- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.改良型の再充電可能なリチウム電池であって、前記再充電可能なリチウム電 池が、正極活性物質として構造の中にリチウムイオンを組み入れることができる 遷移金属化合物を含む正極、負極活性物質としてリチウムイオンを層間挿入でき る炭質粒子を含む負極、リチウムイオンを伝導する非水性電解質、及び電極と、 リチウムイオンを含んだ非水性電解質との間に分配されるリチウムイオンの全量 を有し、前記再充電可能なリチウム電池が、電池のグラム重量当たりミリアンペ ア-時で測定される容量(mAh/gt、アノード可逆容量(mAh/ga)及び カソード可逆容量(mAh/gc)を持つことにおいて、前記負極の負極活性物 質の重量(wa)及び前記正極の正極活性物質の重量(wc)が、前記再充電可能 なリチウム電池の前記アノード可逆容量と前記リチウム電池に含まれる負極活性 物質の前記重量との積と、前記再充電可能なリチウムイオン電池の前記カソード 可逆容量と前記リチウム電池に含まれる正極活性物質の前記重量との積の比が: mAh/ga×wa:mAh/gc×wc=0.85−1.15;であるよう に調節されることにより、少なくとも320ワット.時/リッターのエネルギー 密度を持つ再充電可能なリチウム電池を提供することを特徴とする前記再充電可 能なリチウム電池。 2.前記再充電可能なリチウム電池が、少なくとも130ワット.時/kgのエ ネルギー密度を持つ平板形電池であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載 の再充電可能なリチウム電池。 3.前記再充電可能なリチウム電池のリチウムイオンの前記全量の一部分が、前 記再充電可能なリチウム電池を構成する前記正極、前記負極、及びリチウムイオ ン伝導性の前記非水性電解質を組み立てた後であるが、前記再充電可能なリチウ ム電池を包装及び密閉する前に、リチウムイオンを層間挿入できる前記炭質粒子 の中へ導入されていることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の再充電可能な リチウム電池。 4.リチウムイオンの前記全量の前記部分が、リチウム元素、リチウム合金、及 びリチウムを含む化合物から成る群の1つから成る第3電極を使う電解的手段に より前記炭質粒子の中へ導入されていることを特徴とする請求の範囲第3項に記 載の再充電可能なリチウム電池。 5.リチウムイオンを構造体の中に組み入れることができる前記遷移金属化合物 が、遷移金属カルコゲン化合物であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載 の再充電可能なリチウム電池。 6.リチウムイオンを構造体の中に組み入れることができる遷移金属カルコゲン 化合物が、マンガン酸化物、コバルト酸化物、ニッケル酸化物、バナジウム酸化 物、クロム酸化物、銅酸化物、タングステン酸化物、及びそれらの合金の酸化物 、チタン硫化物及び鉄硫化物から成る群から選ばれることを特徴とする請求の範 囲第5項に記載の再充電可能なリチウム電池。 7.リチウムイオン伝導性の前記非水性電解質が、リチウムイオンを含む固体ポ リマー電解質であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の再充電可能なリ チウム電池。 8.リチウムイオン伝導性の前記非水性電解質が、リチウムを含む有機液体で含 浸されたミクロ多孔質ポリマーであることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載 の再充電可能なリチウム電池。 9.リチウムイオンを層間挿入できる炭質粒子が:石油コークス、ガラス状炭素 粒子、黒鉛粒子及び60μ未満のサイズの炭素粒子から成る群から選ばれること を特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の再充電可能なリチウム電池。 10.リチウムイオンを構造体の中に組み入れることができる遷移金属化合物とし てコバルト酸化物を有することであって、前記コバルト酸化物が123±5mA h/gの範囲のカソード可逆容量を持つことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記 載の再充電可能なリチウム電池。 11.リチウムイオンを構造体の中に組み入れることができる遷移金属化合物とし てマンガン酸化物を有し、前記マンガン酸化物が142±5mAh/gの範囲の カソード可逆容量を持つことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の再充電可能 なリチウム電池。 12.リチウムイオンを構造体の中に組み入れることができる遷移金属化合物とし てニッケル酸化物を有し、前記ニッケル酸化物が147±5mAh/gの範囲の カソード可逆容量を持つことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の再充電可能 なリチウム電池。
