제1도는 본 발명의 실시예1의 액정표시소자의 구성을 나타내는 분해사시도, 제4도는 수직배열액정셀의 굴절을 타원체를 나타낸 도면, 제5도는 TN 방식의 액정셀에 전압인가시의 분자배열상태를 나타내는 도면.

Claims (6)

  1. 2장의 편광판과, 2장의 편광판 사이에 배치되어, 2장의 기판사이에서 액정이 전압무인가시에 트위스트 배향을 하고있는 구동용액정셀 및, 광축이 연속적으로 트위스트 배열된 광학 이방성 물질층에서, 상기 광학이방물질층의 트위스트축이 구동용 액정셀의 기판표면에 대해 수직으로 설정되어, 1층이상의 광학이방성 물질층으로 형성된 적어도 1개의 광학이방소자를 구비하며, 상기 광학이방소자의 가시광에 대한 선광성이 상기 액정셀의 가시광에 대한 선광성 보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 구동용 액정셀을 자연값을 R1〔nm〕, 트위스트각을 T1〔deg〕으로하고, 광학이방소자의 자연값을 R2〔nm〕, 트위스트각을 T2〔deg〕로 하면, 상기 구동용액정셀 및 광학이방소자(R1/T1), (R2/T2)는 (R1/T1)〉(R2/T2)인것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  3. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 광학이방소자의 광학이방성 물질층의 굴절율이방성을 △n, 광축의 트위스트피치길이를 P로 하면, △n×P의 값이 가시의 파장범위보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시 소자.
  4. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 광학이방소자의 광학이방성물질층이 액정으로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  5. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 광학이방소자의 광학이방성 물질층이 고분자층으로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  6. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 한계값 전압의 인가시 구동용 액정셀의 배열상태는 액정분자의 틸트각이 배향면 부근과 중앙부근에서 다르고, 또, 트위스트각은 액정층의 두께에 대해서 비선형으로 배열하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
