結果,需要建立可容許消費者建立所接收之媒體內容的短片及以尊重內容擁有者之權利的一方式分享此等短片的系統、方法及/或裝置。將從隨後具體描述及附加之申請專利範圍、連同附圖及此先前技術部分明白此等及其他所需之特徵及特性。
根據多種例示性實施例,描述用於基於一所接收之媒體串流提供長度可變媒體短片之系統及方法。用於提供媒體短片至使用者之一例示性系統包含:一資料庫,該資料庫包括與複數個節目相關聯之一規則清單;以及一第一伺服器及一第二伺服器。第一伺服器接收關於正藉由一媒體播放器觀看之一特定節目的資訊及自用於經識別之節目的資料庫獲得規則,該等規則係傳輸至媒體播放器。第二伺服器接收正藉由媒體播放器觀看之該特定節目的一媒體短片,其中在該媒體播放器處根據相對應於特定節目之規則建立該媒體短片,且隨後使得該媒體短片可供使用者取用。

在又其他實施例中,一種自一媒體串流適當地建立一長度可變媒體短片的方法包括:在一媒體播放器裝置處接收一媒體串流;獲得與節目相關聯之一最大短片長度;接收長度可變媒體短片之一開始點及一結束點的同時,將長度可變媒體短片之長度維持於小於最大短片長度;及提供所建立之短片至一遠端伺服器。

根據多種例示性實施例,提供系統及技術以用於自在一媒體播放器處接收之一媒體串流建立長度可變媒體短片。播放器可將關於當前正觀看之所接收的媒體串流或一節目之資訊提供至一遠端定位伺服器以獲得關於建立媒體短片之一或多個規則。例如,規則可包含基於短片之源的節目名稱、網路或其他特定資訊而決定的一最大可容許短片長度以及關於顯示或分配短片之任何限制。其他規則可限制短片品質或其他參數及/或可限制其他行為(諸如是否記錄短片或類似行為)。可如所需公式化或應用任何數量之不同規則。媒體播放器根據所接收之規則建立短片及提供短片至一分配伺服器,以分配或與其他使用者分享。在多種實施例中,關於短片之顯示或分配的任何限制可包含於與短片自身相關聯之元資料中,以藉此容許分配伺服器實施特定短片之規則。

媒體播放器應用程式130係能夠處理所接收之媒體串流125以建立一或多個媒體短片107A-C之任何程式、應用程式、小應用程式(applet)、瀏覽器外掛程式、軟體模組及/或其他邏輯。在多種實施例中,媒體播放器應用程式130亦含有用於解碼所接收之串流125以在顯示器132或類似物上重播的解碼器功能性。媒體播放器應用程式130可以任何程式設計語言實施,且其可以原始碼或目的碼格式儲存於任何儲存媒體中,該儲存媒體包含媒體播放器102可用之記憶體124及/或任何種類之磁碟或其他大容量儲存器。在一例示性實施方案中,媒體播放器應用程式130係以目的碼格式儲存於一磁碟或類似媒體上直至由使用者啟動的一軟體程式。接著,部分或完全複製程式130至記憶體124以促進藉由處理器122執行目的碼指令。將在下文參考圖4至圖7描述可由媒體播放器應用程式130提供之多種介面的實例,然而任何其他介面可用於替代實施例中。

網路110係能夠在發送器與接收器之間傳輸訊息之任何數位或其他通信網路。在多種實施例中,網路110可包括一或多個廣域網路、區域網路及/或廣域及區域網路之任何組合,其等包含任何種類之無線或其他電話網路。網路110可包含支援任何數量之通信協定的任何數量之公用或私用資料連接、鏈路或網路。網路110可包含例如網際網路或基於TCP/IP之任何其他網路或其他習知協定。在許多實施例中,網路110亦可包含一或多個習知區域網路,諸如一或多個IEEE 802.3及/或IEEE 802.11網路。接著如在圖1中所示之網路110意欲廣泛地包括用於在系統100之多種組件之間傳輸資料的任何(諸)數位通信網路、系統或架構。
如上文所指出,在一些實施例中,媒體播放器102經由網路110自一或多個易地播放裝置112接收媒體串流125。在此等實施例中,易地播放裝置112封包化自一媒體源115接收之媒體內容以經由通信網路110傳輸。媒體源115可包含:任何媒體內容源,其包含任何種類之數位或類比記錄裝置(舉例來說,一數位視訊記錄器);任何廣播、有線電視或衛星電視節目源;任何「視訊點播」或類似源;用於任何種類之數位視訊光碟(DVD)或其他可卸除式媒體的一播放器;一安全或其他視訊攝影機;及/或類似物。當存在易地播放裝置112時,則該易地播放裝置112係能夠經由網路110傳輸媒體內容之一封包化流的任何組件、硬體、軟體邏輯及/或類似物。雖然圖1僅繪示一單個易地播放裝置112,但實際上系統100可包含任何數量之易地播放裝置112及/或媒體源115,其等之每一者可將媒體內容串流傳輸至媒體播放器102。再次,不必在所有實施例中要求易地播放。

如上文所指出,通常希望只要可保護內容擁有者之權利,就容許觀看者自媒體串流125建立短片以與其他觀看者分享。在多種實施例中,媒體播放器102與一資料中心系統103通信,該資料中心系統103提供與包含於媒體串流125內之特定節目或網路相關聯的剪輯規則以容許發生此剪輯。如在圖1中所示之資料中心系統103包含一資料庫105、一剪輯規則伺服器(「CRS」)104及適當之一媒體分配伺服器106。可使用任何種類之習知網路伺服器硬體實施伺服器104及106。系統103之多種實施例亦可包含CRS伺服器104及/或媒體分配伺服器106之冗餘伺服器以及習知地出現於一典型網路服務系統中的適當之備份、負載平衡、安全性及其他特徵。
資料庫105包含將剪輯規則與特定節目、頻道及/或網路相關聯之任何種類的資料收集或儲存庫以及容許存取資料之任何種類的資料庫引擎或類似物。在多種實施例中,資料庫105搭配可以任何方式組織的任何種類之習知關聯、階層式、物件導向或其他資料結構實施。資料庫105通常包含相對應於適當之特定節目及/或網路的任何數量之項目。與任何適當之特定節目及/或網路相關聯的規則可包含關於短片分享、短片分配、短片顯示及/或類似物之規則。短片分享規則可包含(例如)設定剪輯是否被容許之規則、一最大短片長度、其中封鎖剪輯之一節目的一部分及/或所需之其他規則。短片分配規則可包含關於短片是否可被分享之限制以及關於可接收短片之當事者(舉例來說,每個人、註冊會員、短片製作者之朋友等等)的任何限制。短片顯示規則可包含關於短片可取用性之時間限制或其他限制(舉例來說,封鎖一特定節目之短片直至某一時間)。例如,此等特徵在以下方面係有益的:防止觀看最初於一靠東部時區(舉例來說,EST)播放的一節目之短片,直至已在一靠西部時區(舉例來說,PST或Hawaii-Aleutian時間)播放相同節目。亦可強加時間限制以防止自一原始廣播剪輯,但卻容許在原始廣播之後歷時一適當時間段之後自DVR記錄或類似物剪輯。其他規則可限制存取一特定短片之使用者的數量、可建立之短片的品質(舉例來說,關於解析度、位元速率或圖框速率或任何其他參數之任何限制)、關於進一步複製、顯示、編輯或類似操作之限制及/或所需之任何其他限制。可關於短片建立、顯示、處理、分配及/或類似操作之任何態樣公式化規則。
如上文所指出,規則可與特定節目、網路、頻道及/或其他所需之特徵相關聯。在多種實施例中,規則可與特定節目相關聯以根據特定節目之某些約束容許剪輯。例如,對於一些節目可完全封鎖剪輯,而對於其他,則容許剪輯或具約束性地容許剪輯。若需要,亦可描述整個頻道或網路之剪輯規則。在此等實施例中,可對出現於該頻道或網路上之所有節目定義一組剪輯約束。進一步,若需要,可定義併入節目名稱及頻道或網路二者的規則。例如,此等規則可容許封鎖一節目之新影集的剪輯,而容許可在另一頻道或網路上聯合播放之較舊影集的剪輯。可建立規則來以任何方便之方式促進與內容擁有者的任何種類之授權或其他商業安排。
CRS伺服器104係能夠自一或多個媒體播放器102接收查詢及能夠作為回應而自資料庫105傳回一或多個規則的任何系統、組件或邏輯。在多種實施例中,CRS伺服器104接收關於當前正由一特定媒體播放器102接收之媒體串流125的資訊及自資料庫105獲得與特定節目或網路相關聯之特定規則。接著此等規則可提供回至媒體播放器102以根據為該特定節目、網路及/或頻道所定義之規則來容許或不容許剪輯。
媒體分配伺服器106係能夠自一或多個媒體播放器102接收媒體短片107A-C及能夠為系統100之其他使用者提供對多種短片之存取的任何系統、組件或邏輯。在多種實施例中,使用習知網路伺服器硬體(包含任何所需之冗餘、負載平衡、備份及類似物)實施媒體分配服務,以提供經由網路110對檔案之存取。但是,媒體分配伺服器106係經進一步組態以實施關於特定短片之分配及/或顯示的多種規則。在一些實施例中,可直接自資料庫105接收此等規則。在其他實施例中,接收由媒體分配伺服器106實施之特定規則以作為包含於短片107A-C自身內的元資料。
媒體短片107A-C之分配及顯示可以任何方式發生。例如,可以一串流格式提供短片107A-C,或可以容許使用者下載及保存短片107A-C之本端複本的一基於檔案格式提供短片107A-C。在多種實施例中,可使用自伺服器105獲得之規則限制或者決定下載或呈現之類型。
可以任何方式存取上載至伺服器106之短片107A-C。在多種實施例中,一或多個使用者(舉例來說,電腦系統108之一使用者)可使用一習知瀏覽器程式或類似物、經由網路110存取一或多個短片107A-C。伺服器106可實施任何種類之帳戶管理方案(舉例來說,基於使用者識別碼/密碼組合或其他憑證)或可容許對一些或所有短片107A-C之公用存取。可以任何方式朝特定短片指導使用者。可提供容許關鍵字搜尋或基於節目名稱、網路、頻道、男演員/女演員名字或類似物之搜尋的一搜尋引擎。在多種實施例中,建立一短片107A-C之一使用者可轉遞一郵件或其他訊息至一或多個其他使用者,該郵件或其他訊息包含特定短片107A-C的一鏈路(舉例來說,一統一資源定位符(URL))或其他識別符。
為了自一所接收之媒體串流125建立一短片107A-C,接著媒體播放器102適當地獲得與自CRS伺服器104觀看之特定節目或網路相關聯的一或多個短片規則。例如,規則可包含特定節目或網路所容許之一最大短片長度。媒體播放器102接著容許觀看者建立在特定節目之所接收的規則約束內的一短片,及上載短片107A-C至伺服器106以在由內容擁有者制定之規則的進一步約束內分配至其他者。藉由提供與為短片107之源材料的特定節目或網路相關聯之規則,可在保護內容擁有著之權利的同時仍提供容許明顯靈活地建立及分配媒體短片107A-C的靈活性。將參考圖2描述關於用於建立一短片107A-C之一例示性處理程序的額外細節,且可以任何方式修改及/或增強其他實施例。
參考圖2,用於建立一視訊短片107之一例示性處理程序200適當地涉及收集關於媒體串流之資訊(步驟210),基於所收集之資訊自WIO伺服器104獲得與節目或網路相關聯之規則及在所接收之規則的約束內建立與分配短片107。
可以任何方式在媒體播放器102處接收內容125。如上文所描述,在圖2中所示之例示性實施例中,在媒體播放器102處自一遠端定位之易地播放裝置112接收內容。在此等實施例中,回應於從播放器102發送至易地播放裝置112(舉例來說,經由網路110)之一請求202,開始接收內容。易地播放裝置112提供紅外線或其他指令204至一受控制裝置115(舉例來說,一DVR或接收器)以獲得所請求之內容。此內容作為一影音信號206提供至易地播放裝置112,該易地播放裝置112繼而轉換編碼或者處理所接收之資料以建立如所需可提供208至媒體播放器102之一媒體串流125。但是,如上文更完整地描述,其他實施例可自除了易地播放裝置112之外的任何其他本端或遠端源獲得媒體串流125。即,許多等效實施例可自一本端接收器(舉例來說,一衛星、有線電視或廣播接收器)簡單地接收媒體串流125以作為一STB或類似物之部分,而無需自一遠端源(諸如裝置112或115)獲得媒體串流125。在此等實施例中,由於可自一廣播或其他本端接收源簡單地接收內容125,所以不需要或不存在功能202-208。
在自任何本端或遠端源接收媒體串流125之內容之後,可以任何方式暫時儲存媒體串流125之內容。在多種實施例中,媒體播放器應用程式130(圖1)提供一緩衝器,該緩衝器容許暫時儲存媒體串流125以促進暫停、倒轉、快轉(在可用內容之限制內)及適當之其他特徵。一般而言,緩衝器之內容用於建立與所接收串流125相關聯之任何媒體短片107A-C。在初始化媒體播放器應用程式130之後及/或改變媒體串流125(210)之後,通常就清除此緩衝器212。例如,該改變可為切換至一不同媒體源、改變至一不同頻道或網路、自一DVR或其他記錄裝置選擇一不同節目或類似物。
在開始或改變媒體串流125之後,媒體播放器102以任何方式識別媒體串流125之內容(在圖2中之步驟221)。在一些實施例中,識別內容可如同自與媒體播放器102、易地播放裝置112及/或受控制裝置115相關聯之一電子節目指南(EPG)接收節目、頻道及/或網路識別資訊一般簡單。可用來自任何源(舉例來說,美國伊利諾州芝加哥市Tribune Media Services(TMS))之資料填入多種EPG實施方案,該資料可以用於識別特定節目、頻道或網路之一文字或其他方便格式包含識別資訊(舉例來說,節目標題、網路名稱、頻道名稱或號碼、識別碼或類似物)。若EPG資料可用於媒體播放器102,則很容易由此資料確認關於媒體串流125之資訊。
但是,可出現媒體播放器102並不具有當前EPG資訊或者媒體播放器102不能直接獲得關於媒體串流125之內容的資訊的實施例及情況。在此等實施例中,可需要在串流125自身內產生一影像,該影像包含識別資訊。例如,此可藉自在所接收之串流125內產生一節目指南視窗而完成。在圖2中所示之例示性易地播放實施例中,媒體播放器102傳輸一EPG請求訊息214至易地播放裝置112,該易地播放裝置112繼而指示受控制裝置115產生EPG影像。例如,易地播放裝置112可經由一紅外線增強器或用於控制裝置115之任何其他鏈路傳輸一指令216。在此等實施例中,裝置115適當地顯示可被轉換編碼或者提供(220)至播放器102之一節目指南視窗218以作為媒體串流125之部分。
接著媒體播放器102可以任何方式處理所接收之EPG影像以擷取關於媒體串流125之文字或其他資訊。在多種實施例中,媒體播放器102實施辨識包含於EPG影像內之文數字或其他字元的一光學字元辨識(OCR)特徵。在一些實施例中,可在媒體播放器102處本端地實施此OCR特徵,或可藉由一遠端定位伺服器(諸如與資料中心系統103相關聯之任何OCR伺服器)實施此OCR特徵。在多種實施例中,如下文更完整地描述,來自媒體串流125之影像可傳輸至CRS伺服器104(若可用,或另一「關於什麽」(WIO)伺服器)以識別當前正觀看之節目。
媒體播放器102適當地傳輸222關於媒體串流125之任何可用識別資訊至WIO伺服器104以獲得一回應226,該回應包含可用於正觀看之特定節目、頻道或網路的任何剪輯規則。在請求222中提供之資訊可包含EPG資訊(若可用)及/或適當之EPG影像。其他實施例可提供任何其他資訊(舉例來說,頻道號碼),該任何其他資訊可用於自為CRS伺服器104所知的其他資訊(舉例來說,媒體播放器102之實體位置、日期及時間等等)決定當前觀看之節目。
CRS伺服器104以任何方式處理查詢222(步驟224)。若查詢並沒有已獲得關於節目之識別資訊,則CRS伺服器104可適當地識別當前以任何方式自任何種類之可用資訊接收之媒體串流125的節目、頻道及/或網路。如上文描述,與經識別之節目相關聯的任何規則可自資料庫105擷取且作為回應226傳回至媒體播放器102。在多種實施例中,回應226包含關於是否容許剪輯經識別之節目的至少一指示,且回應226亦可指示剪輯並不藉由簡單地指示一最大短片長度為零(或另一預定值)而可用。如所需,回應226亦可包含關於分配或顯示自經識別之節目製成的短片107A-C的任何額外規則。在多種實施例中,如所需,回應226亦可包含與可合理地期望繼媒體串流中之當前節目之後的節目相關聯之規則(舉例來說,用於在相同於當前節目的頻道或網路上廣播之下一節目的規則)。
在接收到回應226之後,媒體播放器102可適當地啟用剪輯228。下文將連同圖4至圖7描述用於處理一視訊短片之多種技術,該處理包含決定短片之一適當開始及結束(步驟230)。一般而言,在大多數實施例中,短片之開始及結束維持於一當前節目之限度內(舉例來說,短片通常不包含來自一個以上節目之內容),且開始及結束被限定於保持於所產生之短片107A-C的分配之最大短片長度內。
可以任何方式建立短片107(步驟231)。在多種實施例中,出現於緩衝器內的自媒體串流125解碼之內容係簡單地囊封於適當之圖框內以容許隨後處理及/或跨網路110運輸。在其他實施例中,可進一步壓縮、轉換編碼或者處理經解碼之內容以將短片107轉換為更適於經由網路110運輸或觀看的一格式。進一步而言,在多種實施例中,回應226中接收之至少一些規則可包含於與短片107相關聯之元資料或其他格式化。此元資料亦可包含關於短片之任何識別資訊,該任何識別資訊包含任何EPG資訊、開始/結束時間、回應226中接收之識別資訊及/或適當之任何其他資訊。
接著以任何適當方式將所建立之短片107運輸(232)至分配伺服器106。例如,可使用一習知檔案傳送協定或所需之任何其他協定運輸短片107。在分配伺服器106處接收及處理短片以執行所需之任何額外轉換編碼、壓縮或其他修改及確保與剩餘規則符合,該等剩餘規則與短片107之源材料相關聯。如上文所指出,可自與短片自身相關聯之元資料獲得分配、顯示及/或類似操作的規則,或可使用關於媒體短片107之任何可用的識別資訊擷取分配、顯示及/或類似操作的規則。接著所接收、格式化及經處理之短片107可在與短片或其內容源相關聯之任何規則的約束內提供至其他使用者(舉例來說,在網路110上之使用者)。
現在轉向圖3,可在CRS伺服器104及/或資料庫105處執行的一例示性處理程序300適當地涉及以下廣泛步驟:接收含有關於正藉由一遠端定位媒體播放器102觀看之一特定節目的資訊的一請求222(步驟302);自資訊識別正由遠端定位媒體播放器觀看之節目(步驟304);自資料庫105獲得相對應於經識別之特定節目的一或多個規則(步驟306-314);及提供一回應226至包含相對應於經識別之節目的遠端定位媒體播放器。一般而言,在圖3中所示之方法步驟的每一者可以軟體或韌體實施,該軟體或韌體可儲存於可用於執行裝置之記憶體、大容量儲存器或任何其他儲存媒體中,且該軟體或韌體可在與執行裝置相關聯之任何處理器或控制電路上執行。可以任何方式修改或增強圖3中所示之特定邏輯,且任何其他組件、系統、邏輯或裝置可涉及適當之多種其他實施例。
如上文所指出,由WIO伺服器104及/或資料庫105自一遠端定位媒體播放器102接收請求222而開始處理程序300。可經由網路110或任何其他通信鏈路以任何格式(舉例來說,TCP或UDP格式)接收請求。請求222將通常含有關於媒體串流125之一些種類的識別資訊,諸如上文更詳細描述之自一EPG獲得的資訊、EPG影像或其他源。
可以任何方式識別當前由媒體播放器102處理之節目(步驟304)。一般而言,步驟304涉及以任何方式識別一演出節目名稱及網路。例如,可自媒體播放器102自身、自媒體源、自一分離的WIO伺服器及/或所需之任何其他資訊源獲得此資訊。在多種實施例中,在少量或無額外處理的情況下,請求222中接收之資訊可足以識別節目自身。例如,此等實施例可提供很容易各自與一演出節目名稱及/或網路名稱相互關聯之TMS節目及/或站台識別碼。在其他實施例中,如上文更完整地描述,可獲得(或直接處理)OCR處理以擷取可用於識別節目之文字資訊。多種其他實施例可識別正以任何方式觀看之節目及/或網路。
接著所獲得之「演出節目名稱」及「網路」(或頻道)資訊可用於以任何方式獲得所需之剪輯規則。在許多實施例中,CRS伺服器104對資料庫105假定一查詢以決定演出節目名稱及/或網路是否相對應於包含剪輯規則之任何有效項目(步驟306、308、310)。通常而言,若可在資料庫105中辨識演出節目名稱及/或網路,則可獲得允許剪輯(步驟312)或拒絕剪輯(步驟314)的剪輯規則。在許多實施例中,若不可識別節目或網路來適當地保護內容擁有者之權利,則將不容許剪輯。但是,其他實施例很容易經組態以在預設情況下容許剪輯或容許限制長度、品質或類似物之短片。如上文所指出,可為特定節目(步驟306)、網路(308)、頻道(未繪示)及/或節目名稱/頻道/網路(步驟310)建立剪輯規則,以在不同程式化情況下容許靈活地應用不同剪輯規則。
在獲得任何剪輯規則之後,適當地提供一回應226至媒體播放器102(步驟316)。如上文所指出,回應226可包含任何數量之規則,該等規則包含關於短片分配及顯示之任何規則。如所需,可在任何時候藉由更新CRS伺服器104及/或資料庫105改變剪輯規則。
圖4至圖6係用於一媒體播放器應用程式130之一例示性介面400的圖。現在參考圖4至圖6,一例示性媒體播放器介面400適當地包含用於播放所接收之媒體串流125的一視窗402、一時移緩衝器指示符413,該時移緩衝器指示符413指示正在緩衝器內之視窗402中播放之當前影像的相對位置。在多種實施例中,緩衝器指示符413提供跨指示符413之一部分延伸的一線條412,以展示緩衝器之相對滿度。在圖4至圖6所示之介面400亦包含一播放按鈕416,以適當地在視窗402中播放或暫停視訊串流125的重播。可提供額外介面特徵(諸如一滑動軸414),以容許沿著緩衝器指示符413在視訊串流125內及時向前/往回運動;等效實施例可在滑動軸414之位置處提供所需之「向前」/「往回」按鈕。
隨著經由視訊串流125接收節目,線條412延伸以適當地使緩衝器指示符413滿度。在圖4至圖6中所示之實施例中,線條412從左至右逐漸滿度,然而可以任何其他方式在空間上配置其他實施例。在一些實施例中,隨著在視窗402中接收影像,可「實況播放(live)」呈現影像直至由觀看者另外指導。如在圖4至圖6中所示,觀看者可(例如藉由按下按鈕416)暫停觀看或藉由沿著線條412移動滑動軸414至左邊而倒轉觀看。隨著藉由移動滑動軸414至右邊而接收串流(在此實例中),觀看者可隨後向前傳回至「實況播放」串流或觀看者可適當地採取任何其他行為。
觀看者可以任何方式改變在視窗402中所呈現之內容。在多種實施例中,藉由改變所接收之媒體串流125而改變內容。例如,此可藉由改變調諧器上之頻道(舉例來說,位於媒體播放器102之內部或外部的一調諧器)、藉由指導一遠端定位之易地播放裝置112(圖1)改變串流125或以任何其他方式完成。在多種實施例中,一EPG特徵406提供為媒體播放器應用程式130之部分。於圖4至圖5中繪示適於搭配一本端調諧器或一遠端易地播放裝置112使用之一EPG特徵406之一實例。如在圖中所示,EPG 406提供關於可自任何源(舉例來說,一外部供應商)獲得及可儲存於任何位置(舉例來說,本端地位於播放器裝置102內或自在網路110或別處上的一源擷取)中之多種節目、頻道及/或網路的資訊。如所需,EPG特徵406亦可提供關於當前正觀看之節目的資訊404(舉例來說,標題、頻道及/或其他資訊)。在圖4至圖5中所示之EPG 406容許使用者以圖形方式與指南互動(舉例來說,使用一游標控制裝置、遙控器或類似物)以選擇所要觀看之節目。
在圖4至圖5中所示之例示性實施例中,在EPG 406中之某些節目係藉由一圖示408而識別為符合剪輯資格。剪輯資格408(及與剪輯資格相關聯之任何規則)可藉由EPG資料所提供之資訊決定及/或可藉由稍後提交至CRS伺服器之查詢(舉例來說,至伺服器104之查詢222)獲得。其他實施例可使用任何其他圖示或特徵來指示剪輯資格;例如,可在EPG 406內不同地反白顯示、加陰影或著色於有資格剪輯之節目、頻道或網路,或在一些實施例中,根本不在節目指南406中指示剪輯資格。
對於有資格剪輯之節目,一圖示、按鈕或其他特徵410可提供於介面400中,以容許觀看者建立所觀看之節目的一短片。當觀看者啟動特徵410時,可呈現用於識別短片之開始及結束的介面特徵。例如,在圖5中之滑動軸502及504繪示用於建立短片107之開始及結束的一技術。在多種實施例中,播放器應用程式103一起鎖定滑動軸502及504(或其他指示符),所以滑動軸502及504(或其他指示符)不能延伸超越如為特定節目所接收之規則中決定的最大可容許短片長度。進一步而言,短片之當前長度及/或最大短片長度可(舉例來說)顯示為特徵506以進一步輔助使用者遵守剪輯規則。若使用者試圖延伸超越短片之限制短片,則媒體播放器應用程式130將不容許滑動軸502、504(或其他特徵)延伸超越限制或不容許違反與節目、頻道或網路相關聯之一或多個規則的剪輯。
如所需,介面400可反應關於短片建立之進一步限制。現在參考圖6,若多重節目儲存於時移緩衝器內,則緩衝器指示符413可提供一劃分器608或節目602、604、606之間分隔的其他指示。因為每一節目可具有可(或可不)相容於在緩衝器內之其他節目之其自身的一組剪輯規則,所以媒體應用程式130儲存每一特定節目之剪輯規則及將規則分離地強加給每一節目。到最後,可不容許跨越劃分器608之短片,且每一節目602、604、606可具有其自身最大容許短片長度或適當之其他參數。
因此,已描述用於自一所接收媒體串流建立長度可變短片之多種技術、系統及裝置。如在前文所指出,可為特定節目、頻道及/或網路定義規則,且此等規則可提供至一媒體播放器,使得當建立短片時,強加剪輯規則。規則亦可應用於短片分配及/或顯示;在多種實施例中,此等規則可與短片自身一起提供至分配伺服器。藉由強加對節目、頻道或網路而言係特定的一最大短片長度,可在保護內容擁有者之權利的同時仍容許靈活地建立短片。

Claims (32)
- 一種用於提供媒體短片至複數個使用者之系統,該系統包括:一資料庫,該資料庫包括與複數個節目相關聯之一規則清單;一第一伺服器,該第一伺服器經組態以接收關於正藉由一媒體播放器觀看之一特定節目的資訊,以自限制由該特定節目建立之使用者建立短片之該資料庫獲得至少一規則,以及在建立被觀看之該特定節目之媒體短片之前以將相對應於正藉由該媒體播放器觀看之該特定節目的該至少一規則傳輸至該媒體播放器,藉此以允許該媒體播放器根據限制由該正在被觀看之特定節目建立之使用者建立短片之該至少一規則,來建立該特定節目之該媒體短片;及一第二伺服器,該第二伺服器經組態以接收正藉由該媒體播放器觀看之該特定節目的一媒體短片,且隨後使得該媒體短片可供該複數個使用者取用。
- 如請求項1之系統,其中由該媒體播放器建立之該特定節目之該媒體短片包括元資料,該元資料具有限制由該特定節目建立之使用者建立短片之該至少一規則之至少一部分,且其中該第二伺服器係進一步經組態以根據該至少一規則之該至少一部分限制該媒體短片的可取用性。
- 如請求項1之系統,其中該規則清單包括與一演出節目 名稱相關聯之一第一規則及與一網路相關聯之一第二規則,且其中該第一伺服器係經組態以自關於該特定節目之該資訊識別相對應於該特定節目之該演出節目名稱及該網路的至少一者。
- 如請求項1之系統,其中該規則清單包括用於該複數個節目之每一者的一短片製作規則、一短片分配規則及一短片顯示規則。
- 如請求項4之系統,其中第一伺服器係經進一步組態以提供相對應於該特定節目之該短片製作規則、該短片分配規則及該短片顯示規則給該媒體播放器。
- 如請求項5之系統,其中該媒體短片包括元資料,該元資料包含相對應於該特定節目之該短片分配規則及該短片顯示規則,且其中該第二伺服器係經進一步組態以根據該短片分配規則及該短片顯示規則限制該媒體短片之該可取用性。
- 如請求項1之系統,其中該第一伺服器係經進一步組態以自該資料庫獲得相對應於繼該特定節目之後的一第二節目之後續規則及以將相對應於該第二節目之該等後續規則傳輸至該媒體播放器。
- 如請求項1之系統,其中該規則清單包括與該複數個節目之每一者相關聯的一最大短片長度。
- 一種用於在一電腦伺服器處處理一媒體短片之方法,該方法包括:接收在該電腦伺服器處關於正藉由一遠端定位媒體播 放器觀看之一特定節目的資訊;藉由該電腦伺服器獲得相對應於來自儲存複數個節目之剪輯規則之一資料庫之該特定節目之至少一剪輯規則,其中該至少一剪輯規則係自該資料庫獲得,該資料庫調整正藉由該遠端定位媒體播放器觀看之該特定節目之剪輯;及在建立該媒體短片之前將相對應於該特定節目之該至少一個剪輯規則自該電腦伺服器處提供至該遠端定位媒體播放器,以藉此容許該遠端定位媒體播放器根據該至少一剪輯規則建立該特定節目的一短片,該剪輯規則係自調整正藉由該遠端定位媒體播放器觀看之該特定節目之剪輯之該資料庫獲得。
- 如請求項9之方法,該方法進一步包括在該電腦伺服器處自該遠端定位媒體播放器接收該媒體短片。
- 如請求項10之方法,其中該媒體短片包括元資料,該元資料描述相對應於該特定節目之該至少一剪輯規則的至少一部分。
- 如請求項11之方法,該方法進一步包括根據相對應於該特定節目之該至少一剪輯規則使得該媒體短片可供複數個使用者取用。
- 如請求項9之方法,其中該識別包括:自關於該特定節目之該資訊識別相對應於該特定節目之一演出節目名稱及一網路的至少一者。
- 如請求項13之方法,其中若識別該演出節目名稱及網路 二者,則該至少一剪輯規則相對應於一第一組規則,若僅識別該演出節目名稱,則該至少一剪輯規則相對應於一第二組規則,若僅識別該網路,則該至少一剪輯規則相對應於一第三組規則且若既沒有識別該網路也沒有識別該演出節目名稱,則該至少一剪輯規則相對應於一第四組規則。
- 如請求項9之方法,其中接收到關於該特定節目之該資訊包括一影像,且其中該方法進一步包括處理該影像以辨識關於該特定節目之文字資訊。
- 如請求項9之方法,該方法進一步包括自該資訊識別正藉由該遠端定位媒體播放器觀看之該節目。
- 如請求項9之方法,其中該至少一剪輯規則包括一最大短片長度。
- 一種由一媒體播放器裝置所執行之自一媒體串流建立一長度可變媒體短片的方法,該方法包括:在該媒體播放器裝置處接收一媒體串流,其中該媒體串流編碼一特定節目以呈現給一觀看者;將與該特定節目有關之資訊自該媒體播放器裝置提供至一遠端定位電腦伺服器,以自一資料庫獲得與該特定節目相關聯之一最大短片長度,該資料庫可供該遠端定位電腦伺服器使用,其中該資料庫對於複數個節目之各者維持最大短片長度;及在自該遠端定位電腦伺服器接收與該特定節目相關聯之該最大短片長度後,該媒體播放器裝置擷取一部分之 已接收之媒體串流,以建立該特定節目之該長度可變短片,其中該媒體串流之已擷取部分具有基於該觀看者之輸入之一開始點及一結束點,且其中該媒體播放器裝置將該長度可變媒體短片之該長度維持於小於與自該遠端定位電腦伺服器接收之該特定節目相關聯之該最大短片長度。
- 如請求項18之方法,該方法進一步包括識別呈現於該媒體串流內之該節目。
- 如請求項19之方法,其中該擷取之步驟僅在自該遠端定位電腦伺服器接收該最大短片長度後執行。
- 如請求項18之方法,其中與該特定節目有關之該資訊包括一站台識別及一節目識別。
- 如請求項21之方法,該方法進一步包括自該媒體串流決定該站台識別及該節目識別。
- 如請求項19之方法,其中該識別包括在該媒體串流中產生一資訊標題,獲取該資訊標題之一影像及執行該影像之一光學字元辨識以藉此擷取關於該媒體串流之資訊。
- 如請求項23之方法,其中該產生包括指示提供該媒體串流之一遠端定位之易地播放裝置以自一受控制裝置產生該標題,俾使該標題可見於該媒體串流內。

- 如請求項28之方法,其中提供至該遠端伺服器之該媒體短片包括:描述與該經識別之節目相關聯的該複數個規則之至少一些的元資料。
- 如請求項18之方法,其中接收該媒體串流包括:經由一網路自一易地播放裝置接收一易地播放媒體串流。
- 如請求項18之方法,其中接收該媒體串流包括:自一電視源接收該媒體串流。
