図1は、本発明のリチウムイオン二次電池の電池要素の概略断面図である。正極集電体3の両面に正極活物質層1が設けられ、正極電極が構成され、負極集電体4の両面に負極活物質層2が設けられ負極電極が構成される。これら正極電極および負極電極は交互にセパレータ5を介して積層され、電極群を構成する。正極および負極集電体の一部は活物質層が塗布されず、集電部を構成しており、同図では、正極集電体3の集電部と負極集電体4の集電部とが対向する側に延出するように正極電極と負極電極とが積層されている。正極集電体3の集電部は正極リード端子6に、負極集電体4の集電部は負極リード端子7にそれぞれ接続されている。同図においては、正極および負極リード端子には予め熱シール部8が塗説されている。
平均粒径5μmのスピネル構造を持つマンガン酸リチウム粉末、炭素質導電性付与材、およびポリフッ化ビニリデンを90:5:5の重量比でN−メチル−2−ピロリドン(NMP)に混合分散、攪拌してスラリーとした。NMPの量はスラリーが適当な粘度になるように調整した。このスラリーをドクターブレードを用いて、正極集電体となる厚さ20μmのアルミニウム箔の片面に均一に塗布した。塗布時には、わずかに未塗布部(集電体が露出している部分)が筋状にできるようにした。次にこれを100℃で2時間真空乾燥させた。同様にもう一方の面にもスラリーを塗布し、真空乾燥させた。この際、表裏の未塗布部が一致するようにした。このようにして両面に活物質を塗布したシートをロールプレスした。この際プレス圧力を調整し、集電体を除いた正極の厚さが、75ミクロンとなるようにした。これを未塗布部を含めて矩形(幅90mm×長さ150mm)に切り出したものを18枚用意した。活物質未塗布部はリード端子への接続予定部とするもので、短辺側に設けた。このようにして、合計の理論容量が3Ahとなる正極を用意した。
ロールプレス後の集電体を除いた正極の厚さが、130ミクロン、負極の厚さが120ミクロン以外は、実施例と同じにして積層ラミネート電池を完成させた。容量は5Ahである。
実施例と同様に正極、負極を作成した。正極および負極を、セパレータを介して対向させて巻くことによりロール状の巻回式電極をえた。巻回式電極では、セパレータの幅が最も広く、負極、正極の順に幅が狭くなる。巻回式電極の巻終わり部、つまり、最外周は、セパレータのみを数回巻くか、または、外装缶と接する部分には、活物質を形成していない負極(つまり、外缶と接する部分は負極集電体となる)を用いる。
リード端子の幅を30mm(B/A=0.33)とした以外、実施例1と同様にして積層ラミネート電池を完成させた。容量は2.5Ahである。

Claims (5)
- 正極集電体の両面に正極活物質層を形成した正極電極と、負極集電体の両面に負極活物質層を形成した負極電極とを、正極活物質層と負極活物質層とがそれぞれ対向するようにセパレータを介して交互に複数積層した電池要素に、液体電解質を含浸せしめ、ラミネート外装で保持したリチウムイオン二次電池であって、以下の構成よりなる放電深度50%、25℃での10秒出力値が3000W/kg以上であるリチウムイオン二次電池。
(1)正極活物質の平均粒径が3〜10μmであり、正極電極の集電体を除く厚みが30〜110μm、
(2)負極活物質の平均粒径が5〜10μmであり、正極電極の集電体を除く厚みが30〜100μm、
(3)正極端子および負極端子が互いに隔離して外周端縁部に導出され、前記正極端子および負極端子が各々
B/A≧0.57
(ただし、Aは電流の方向に対して垂直な方向の活物質領域の幅、Bは電流の方向に対して垂直な方向の電極端子幅を表す)
を満たす。 - 前記正極端子と負極端子を互いに対向して導出させたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記正極端子および負極端子のラミネート外装からの露出部が、ラミネート外装内部に位置する前記正極端子および負極端子の表面積よりも広い表面積を有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 請求項1乃至3の何れかに記載のリチウムイオン二次電池を前記正極端子または負極端子を介して複数個組み合わせてなる組電池。
- 前記正極端子および負極端子を冷却風により冷却可能にしてなる請求項4記載の組電池。
