Abstract

Se describe un procedimiento para mejorar el color y pureza de composiciones de agente tensioactivo de alquil éster sulfonato de potasio o de magnesio de color obscuro, y particularmente composiciones de éster metílico de ácido alfa-sulfo graso, sin la necesidad de blanqueo u otros pasos de procesamiento. El procedimiento comprende los pasos de (1) formar una mezcla que comprende (i) una composición de agente tensioactivo de alquil éster sulfonato que contiene impurezas que incluyen impurezas de color obscuro, sales orgánicas e inorgánicas, y disales, y (ii) agua, y (2) separar el agente tensioactivo de éster sulfonato de la mezcla. Los procedimientos pueden comprender además el paso (3) recuperar el agente tensioactivo de alquil éster sulfonato. Son muy preferidas las composiciones de agente tensioactivo de éster sulfonato metílico. Después del procesamiento de acuerdo con la invención, la composición de agente tensioactivo de alquil éster sulfonato tiene propiedades mejoradas de color, pureza y olor.
