NEW MATERIAL:A syn-isomer of a compound shown by the formulaI[R1 is amino, amino-protecting group; R2 dialkanoyloxy (lower) alkyl, hydroxyl, hydroxyl-protecting group, alkoxy, etc.; R3 is lower alkyl; Y is thio(-S-), sulfinyl(-SO-); the dotted line is 2- or 3-cephem nucleus]and its pharmaceutically acceptable salt.
EXAMPLE: 7-[2-(2-Formamidothiazole-4-yl)-2-methoxyiminoacetamide]-3-cephem- 4-carboxylic acid n-butyl ester.
USE: A preventive and remedy for infectious diseases. Controlling the growth of a wide range of germs including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially useful for oral medication.
PROCESS: A compound shown by the formula II or its salt is reacted with an esterifying agent shown by the formula III (X is hydroxy or its reactive derivative), to give a compound shown by the formulaI.
