Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG, (assigner to DAVID 'WoLEE BRUoE,) of the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original design fora font of printing-type, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographie impression;

and it consists of an ornamented letter having the heavy triangular termination at the base, as shown in the A, B, D, E, F, H, I, K, L, M, N, P, T, V, WV, and X, which triangular termination is also found at the top ofthe B, D, E, F, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, P, U, V, W, X, and Y. In the A, H, M, and W the central lines of the letter are lighter than the up and down portions, and looped, as shown. curved line with dot termination is found upon the upper left hand of the Aand Z, and upon the upper right hand of the F, L, N, and P, in the lower right-hand termination of the Gand Z, in the crossline of the EK, in both the upper terminations of the T, and in the lower The- Term of patent 14 years.

In the letter R the heavy triangular terminations are found at the top and bottom of t-he upand-down portion, and in the lower right-hand termination. The upper righthaud portion is spurred, as 3o shown, and the central portion of the letter is looped, as shown. Several of the letters, notably the B, D, G, 0, Q, and U. are either spurred or ornamented by the heavy dot, as shown, and the inclined line with dot termination fol- 35 lowing the curved ends of the same crosses the S, as shown.

The character of the design is preserved in the punctuation-marks, the numerals, and in the dollar and pound marks.
