Abstract
Description
このような電解には、主に水道水が使用される。このため、水道水に含まれるナトリウム、カルシウム、カリウム、マグネシウム等を主成分とするスケールが、陰極表面に付着する。電極に付着するスケールの量が多くなると、電解性能が低下し、殺菌水生成能力が低下する可能性がある。
本発明は、かかる課題の認識に基づいてなされたものであり、大型化やコストの増加を抑制しつつ、電極の寿命をさらに延ばすことが可能な電解水生成装置を提供することを目的とする。
図1に表したトイレ装置は、洋式腰掛便器(以下説明の便宜上、単に「便器」と称する)80と、その上に設けられた衛生洗浄装置10と、を備える。衛生洗浄装置10は、ケーシング40と、便座20と、便蓋30と、を有する。便座20と便蓋30とは、ケーシング40に対して開閉自在にそれぞれ軸支されている。
図3に表したように、電解水生成装置1は、電解槽2と、一対の電極3および4と、を有する。電極3および4は、電解槽2の内部に設けられ、電源に接続されている。電極3および4に電圧が印加されることで、電解槽2の内部を通過する水道水が電気分解される。なお、図3(a)は、電極3が陰極となり、電極4が陽極となるように電圧が印加された状態を表し、図3(b)は、電極3が陽極となり、電極4が陰極となるように電圧が印加された状態を表している。
図4に表したように、電極3は、基体3aと、その上に設けられた触媒層3bと、を有する。なお、図4では、電極3の構成を例示しているが、電極4も同様の構成を有する。
まず、基体3aを用意し、基体3aの表面をブラスト処理などで粗面化する。さらに、処理後の基体3aを大気中で焼成することにより、基体の表面を酸化してもよい。
この実験において、触媒層3bの厚みは、いずれも3.6μmとした。また、ロジウム以外のタンタルとイリジウムについては、イリジウムの含有率に対するタンタルの含有率の比を、0.6とした。
ロジウムが含まれていない場合、耐久寿命は著しく短い。ロジウムの含有率が3モル%または10モル%の場合、ロジウムが含まれていない場合に比べて、耐久寿命が延びた。そして、ロジウムの含有率が31モル%以上となったところで、さらに耐久寿命が延びた。一方、ロジウムの含有率が50モル%を超えて70モル%になると、耐久寿命は短くなった。
また、製品の一般的な耐久寿命は、10年である。衛生洗浄装置10が10年間使用される場合、平均的に、電極3及び4には、累計で500hr通電される。ロジウムの含有率が60モル%を超えて70モル%になると、耐久寿命は、10年の耐久寿命である通電時間500hrより短くなった。
図8は、電極の触媒層におけるTa/Ir比率を変化させた際の、耐久寿命の変化を表すグラフである。この実験において、触媒層3bの厚みは、いずれも3.6μmとした。
図9(a)は、電解水生成装置1を使用する前の結果を表し、図9(b)は、電解水生成装置1で730時間電解を行った後の結果を表している。組成分析は、ロジウムの含有率が31モル%の触媒層を有する電極を用いて、エネルギー分散型X線分光法(SEM−EDX)により行った。
また、前述した各実施の形態が備える各要素は、技術的に可能な限りにおいて組み合わせることができ、これらを組み合わせたものも本発明の特徴を含む限り本発明の範囲に包含される。
Claims (3)
- 塩化物イオンを含む水を電解し、次亜塩素酸を含む電解水を生成する電解水生成装置であって、
前記水が通過する電解槽と、
前記電解槽内に設けられる電極と、
を備え、
前記電極は、酸化イリジウムと、酸化タンタルと、酸化ロジウムと、を含む触媒層を有し、
前記触媒層において、前記酸化イリジウムに含まれるイリジウムの原子数と、前記酸化タンタルに含まれるタンタルの原子数と、前記酸化ロジウムに含まれるロジウムの原子数と、の和に対する、前記ロジウムの原子数の割合は、31%以上60%以下である電解水生成装置。 - 前記イリジウムの原子数に対する、前記タンタルの原子数の比は、0.3以上1.8以下である請求項1記載の電解水生成装置。
- 前記イリジウムの原子数に対する、前記タンタルの原子数の比は、0.4以上1.1以下である請求項1または2記載の電解水生成装置。
