PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-constracting cover sheet offering superior durability for coating a portion where steel pipes, etc. are connected together by a constitution wherein a heat-contracting loop is provided on both edge sides near the end of the cover sheet with contractibility in a direction along the side edge and an adhesive layer on its rear surface. CONSTITUTION:A heat-contracting cover sheet 1 is wound around a portion where steel pipes 9, etc. are connected together in such a way that an adhesive layer 3 is placed on the inside of the sheet proper 2. An end 7b of the cover sheet proper 2 is inserted into a loop 8 prepared near the other end 7a of the cover sheet proper 2 up to the middle of the loop. Next heat is applied from the outside of the belt 4 of the loop 8 so that the belt 4 is being heat-contracted. Then the adhesive layer 5 on the rear surface of the belt 4 is allowed to be attached to the ends 7a, 7b of the cover sheet proper 2. Simultaneously, the ends of the cover sheet proper are strongly connected together by making the belt 4 of the heat-contracted loop 8 seize tightly both the end portions 7a, 7b.
