Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A cephem compound of formula I: [R1 is (protected) amino group; R2 is lower alkyl, amino (lower) alkyl group, etc.; R3 is amino (lower) alkyl, protected amino (lower) alkyl group, etc.; R4 is (protected) carboxy group], and its salt.
EXAMPLE: 7-[ 2-( 2-Aminothiazol-4-yl )-2-allyloxyiminoacetamido ]-3-[ 1-( 2-aminoethyl )-1H-tetrazol-5-ylthiomethyl ]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid.
USE: Antibacterials effective against pathogenic microorganisms, e.g. Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II, its reactive derivative at the amino group, or its salt is reacted with a compound of formula III, its reactive derivative at the carboxy group, or its salt to give the compound formula I wherein the N atom is acylated by amidation in the β-lactam zone.
