Abstract
Description
正極は、正極集電体と、正極活物質および正極結着剤を含む正極活物質層と、絶縁性フィラーを含む多孔質層とを備える。
(但し、0≦x<1、0<y≦1.2、MはCo、Al、Mn、Fe、Ti及びBからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種の元素である。)
(0.8≦a≦1.2、0.5≦b<1.0、0.005≦c≦0.4、0.005≦d≦0.4、0≦e<0.1、1.8≦f≦2.3、b+c+d+e=1、M1はMnまたはAlであり、M2はB、Na、Mg、Al、S、K、Ca、Ti、V、Cr、Fe、Cu、Zn、Zr、Nb、Mo、Sn、Pb、およびWから成る群より選択される1種以上の金属である。)
負極は、負極集電体と、負極活物質および負極結着剤を含む負極活物質層とを備える。
電解液は、非水溶媒および支持塩に加えて、添加剤としてハロゲン化環状酸無水物を含む。
絶縁層を有する正極を使用することにより、本実施形態に係るリチウムイオン二次電池は必ずしもセパレータを備えなくてよい。絶縁層を有する正極とともにセパレータを使用してもよい。
本実施形態に係るリチウムイオン二次電池は、例えば、図1および図2のような構造を有する。この二次電池は、電池要素20と、それを電解質と一緒に収容するフィルム外装体10と、正極タブ51および負極タブ52(以下、これらを単に「電極タブ」ともいう)とを備えている。
本実施形態によるリチウムイオン二次電池は、通常の方法に従って作製することができる。積層ラミネート型のリチウムイオン二次電池を例に、リチウムイオン二次電池の製造方法の一例を説明する。まず、乾燥空気または不活性雰囲気において、正極および負極を、セパレータを介して対向配置して、電極素子を形成する。次に、この電極素子を外装体(容器)に収容し、電解液を注入して電極に電解液を含浸させる。その後、外装体の開口部を封止してリチウムイオン二次電池を完成する。
本実施形態に係るリチウムイオン二次電池を複数組み合わせて組電池とすることができる。組電池は、例えば、本実施形態に係るリチウムイオン二次電池を2つ以上用い、直列、並列またはその両方で接続した構成とすることができる。直列および/または並列接続することで容量および電圧を自由に調節することが可能になる。組電池が備えるリチウムイオン二次電池の個数については、電池容量や出力に応じて適宜設定することができる。
本実施形態に係るリチウムイオン二次電池またはその組電池は、車両に用いることができる。本実施形態に係る車両としては、ハイブリッド車、燃料電池車、電気自動車(いずれも四輪車(乗用車、トラック、バス等の商用車、軽自動車等)のほか、二輪車(バイク)や三輪車を含む)が挙げられる。なお、本実施形態に係る車両は自動車に限定されるわけではなく、他の車両、例えば電車、船舶、潜水艦、衛星等の移動体の各種電源として用いることもできる。
本実施例の電池の作製、および作製した電池の評価について説明する。
正極活物質としてのリチウムニッケル複合酸化物(LiNi0.80Mn0.15Co0.05O2)、導電材としてのカーボンブラック、正極結着剤としてのポリフッ化ビニリデンを、90:5:5の重量比で計量し、それらをN−メチルピロリドンを用いて混練し、正極スラリーとした。調製した正極スラリーを、正極集電体としての厚み20μmのアルミニウム箔に塗布し乾燥し、さらにプレスすることで正極を得た。
次にアルミナ(平均粒径1.0μm)とポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVdF)を、90:10の重量比で計量し、それらをN−メチルピロリドンを用いて混練し、絶縁層形成用塗料とした。
作製した絶縁層形成用塗料を正極上にダイコーターで塗布し乾燥し、さらにプレスすることで絶縁層がコートされた正極を得た。断面を電子顕微鏡で観察したところ、絶縁層の平均厚みは5μmであった。絶縁層の平均厚みと、絶縁層を構成する各材料の真密度と組成比から絶縁層の空孔率は、55%であると算出された。
負極活物質としての人造黒鉛粒子(平均粒径8μm)と、導電材としてのカーボンブラック、負極結着剤としてのスチレン−ブタジエン共重合ゴム:カルボキシメチルセルロースの重量比1:1混合物を、97:1:2の重量比で計量し、それらを水を用いて混練し、負極スラリーとした。調製した負極スラリーを、負極集電体としての厚み15μmの銅箔に塗布し乾燥し、さらにプレスすることで負極を得た。
非水溶媒としてエチレンカーボネートとエチルメチルカーボネートとジエチルカーボネートの混合溶媒(3:1:6(体積比))を用いた。LiPF6の濃度が0.9mol/l、ヘキサフルオロ無水グルタル酸(FGA)の濃度が0.1mol/l(1.86重量%)となるように、LiPF6およびヘキサフルオロ無水グルタル酸をこの混合溶媒に混合して、電解液を調製した。
作製した正極および負極を、セパレータを介して重ね合わせて電極積層体を作製した。セパレータには単層のポリプロピレン多孔質フィルムを用いた。ここで、電極積層体の初回放電容量が100mAhになるように積層数を調整した。次に、正極および負極それぞれの集電部分を束ねて、アルミニウム端子、ニッケル端子を溶接し、電極素子を作製した。電極素子をラミネートフィルムで外装し、ラミネートフィルム内部に電解液を注入した。その後、ラミネートフィルム内部を減圧しながらラミネートフィルムを熱融着して封止した。これにより初回充電前の平板型リチウムイオン二次電池を作製した。ラミネートフィルムにはアルミニウムを蒸着したポリプロピレンフィルムを用いた。
得られた平板型リチウムイオン二次電池を、充放電試験装置(ACD−100M:アスカ電子社製)を用いて、45℃環境下で、4.2Vから2.5Vの範囲で充放電を行った。充電は、4.2Vまでは1Cの一定電流、4.2Vに達した後は、一定電圧で1時間行うCCCV方式で行った。放電は、1Cの一定電流で行うCC方式で行い、初回放電容量を測定した。ここで、1Cは、最大限充電した状態の電池に対し、一定電流で1時間で放電を終了させたときの一定電流値を意味する。その後、この方式で充放電を1150サイクル行い、その間の所定のサイクル数において、それぞれ放電容量を測定した。初回放電容量(0サイクル)に対する各サイクルの放電容量の割合(%)を容量維持率として求めた。
得られた平板型リチウムイオン二次電池を、4.2VまでCCCV充電後、25℃環境下で、交流インピーダンス法によりインピーダンス測定を行い、Rsol(液抵抗)およびRct(電荷移動抵抗)を求めた。容量維持率の測定と同様に所定のサイクル数において、それぞれインピーダンス測定を実施した。
正極に絶縁層をコートしなかった。その他は実施例1と同様である。
電解液にヘキサフルオロ無水グルタル酸を添加しなかった。その他は実施例1と同様である。
正極に絶縁層をコートしなかった。さらに、電解液にヘキサフルオロ無水グルタル酸を添加しなかった。その他は実施例1と同様である。
ヘキサフルオロ無水グルタル酸に替えて、フルオロエチレンカーボネート(FEC)を、濃度が0.1mol/l(0.87重量%)となるように電解液に添加して、電池を作製した。その他は実施例1と同様である。
正極に絶縁層をコートしなかった。その他は比較例4と同様である。

Claims (10)
- 絶縁性フィラーを含む多孔質層が形成された正極、および0.005〜10重量%のハロゲン化環状酸無水物を含む電解液を含む、リチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記ハロゲン化環状酸無水物がハロゲン化環状カルボン酸無水物である、請求項1に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記ハロゲン化環状酸無水物がフッ素化環状酸無水物である、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記フッ素化環状酸無水物における水素原子とフッ素原子の原子数の和に対するフッ素原子数の比率が25%以上である、請求項4に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記フッ素化環状酸無水物が無水グルタル酸のフッ素化物である、請求項4または5に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記フッ素化環状酸無水物がヘキサフルオロ無水グルタル酸である、請求項6に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記絶縁性フィラーが、酸化アルミニウム、酸化ケイ素、酸化チタン、酸化ジルコニウム、酸化マグネシウム、酸化亜鉛、チタン酸ストロンチウム、チタン酸バリウム、窒化アルミニウム、窒化ケイ素、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポチエチレンテレフタレート、アラミド、ポリイミド、ポリアミドイミド、およびシリコーンゴムから成る群より選択される、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池を搭載した車両。
- 正極と負極とをセパレータを介して積層して電極素子を製造する工程と、
前記電極素子と電解液とを外装体に封入する工程と、
を含み、
前記正極が、絶縁性フィラーを含む多孔質層を有し、
前記電解液が、0.005〜10重量%のハロゲン化環状酸無水物を含むことを特徴とする、リチウムイオン二次電池の製造方法。
