NEW MATERIAL:A cephem compound of formula I [R1 is H, halogen, alkyl group, etc.; R2 is H or lower alkyl group; R3 is H or protecting group; A is formula II (R4 is alkylamino, alkyl group, etc.), or CF3], and its pharmacologically acceptable salt.
EXAMPLE: 7-[ 2-( 2-Aminothiazol-4-yl )-2-hydroxyiminoacetamido ]-3-[ 2-(1-methyl-1H-tegrazol-5-yl)vinyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid (syn-isomer).
USE: Antimicrobials having great antimicrobial actions on a wide range of pathogenic bacteria, including Psudomonas aeruginosa.
PROCESS: A compound of formula III (R5 is H or protecting group) or its salt is reacted with a compound of formula IV (R6 is protecting group; R7 is R1 or protecting group) or its reactive derivative to form a compound of formula V, whose protecting groups are eliminated, if necessary, to give the compound of formula I.
