Abstract

조밀한 자기강화 Si3N、새라믹체 및 이러한 세라믹체(body)를 제조하는 방법. 새라믹체는 Si3N、(a), 산소, 질소, Mg, Y, Si, Zr 및 Ti와 A1중 하나 이상을 함유하는 유리질 과립 경계상(b), ZrO2를 함유하는 제2결정상(c) 및 금속 지르코늄 실리사이드 및/또는 금속 지르코늄 규소 니트라이드의 결정상(d)를 포함하는 조성물을 함유한다. 세라믹은 높은 파단인성 및 높은 파단강도를 나타내고 밀도는 이론치의 98% 이상이다.

Claims (17)

  1. 세라믹체를 제공하기에 충분한 양의 Si3N4(a); MgO공급원과 SiO2공급원의 배합물(b) (여기서, SiO2는총 SiO2함량이 3중량% 이상으로 되도록 하기에 충분한 양으로 존재하고, 배합물은 분말의 조밀화를 조력하기에 충분한 양으로 존재한다) Si3N4를 β-Si3N4로 반드시 완전히 전환시키는 것을 촉진시키기에 충분한 양의 Y2O3공급원(c); 촉매량의 ZrO2공급원(d) 및 β-Si3N4위스커의 형성을 촉진시키기에 충분한 양의 하나 이상의 위스커 성장 중진 화합물(e) (이는 TiO2공급원과 Al2O3공급원 중에서 선택된다)을 포함하는 분말 혼합물을 1atm(0.lMPa) 내지 100atm(10MPa) 범위내의 압력과 이론치의 98% 이상의 값으로 조밀화시키고, 평균 종횡비(aspect ratio)가 높은 β-Si3N4위스커를 동일 반응계에서 형성시키기에 충분한 온도로 반응시킴으로써 23℃에서 쉐브론 노치 기술(Chevron motch technique)로 측정한 세라믹의 파만인성이 6MPa·(m)1/2이상으로 되도록 함을 포함하는, 무압 또는 저압 기체 소결에 의한 조밀한 자가강화 질화규소 세라믹체(ceramic body)의 제조방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, Si3N4의 양이 분말 혼합물의 총중량을 기준으로 하여 90 내지 98중량%의 범위인 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, SiO2공급원(들)이 SiO2의 총 함량을 분말 혼합물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 3 내지 5중량%의 범위로 제공하기에 충분한 양으로 존재하는 방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, MgO 공급원이 MgO함량을 분말 혼합물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 0.5 내지 3중량%의 범위로 제공하기에 충분한 양으로 존재하는 방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, Y2O3공급원이 Y2O3함량을 분말 혼합물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 1 내지 6중량%의 범위로 제공하기에 충분한 양으로 존재하는 방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, ZrO2공급원의 양이 ZrO2함량을 분말 혼합물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 0.2 내지 3중량%의 범위로 제공하기에 충분한 양으로 존재하는 방법.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 위스커 성장 중진 화합물의 함량이 분말 혼합물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 0·01 내지 3중량%의 범위인 방법.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, Y2O3, MgO 및 SiO2공급원의 양이 Y2O3대 MgO와 SiO2의 배합물의 중량비를 2:1 내지 1:8의 범위로 제공하는 방법.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, MgO, SiO2및 ZrO2의 양이 SiO2와 MgO의 배합물 대 ZrO2의 중량비를 40:1 내지 1:1의 범위로 제공하는 방법.
  10. 제1항에 있어서, 분말 혼합물을 소결하기 전에 미가공체로 형성하는 단계를 추가로 포함하는 방법.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 미가공체를 수성 담체 매질에 분산된, 각각의 성분이 수분산성이고 비응집성인 분말 혼합물을 포함하는 콜로이드성 현탁액으로부터 제조하는 방법.
  12. 제11항에 있어서, MgO 공급원이 Mg(OH)2인 방법.
  13. 제11항에 있어서, 수성 담체 매질이 계면활성제와 혼합되는 방법.
  14. SEM으로 Si3N4세라믹체의 한 면을 검정하있을 때 20용적% 이상이, 평균 종횡비가 2.5 이상인 위스커로서 존재하는 결정상 β-Si3N4(a);조성물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 2 내지 10중량% 범위의 양으로 존재하고, 산소, 질소, Mg, Y, Si, Zr 및 Ti과 A1중에서 선택된 하나 이상의 금속을 포함하는 유리질 과립 경계상(b); 조성물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 0.1 내지 3중량% 범위의 양으로 존재하고, ZrO2를 포함하는 제2결정성(c) 및 조성물의 총 중량을 기준으로 하여 0.1 내지 약 3중량% 범위의 양으로 존재하고, 금속 지르고늄 실리사이드 및 금속 지르고늄 규소 니트라이드(여기서, 금속은 Ti과 A1중에서 선택된다)를 포함하는 하나 이상의 추가의 결정상(d)를 포함하는, 밀도가 이론치의 98% 이상이고 23℃에서 쉐브론 노치 기술로 측정한 인성이 6MPa·(m)1/2이상인 질화규소 세라믹체.
  15. 제14항에 있어서, 유리질 과립 경계상이 Mg, Si, Y, Zr, Ti, 산소 및 질소를 함유하고 티탄 지르코늄 실리사이드 및 티탄 지르코늄 규소 니트라이드인 2개의 다른 결징상이 존재하는 세라믹체.
  16. 제14항에 있어서, 유리질 과립 경계상이 Mg, Si, Y, Zr, Al, 산소 및 질소를 함유하고 알루미늄 지르고늄 실리사이드 및 알루미늄 지르코늄 규소 니트라이드인 2개의 다른 결정상이 존재하는 세라믹체.
  17. 제14항의 세라믹체로부터 제조된 제품.
