Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I: (R<1> is NH2 or protected NH2 group; R<2> is isobutyl, cycloalkyl, lower alkyl, lower alkyl group, etc., R<3> is COOH or protected COOH; R<4> is alkanoyloxy, H, carbamoylxy group, etc.) and its salt. EXAMPLE:7-[2-Isobutoxyimino-2-(2-aminothiazole-4-yl)-acetamido]cephalo sporanic acid (syn-isomer). USE:Antibacterials effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PROCESS:A compound of formula II, its reactive derivative at the NH2 group, or its salt is reacted with a compound of formula III, its reactive derivative at the COOH group, or its salt in a solvent, e.g. water or acetone, to give the compound of formula I or its salt. Some of the compounds of formula II and III are novel compounds.
