DESIGN FOR A NEWEL-POST.
SPECIFICATION forming part Aof Design No. 12,025, dated November 9, 1880.
Application filed August 28, 1580. Term of patent' 7 years.

Be it known that I, HENRY Tnx'ron, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have originated and produced a new and Improved Design for Newel Posts, of which the following is a specification.
The character of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying drawing, which represents a perspective View of a newel-post elnbodying my design.
The base A is composed of a polygonal or rectangular portion, a, having ilat faces, a surmountng convex molding, b, ahollow molding, c, and anat-faced band-lke molding, d.
The body portion B of the post is polygonal in its horizontal section and tapers slightly' from its lower end upward. Upon each of its sides or panels, near the lower corners, are scroll ornaments c, between and slightly above which are striated ornamentsf, consisting of parallel lines. At about the center of each side are scrollcd ornaments g g, which are made right and left and arranged upon each side of and slightly away from a central line, h. In the center of each side, near the top, is a sunken rose or rosette, i.
The capital or cap C of the post is composed of a variety ol' ornaments, there being, first, a bead, j, a snrmonnting ontwardly-projeeting molding, if, the top ol' which inclines inward, a convex molding, l, having a fillet, m. above and below it, and an urn-like iinial ornament, n.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A design for the side or panel of anewelpost, consisting of the right and left scroll or naments g g and the central sunken rose or rosette, i, as specified.
2. A design for thc side or panel of a newelpost, consistingof the corner scroll ornaments e, the striated ornaments 1', the right and left scroll ornaments g g, and the sunken rose or rosette z', as specified.
8. A design for a newel-post, consisting of 45 lthe base A, the body B, having' the right and left scroll ornaments g g, and the snnkcn rose or rosette 1' upon each face, and the molded cap (l, as specified.
