Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain easily and simply a solid-state electrochemical element having improved reliability, by molding the element in the state that the surfaces of collectors embedded in a counter electrode, an operating electrode and a reference electrode are exposed, and by removing later a part of the reference electrode and of the second solid-electrolyte layer. CONSTITUTION:Each layer comprising the element is molded into a tablet separately from others beforehand at a temperature not causing the reaction of added thermosetting resin. In each of the counter electrode 11, the operating electrode 13 and the reference electrode 14 among the tablets thus molded are embedded beforehand the collectors 15, 16 and 16' provided for connection to lead wires, respectively. These layers are integrated into one body in a metal mold and joined into one by pressing under the condition that they are heated at a higher temperature than the setting temperature of resin, whereby the main body of the element is formed. After the main body of the element is taken out from the mold, a part of the reference electrode 14 and the solid-electrolyte layer 12' is cut and the collector 15 of the operating electrode is taken out. Then, the lead is connected to each collector with solder or a conductive bonding agent, cladding is made with resin as occasion calls, and thus the desired element is completed.
