Abstract
ることのない防食被覆鋼管の継手部の防食被覆方法を提
供する。 【解決手段】防食被覆鋼管22,23の端部同士を溶接
してなる継手部を熱収縮チューブで防食被覆する方法で
あり、上記チューブの外周部に剥離剤層が形成されてい
るとともに、この剥離剤層の外周部に発熱層5が形成さ
れてなる被覆用具1を準備し、上記継手部の溶接部分2
6およびその隣接部分27,28を被覆するように被覆
用具1を位置決め配設し、ついで上記両部分26〜28
と被覆用具1間の隙間を真空に保持し、その状態で被覆
用具1を熱収縮させ、そののち、剥離剤層と発熱層5を
除去し、チューブの熱収縮により上記両部分26〜28
を防食被覆するようにしている。
Description
水,石油,もしくは地域暖房の蒸気等のパイプラインに
用いられる防食被覆鋼管の継手部の防食被覆方法に関す
るものである。
の輸送用配管として、鋼管が使用されている。このよう
な鋼管の鋼材は水や酸素の存在下で腐食しやすい欠点が
あるため、一般的には、鋼管表面にアスファルト,コー
ルタールエナメルまたはポリエチレン(PE),エポキ
シ,ウレタン等を被覆して防食し、これにより、鋼管表
面に防食被覆層(この防食被覆層は工場で被覆形成され
るものであり、工場塗覆層ともいう)を設けるようにし
ている。
覆鋼管を用いると、その端部同士を溶接接続して配管工
事を行う際に、溶接時の高温度で防食被覆層が劣化する
という問題がある。そこで、上記防食被覆層の劣化を防
ぐため、両防食被覆鋼管の端部近傍の防食被覆層を予め
除去しておき、配管工事現場で端部同士を溶接接続した
のち、溶接部分の外周および防食被覆層が除去され鋼管
表面が露出した隣接部分の外周に防食用熱収縮チューブ
や防食用熱収縮シートを被覆セットし、これをプロパン
ガス等で加熱して熱収縮させ、この熱収縮材料で上記両
部分を防食被覆するようにしている。このような配管工
事現場における防食被覆方法は、防食被覆層と熱収縮材
料のラップを充分にとることで、防食被覆鋼管を、水や
空気等の腐食因子から保護して腐食を防ぐことができる
ため、防食性能に非常に優れており、多くの実用例があ
る。
防食被覆方法では、防食の必要な部分である、防食被覆
鋼管の両端部の平坦部(防食被覆層の表面およびこの防
食被覆層が除去された鋼管表面),溶接接続部の肉盛り
された部分,および防食被覆層が除去されたことで生じ
た(鋼管表面と防食被覆層の)段差部分等の表面が必ず
しも平滑ではなく不均一であるため、防食用熱収縮チュ
ーブ等の熱収縮時に、上記溶接肉盛り部分や段差部分等
に空気が残存することがある。また、鋼管表面や防食被
覆層等の平坦部においても上記熱収縮時にエアーボイド
を含有してしまうことが避けられなかった。このような
残存エアーは実用的に問題になるという程の量ではない
が、残存エアーに起因する腐食進行の不安や、エアー残
存部の衝撃等の機械的負荷に対する強度面の安全性につ
いての不安等が内在している。

きている。例えば、段差部にブチルゴムを主成分にした
シール材等を予め充填しておいたり、鋼管表面や防食被
覆層等の平坦部にアスファルトやブチルゴムを主成分と
した熱溶融材料を予め塗布しておいたりする方法が採ら
れている。しかしながら、両方法とも、完全にエアーボ
イドの残存を防止することができない。そのうえ、後者
の方法では、熱溶融材料を配管工事現場で溶融し塗装す
る必要があるため、発生ガスの問題や高温流体の取扱い
の安全性等の問題もある。

収縮チューブで防食被覆する方法であって、上記熱収縮
チューブの外周部に剥離剤層が形成されているととも
に、この剥離剤層の外周部に発熱層が形成されてなる被
覆用具を準備し、上記継手部において、その溶接部分の
外周および防食被覆物が除去され鋼管表面が露出した隣
接部分の外周を被覆するように上記被覆用具を位置決め
配設し、ついで、上記両部分と被覆用具との間の隙間を
真空に保持し、その状態で上記熱収縮チューブを熱収縮
させたのち発熱層を除去し、上記熱収縮させた熱収縮チ
ューブで上記両部分を防食被覆するようにしたという構
成をとる。
端部近傍の防食被覆層を予め除去して鋼管表面を露出さ
せた状態で、上記端部同士を現場溶接により継いだの
ち、この継手部を熱収縮材料で防食被覆する場合に、こ
の熱収縮材料による防食被覆部分に空気が残存しないよ
うにするため、一連の研究を行った。その結果、真空状
態で熱収縮材料を熱収縮させると、上記防食被覆部分に
空気が残存しないことを見出し、この発明に到達した。
また、この発明では、熱収縮チューブの外周部に剥離剤
層を介して発熱層を設けるようにしているため、熱収縮
チューブを熱収縮させたのち発熱層を除去することがで
きる。このため、発熱層が残存している場合の問題点
(発熱層が万一破れた場合に生じる金属〔ヒータとし
て、銅線等の金属線がよく用いられる〕腐食による早期
の腐食進行,表面凹凸による外観性不良や磨耗等)を容
易に排除することができる。特に、熱収縮チューブの内
周面に接着剤層を形成しておき、真空状態下で、加熱し
て熱収縮チューブを熱収縮させると同時に上記接着剤層
の作用により、鋼管の継手部の溶接部分の表面およびそ
の隣接部分の表面に密着させるようにするときには、空
気の残存がより少なくなる。また、上記継手部の両部分
と被覆用具の間の隙間を真空に保持する割型を被覆用具
の外周に配設したのち、2台の真空発生装置を上記割型
と接続し、上記割型内を真空にするに際して、2台のう
ち1台を稼働させて割型内を真空にし、その状態で被覆
用具を加熱収縮させ、この加熱収縮時において上記割型
内の真空度の低下を2台目の真空発生装置の稼働により
回復させ当初の真空度を維持させるようにした場合に
は、熱収縮チューブの加熱収縮時に割型内の真空度が低
下しても、当初の真空度に回復させることができる。

装置が用いられる。また、上記被覆用具は、熱収縮チュ
ーブの外周部に剥離剤層が形成され、この剥離剤層の外
周部に発熱層が形成された構成とされている。

好適には熱収縮性を有するプラスチックチューブが用い
られる。このようなプラスチック材料としては、ポリエ
チレン,変性ポリエチレン,ポリ塩化ビニル,ポリプロ
ピレン,エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体,ポリテトラフ
ルオロエチレン,テトラフルオロエチレン−パーフルオ
ロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合体等のフッ素樹脂等が
挙げられる。また、熱収縮チューブとしては、最初から
チューブ状に成形したもの、帯状体の端部同士を縫い合
わせて接合することによりチューブ状としたもの、ある
いは帯状体の端部に設けたチャックにより施工時にチュ
ーブ状とするようにしたもの等を使用できる。

するものが好適である。通電発熱式の発熱層としては、
例えば、プラスチックやゴムからなる絶縁層内に発熱線
(銅線等)を配置したもの、あるいはプラスチックやゴ
ムにカーボン粉末,金属粉末等の導電性粉末を混合して
成形した通電発熱シート等を挙げることができる。ま
た、この発熱層は熱収縮チューブの熱収縮に追随するも
の、あるいは追随しないものいずれであってもよい。な
お、発熱層が熱収縮チューブの熱収縮に追随するもので
あるときは、その追随を容易にするため発熱線を円周方
向に沿って蛇行状に配設するのが好ましい(図3参
照)。
剤層を形成する場合には、上記両部分の空気の残存をよ
り少なくできるうえ、熱収縮チューブが上記両部分に接
着して被覆形成しやすくなるという利点がある。この接
着剤層は熱収縮チューブの成形時に同時に形成する方法
や、熱収縮チューブの成形後にその内周面に接着剤を塗
工する方法等により形成できる。また、接着剤としては
感圧性接着剤,ホットメルト接着剤,熱硬化性接着剤あ
るいはマスチック型接着剤等がいずれも使用できる。

よいし、2分割式,3分割式等の割型の密閉装置を用い
てもよい。このような真空保持装置を真空引きする装置
としては、真空ポンプ等が用いられる。そして、この真
空引き装置による真空引きは上記熱収縮チューブの熱収
縮が終了するまで継続しておく必要がある。なお、真空
度は種々の条件に応じて適宜設定できるので、特に限定
されないが、通常、約200Torr以下、好ましくは
1〜100Torrとする。また、上記真空引き装置を
2台使用することが好ましい。このものでは、1台目の
真空引き装置で上記割型内を上記所定の真空度にし、発
熱層を発熱させ、その温度上昇中に真空保持装置のシー
ル部からの洩れ等のために真空度の低下が生じたとき
に、2台目の真空引き装置を稼働させて当初の真空度に
回復,維持させることができる。

る剥離剤層3が設けられるとともに、この剥離剤層3の
外周部に発熱層5が設けられている。そして、この発熱
層5には発熱線4(例えば、銅線)が円周に沿って蛇行
状に配置されている。一方、熱収縮チューブ2の内周面
には接着剤層6が設けられ、更に、該接着剤層6にはセ
パレータ7が剥離自在に仮着されている。図において、
8はリード線であり、9は接続端子である。

ー10は2分割型の円筒状体に形成されており、半円筒
状体に形成された上下一対の型11,12からなる。上
記上型11には、図5に示すように、その下端面に鍔部
13が突出形成されており、この鍔部13のうち、長手
方向に直交する端部に形成された両鍔部13a(一方の
端部に形成された鍔部は隠れて見えない)の下面(下記
の防食被覆鋼管22,23の防食被覆層24,25の外
周面に当接する面)にOリング装着用溝15が形成され
ている。一方、下型12にも、上記上型11と同様に、
その下端面に、上記上型11の鍔部13に対面する鍔部
14が突出形成されており、この鍔部14のうち、長手
方向に直交する端部に形成された鍔部14a(図8参
照)の下面にOリング装着用溝が形成されている。ま
た、上記下型12の鍔部14のうち、長手方向に沿う両
側部14bには、それぞれ2個所に固定手段が形成され
ている。この固定手段は、上記鍔部14bの下面に固定
されたブロック17と、コ字状に形成されこのコ字状の
下片18aがブロック17にヒンジ自在に取付けられた
固定具18と、この固定具18のコ字状の上片18bに
穿設されたねじ穴(図示せず)にら着された締付け用ね
じ棒19とからなり、この締付け用ねじ棒19を締め付
けることにより、上下の型11,12の鍔部13,14
を密着させて、内部の真空状態を保持しうるようにして
いる。

のようにして防食被覆鋼管22,23同士の継手部を防
食被覆することができる。すなわち、まず、図6に示す
ように、継ぎ合わせる両防食被覆鋼管22,23の端部
の防食被覆層24,25を予め除去しておき、これら両
端部を現場溶接で継ぎ合わせる。図において、26は溶
接部分で、27,28は鋼管表面22a,23aが露出
している隣接部分である。ついで、セパレータ7を剥離
した被覆用具1を、図7に示すように、上記溶接部分2
6、その隣接部分27,28およびこの近傍の防食被覆
層24,25の部分を被覆するようにして位置決めしセ
ットし、被覆用具1の4個の接続端子9(図には2個し
か示されていない)を電源コントローラ20の出力端子
20a(図には2個しか示されていない)に接続する。
つぎに、図8に示すように、真空チャンバー10をセッ
トする(このとき、Oリング21を上下型11,12の
Oリング装着用溝15に装着する)。つぎに、2台の真
空ポンプのうち、1台の真空ポンプを真空チャンバー1
0に接続し(連通状態にし)稼働させて真空チャンバー
10内を真空状態にする(例えば、60Torr以下に
する)。その状態で電源コントローラ20のスイッチを
ON作動させ発熱線4に通電して発熱させる。この発熱
により真空チャンバー10内の温度が上昇し、真空チャ
ンバー10内の真空度の低下が生じたとき(例えば、1
00Torrまで低下したとき)、2台目の真空ポンプ
を真空チャンバー10に接続し(連通状態にし)稼働さ
せて1台目の真空ポンプの稼働時の真空度に回復維持さ
せる。また、上記通電発熱により収縮チューブ2が熱収
縮し上記部分26〜28等を防食被覆する。つぎに、通
電および真空ポンプの稼働を止めて、真空チャンバー1
0を取り外し、図9に示すように、被覆用具1のリード
線8を切り取る。そののち、発熱層5および剥離剤層3
を除去する。このようにして、図10に示すように、防
食被覆鋼管22,23の継手部を熱収縮材料で被覆する
ことができる。なお、この例では、剥離剤層3を除去し
たが、この剥離剤層3を熱収縮したチューブ上に残存さ
せておくこともできる。
例では、防食被覆鋼管22,23として、外周面にポリ
エチレン製防食被覆層が形成された直径750mmの都
市ガス用パイプを用い、両パイプの端部の防食被覆層を
予め長手方向に150mm除去しておく。また、被覆用
具として内径850mm、長さ600mmに調整した日
東電工社製のネオヒートカバー1150Eを用いる。こ
の被覆用具はポリエチレン製熱収縮チューブ(厚さ1.
5mm、熱収縮率50%、熱収縮温度130℃)の外周
部にポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム(厚さ100
μm、溶融点約260℃)を1回巻きして剥離剤層と
し、この剥離剤層の外周部に銅線(直径0.7mm)を
配置したポリエチレン製発熱層(厚さ1mm、熱収縮性
を有しない)を設け、更に、チューブの内周部に設けら
れた接着剤層にセパレータを仮着させたものである。な

この被覆用具の構造は図1〜図3に示すものと同じであ
る。

た。その結果、上記継手部の溶接部分,鋼管表面および
段差部分等に残存エアーがなく、従来工法とは比較にな
らない被覆状態であった。これにより、この発明の真空
方式での熱収縮チューブの防食被覆方法の効果は明白で
ある。

態で、上記端部同士を現場溶接により継いだのち、この
継手部を熱収縮材料で防食被覆する場合にも、この熱収
縮材料による防食被覆部分に空気が残存しない。また、
この発明では、熱収縮チューブの外周部に剥離剤層を介
して発熱層が設けられているため、このチューブを熱収
縮させたのち発熱層を除去することができる。このた
め、発熱層が残存している場合の問題点(発熱層が万一
破れた場合に生じる金属〔ヒータとして、銅線等の金属
線がよく用いられている〕腐食による早期の腐食進行,

ことができる。この発明において、特に、熱収縮チュー
ブの内周面に接着剤層を形成する場合には、真空状態下

Claims (5)
- 【請求項1】 防食被覆鋼管の端部同士を溶接してなる
継手部を熱収縮チューブで防食被覆する方法であって、
上記熱収縮チューブの外周部に剥離剤層が形成されてい
るとともに、この剥離剤層の外周部に発熱層が形成され
てなる被覆用具を準備し、上記継手部において、その溶
接部分の外周および防食被覆物が除去され鋼管表面が露
出した隣接部分の外周を被覆するように上記被覆用具を
位置決め配設し、ついで、上記両部分と被覆用具との間
の隙間を真空に保持し、その状態で上記熱収縮チューブ
を熱収縮させたのち発熱層を除去し、上記熱収縮させた
熱収縮チューブで上記両部分を防食被覆するようにした
ことを特徴とする防食被覆鋼管の継手部の防食被覆方
法。 - 【請求項2】 上記両部分と被覆用具との間の隙間を真
空に保持することが可能な割型を、上記溶接部分の外周
とその隣接部分の外周に配設して上記両部分を割型内に
位置決めし、その状態で割型内を真空引きして行われる
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の防食被覆鋼管の継手部
の防食被覆方法。 - 【請求項3】 上記熱収縮チューブの内周面に接着剤層
が設けられている請求項1記載の防食被覆鋼管の継手部
の防食被覆方法。 - 【請求項4】 上記発熱層が通電により発熱するもので
ある請求項1記載の防食被覆鋼管の継手部の防食被覆方
法。 - 【請求項5】 請求項2において、真空に保持するため
の割型を被覆用具の外周に配設したのち、2台の真空発
生装置を上記割型と接続し、上記割型内を真空にするに
際して、2台のうち1台を稼働させて割型内を真空に
し、その状態で被覆用具を加熱収縮させ、この加熱収縮
時において上記割型内の真空度の低下を2台目の真空発
生装置の稼働により回復させ当初の真空度を維持させる
ようにしたことを特徴とする防食被覆鋼管の継手部の防
食被覆方法。
