Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the solid state electrochemical element, whose reliability is improved, readily and simply with a high yield rate, by removing parts of reference electrode and a second solid state electrolyte layer so that a part of each current collecting electrode which is embedded in an operating electrode is exposed. CONSTITUTION:Each layer of solid state electrolyte layers 12 and 12' including thermosetting resin and an opposite electrode 11, an operating electrode 13, and a reference electrode 14 is separately molded into a tablet. The current collecting electrodes 15, 16, and 16' which are provided for connections to lead wires, are embedded in the opposite electrodes 11, the operating electrode 13, and the reference electrode 14 is advance. These layers are stacked in a metal mold to form a unitary body, and bonded by the press working under the heated state at the temperature higher than the curing temperature of the resin to obtain the unitary body. Thus the main body of the element is formed. After the element has been taken out of the metal mold, parts of the reference electrode 14 and the solid state electrolyte layer 12' are cut away, the operating electrode and current collecting electrode 15 are taken out, a lead wire is attached to each current collecting electrode by a solder or a conducting bonding agent, and the resin is coated on the outer surface as required.
