Description

W. l. KELLY.
HOSE SUPPORTER.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 26. 1921.

WmlKeu INVENTOR ATT RNEY WILLIAM .1. KELLY, or younes'rown, OHIO.
HOSE SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Feb, 21, 1922.
Application filed May 26, 1921. Serial No. 472,855.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that WILLIAM J. KELLY, citizen of the United States of America, residing at Youngstown, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved hose supporter, the object being to provide an exceedingly cheap and simple device, which can be easily attached to the legs of the drawers at a convenient point, and by means of which the hose can be properly supported, and the necessity of elastic bands or straps encircling the leg entirely avoided.
' Hose supporters or garters embodying an elastic band or strap in their construction,
' soon become impaired, and in order to maintain them in their proper position it becomes necessary to adjust them to such an extent that they are bound too closely about the leg. This binding has a tendency to retard circulation and in many instances is the direct result of a permanent injury to the limb. This objection is entirely avoided by means of a constructiton shown herein and described.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device in which various vertical adjustments can be made.
Another object of the invention is to provide an enlarged circular support end in order to reduce the strain on the garment to which the device is attached to the minivVith these objects in view, my invention consists essentially in the employment of an inelastic strap adapted to be connected by means of sewing, or otherwise,to the'drawer legs and having in conjunction therewith an elastic strap provided with a grip member at each end adapted to grip the upper portion of a hose and the inverted pockets formed in the side of the inelastic strap.
The invention consists also in the details of construction and combination of parts length garment, or a garment approaching that length.
Figure 2 is an elevational view of thedevice as attached to garment where the garment extends down into the hose.
It will, of course, be understood that Iemploy a hose supporter for each stocking, and a. description of one device will suflice for the garment, but is distributed over a large number of the series of materials forming the cloth from whlch the garment is made.
It will also be understood that this device This strap 1 has a plurality of inverted pockets 4 used to adjust the length of the hose supporter as desired. This is done by inserting the inner portion of the grip 5 within the pocket, and forcing the outer portion 6 of the grip 5 over the button 7. This grip 5 is attached to an elastic strip 8,
having a similar grip '5 at its lower end,"
which is in turn attached to a sock 9. This elastic strip 8 may be adjusted by means of an ordinary buckle 10.
By referring to Figure 1 it will be seen i that I have shown the device attached to a garment approximately knee-length, and have secured the grip 5 to the sock 9 of-thc lower end, the upper end of the same being attached to the lower end of the strap 1 at point 11.
In a device of the class described, an unelastic strap provided with a plurality of inverted pockets, the upper end-of said 1111-. elastic strap having an. enlarged circular portion, an elastic strap provided with grips at both ends for the purpose of gripping the outer portion of the inverted pockets and attaching to hose, substantially as described for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature. WILLIAM J. KELLY. Witnesses:
