Abstract

Et metallsubstrat belegges med et lag av keramikk, ved å sprøyte dråper av en slurry av en keramisk forløper på substratet, idet substratet er ved en temperatur mellom 500(C og 750(C. Keramikken omfatter alumina, og er gjort makroporøs ved å sprøyte en blanding av aluminasol og aluminapartikler med ikke mer enn 35 vekt% dispergertbart alumina. Sprøyting på en rødglødende overflate på denne måten fører til en svært markert forbedring i adhesjon av den resulterende keramikk til metallsubstratet. Et katalytisk aktivt material kan deretter innlemmes i det keramiske laget, for å danne en katalysatorstruktur (16).
