Abstract
Se describe un método y sistema para convertir reversiblemente agua entre una resistencia iónica inicial y una resistencia iónica incrementada, usando un aditivo intercambiable. El método y sistema descrito pueden usarse, por ejemplo, en la remoción libre de destilación de agua de solventes, solutos, o soluciones. Después de la extracción de un soluto de un medio disolviéndolo en agua, el soluto puede aislarse de la solución acuosa o "desalarse" convirtiendo el agua a una solución como una fase separada. Una vez que se decanta el soluto, por ejemplo, la solución acuosa de fuerza iónica incrementada se convierte de nuevo a agua que tiene su resistencia iónica original y se vuelve a utilizar. El intercambio de resistencia iónica inferior a superior se logra fácilmente usando métodos de baja energía tales como burbujeo con CO2, CS2, o COS. El intercambio de resistencia iónica de superior a inferior se logra fácilmente usando métodos de baja energía tal como burbujeo con aire, calentamiento, agitación, introducción de un vacío o vacío parcial, o cualquier combinación de los mismos.
