect given to the type by the straight head-line and the irregular base-line. A number of the characters of the upper case extend below the base-line and the lines of a number of the letters are tapered and terminate in enlarged ends. For instance, the right-hand lines of the letters A, H, K, M, and R are tapered and inclined and slightly curved, ex-

tending below the base-line; the lower portion of each letter (J, F, G, J, P, and T also extends below the base-line and terminates in a curved enlargement, and the lower bars of the letters E, L, and Z are inclined and extend below the line.

The lower-case letters and numerals are in keeping with the upper-case letters.

I claim- The design for a font of type as herein described and shown in the aoconipan ying typographical impression.
