- 중앙 전극;상기 중앙 전극의 둘레에 제공되는 원통형인 절연체; 및스파크 방전 갭을 통하여 일단이 상기 중앙 전극에 대향되도록 배열되는 접지 전극;으로 이루어지며,여기에서 상기 절연체는 알루미나-계 소결체에 의하여 형성되며, 상기 알루미나-계 소결체는 95.0% 이상의 이론적 밀도 비율을 가지며, 희토류 원소(RE) 성분, Si 성분, 및 IUPAC 1990의 추천에 기초한 주기율표에 있어서의 2족 원소 중 필수 성분으로서 Mg 및 Ba를 포함함과 아울러 상기 Mg 및 Ba를 제외한 적어도 다른 하나의 원소를 더 포함하는 2족 원소(2A) 성분을 포함하며, 아래의 조건을 만족시키기 위하여 희토류 원소(RE)가 분산됨을 특징으로 하는 스파크 플러그.<조건> 상기 알루미나-계 소결체에서 180㎛의 측정 길이를 가지는 측정선이 7개소 선택되고, 각각의 선택된 측정선에 존재하는 상기 희토류 원소(RE)를 에너지 분산 방법으로 분석할 때, 상기 희토류 원소(RE)로부터 추출된 8개 이상의 피크가 관찰되는 측정선의 총 수는 7개소 중 4개소 이상임.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 알루미나-계 소결체의 전체 질량이 100질량%로 정의될 때, 상기 희토류 원소(RE) 성분은 0.2질량% 내지 4.0질량%의 함량으로 포함되며, 상기 Ba 성분은 0.1질량% 내지 1.0질량%의 함량으로 포함됨을 특징으로 하는 스파크 플러그.
- 청구항 1 또는 청구항 2에 있어서,상기 희토류 원소(RE) 성분은 La 성분, Pr 성분, Nd 성분 및 Sm 성분으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나의 성분이며, 그리고상기 알루미나-계 소결체는 적어도 상기 희토류 원소(RE) 성분을 포함하는 RE-β-알루미나 결정상을 가지며, 상기 RE-β-알루미나 결정상의 직경 DA(RE) 및 알루미나의 평균 결정 입자 직경 DA(Al)은 다음의 조건〈1〉을 만족시킴을 특징으로 하는 스파크 플러그.조건〈1〉 : 0.2≤DA(RE)/DA(Al)≤3.0
- 청구항 1 또는 청구항 2에 있어서,상기 희토류 원소(RE) 성분은 La 성분, Pr 성분, Nd 성분 및 Sm 성분으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나의 성분이며, 그리고상기 알루미나-계 소결체는 적어도 상기 희토류 원소(RE)를 포함하는 RE-β-알루미나 결정상을 가지며, 상기 알루미나-계 소결체 내에 포함되는 상기 RE-β-알루미나 결정상에서, RE-β-알루미나 결정상의 결정 입자 직경(DE(RE)) 및 평균 결정 입자 직경(DA(Al))이 다음의 조건〈2〉를 만족시키는 RE-β-알루미나 결정상의 수는 3 이하로 됨을 특징으로 하는 스파크 플러그.조건〈2〉 : DE(RE)/DA(Al)≥2
- 청구항 3에 있어서,상기 RE-β-알루미나 결정상은 다음의 조성식에 의하여 나타내어지는 조성을 가짐을 특징으로 하는 스파크 플러그.RE(2A)x(Al)yOz(여기에서 x, y 및 z는 각각 x=0 내지 2.5, y=11 내지 16, 및 z=18 내지 28임)
