Description

S. LEVIN TROUSERS SUPPOBTER. APPLICATION FILED SEPT: 10, 1908.
W/TNE SE8 INVENTOH. z ,JamueZZevz'w Patented Oct. 12,1909.
SAMUEL LEVIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TROUSERS-SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 12, 1909.
Application filed September 10, 1908. Serial No. 452,363.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL LEVIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Trousers-Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention belongs to that class of trousers supporters in which a belt is retained by loops or such analogous devices arranged at the inside of the trousers along the waistline.
The invention has for its purpose to provide such a construction in which the belt is of elastic material, wholly contained within the trousers, and has wire loops or their equivalent attached to its, opposite ends" and adapted to engage over a button at the front of the trousers in holding the latter in place; also to provide in connection with the belt, adjacent to its ends, drawers supporters which engage with the supporting loops of the trousers when the ends of the belt are detached, and prevent the passage of said ends therethrough.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the upper portion of a pair of trousers having my improved supporter applied thereto; Fig. 2 is a similar view partly broken away looking from rear to front, with the ends of the elastic belt connected; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the drawers supporters.
I apply my improvements to trousers and other like garments 5, having any usual construction, that shown consisting of a conventional pair of trousers. On the inside of the waistband or waistline of the trousers the same are provided with loops 6, of the usual construction and arrangement, for receiving a belt 7. This belt is made of elastic material and is attached to the front of the trousers in applyin the supporter to the body, so that it wil be wholly contained v within the trousers, leaving no portion visible from the outside. This connection with the trousers is effected by providing the ends of the belt with wire loops 8 having outer reduced portions, and providing the fly of the trousers with a button 9, over which the enlarged portions of the loops are adapted to be passed in engaging the reduced portions of the loops, as illustrated in Fig. 2. This manner of attaching the belt to the trousers keeps the latter pulled outat the front and prevents any gathering of the cloth at this point. The button 9 in that form of my invention shown is made to serve not only as a means for connecting the loops 8 but also for buttoning the fly of the trousers.
In connection with the belt I preferably provide drawers supporters 10, which, as best shown in Fig. 3, are made of sheet metal having overlapping tongues 11 arranged at the front. These supporters are sewed or otherwise applied to the belt at such distances from the ends of the latter that they will engage the supporting loops of the trousers and prevent the belt from crawling therethrough by reason of its elasticity, when the ends are detached, and accordingly the wire loops 8 of the belt will always be found in proper position to engage them over the button in putting on the trousers.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
An elastic belt adapted to support a garment having belt loops, means to secure the ends of the belt, and drawers supporters attached to the belt adjacent to its ends,
adapted to engage with certain of said loops "when the ends of the belt are released from name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
SAMUEL LEVIN.
Witnesses:
