SIMON EICHBERG, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
Application filed November 29, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIMON EIOHBERG, a citizen of the United States,.and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements 1n hose supporters or garters and has for its object the provision of an improved construction of this character, which is readily adjustable, dispenses with the use of buckles, and is simple and eflicient in use.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will. be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and 1n which Figure 1, is a face view of a supporter embodying the invention,
Fig. 2, side view thereof, and
Fig. 3, a view showing the supporter in position of use.
The form of construction illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 comprises a strip 5 of elastic material adapted to be secured at its up or end to a corset, band, or other support he strip 5 is provided on its outer side with a reinforcing strip 6, also of elastic, anda plurality of eyes 7 are secured to the strip 6, as shown. A wire loop 8 is secured to the lower end of the elastic strip 5, and a tongue 9 of non-elastic cloth is also secured either to the loop 8 or to the lower end of the elastic 5. A hook 10 is secured to the upper free end of the tongue 9 and is adapted to engage the eyes 7 A. strip 11 of nonelastic material is also secured to loop 8 and is provided at its lower end with the usual hose fastener 12. i It will be observed that the strip 11 constitutes a tensile element fixed to the end of the elastic strip so as to be incapable of movement relatively to the said strip dur ing use. Likewise, the tongue9 and hook Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 13, 1921.
Serial No. 264,608.
1O constitutes a fastening element also fixed to the end of the elastic strip and to the corresponding end of the tensile element 11.
By this arrangement it will be observed that the length of the supporter may be readily adjusted by engaging the hook 10 with one of the eyes 7 thus forming a loop 13 in the elastic strip 5-6 which is relieved of all strain will lie flat against the person of the wearer. The construction set forth dispenses with the use of all buckles and employs only constructions which will lieflat and be comfortable to the wearer.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A hose supporter comprising a strip of elastic consisting of an inner wider strip and an outer narrower strip secured to the outer face of said wider strip; eyes arranged at intervals on the outer side of said narrower strip; a loop fixed to the lower end of said elastic; a laterally extending tongue also fixed to the lower end of said elastic and having a hook at its free end adapted to engage said eyes; a tensile element in the form of a strip of non-elastic material fixed to the lower end of said elastic strip; and a hose fastener at the lower end of said tensile element, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
SIMON EICHBERG.
