SOCK AND LIKE SUSPENDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 4, 1911.
Application filed December 7, 1910. Serial No. 596,097.
1 I This invention relates to hose supporters and has for an object to provide improved means for supporting a stocking or other article of apparel upon the leg of the wearer and providing metal parts and means for maintaining the metal parts out of contact with the person ofthe wearer. I
A further object of the invention is to provide a band proportioned to encircle the .leg of the wearer with a pad or shield inseparably connected with one end of the band and separably connected with the other end of the band and with an elastic cord fasinvention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
The drawing shows the device in side elevation.
- The hose supporter which forms the subject matter of this application comprises a band 1 which may or may not be elastic as the elasticity of said band is not essential to the present invention.
To one end of the band 1 a pad or shield 2 is secured in any approved manner to serve as a shield for the supporting member or fastener 3 which is adapted for connection with a stocking. This fastening member is of any well known or approved form and no claim or disclosure is made of any specific fastening member. The fastening member 3 is connected to elastic cords 4: and 5 which after connection with such fastening member 3 pass through a tapered guiding memher 6 which is rigidly secured to the pad 2. One of the elastic cords as 4 passes to the fastening member 7 by which it is inseparably secured to the band 1 and to the up-- per ear of the pad 2. The otherelastic cord 5 after passing through the guide 6 engages the fastening member 8 which is inseparably secured to the pad 2 and is provided with a hook for receiving the eye 9 carried by the end of the'band 1.
In operation the band 1 is put about the leg of the wearer with the pad 2 at the position where it is desired to support the stocking. The lower extremity of the pad 2 should be inserted within the stocking and the stocking pulled up over such extremity and secured by connection with the fastening member 3. It will then be apparent that the elastic cords 4: and 5 are directly in support of the stocking while the pad 2 is positioned upon the leg in such manner that it is not necessary that itmove to provide the necessary resiliency for use.
' We claim:
The combination with substantially a triangular pad, of a band inseparably connected with one corner and separably connected with another corner, a guide member located substantially centrally of the pad, elastic cordsconnected with the pad adjacent its connections with the band and passing through the guide member and a fastener carried upon the extremities of the cords and disposed adjacent the third corner of the pad.
In testimony whereof we .aflix our signatures in presence oftwo witnesses.
