Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para formar un semieje, con un diámetro mínimo de cuepro de 4.3 cm (1.70 pulgadas), a partir de un acero de aleación que consiste, esencialmente de .40 - .48 por ciento de carbono, 1.35 - 1.61 por ciento de manganeso, .16 - .30 por ciento de silicio, 0- .20 por ciento de cromo y el resto de hierro y otros materiales que no afectan la templabilidad del acero, al método está caracterizado porque consiste en el forjado de los extremos de un eje para formar una ranura en uno de sus extremos y un reborde en su otro extremo, el maquinado de los extremos a una configuración y dimensión finales y el endurecimiento por inducción del eje que tiene un diámetro crítico de 5.33 a 6.60 cm (2.1 - 2.6"), sin que intervenga cualquier recocido o normalización después de la forja.
