Abstract

Se divulga un método y aparato de impresión para el recubrimiento de regiones seleccionadas de una superficie de un sustrato con una película. El método comprende los pasos de: a) proporcionar un miembro de transferencia de movimiento continuo que tiene una superficie de proyección de imagen, b) recubrir la superficie de proyección de imagen del miembro de transferencia con partículas individuales formadas de, o recubiertas con un polímero termoplástico, c) eliminar substancialmente todas las partículas que no están en contacto directo con la superficie de proyección de imagen para dejar un recubrimiento de partícula monocapa uniforme sobre la superficie de proyección de imagen, d) exponer las regiones seleccionadas de la superficie de proyección de imagen recubierta para la radiación de la energía suficiente para volver pegajosas las partículas dentro de las regiones seleccionadas, e) presionar la superficie de proyección de imagen recubierta y la superficie del sustrato uno contra el otro, ya sea durante o después de la irradiación, para causar la transferencia a la superficie del sustrato de solo las regiones de la recubierta de partícula que se han vuelto pegajosas, las regiones pegajosas que forman una película, y f) repetir los pasos b) y c) para aplicar un recubrimiento de monocapa fresca de partículas a las regiones seleccionadas de la cual el recubrimiento de monocapa aplicado previamente se transfirió a la superficie del sustrato en el paso e), para dejar la superficie de proyección de imagen otra vez recubierta uniformemente con un monocapa de partículas.
