ずれかのセクタに、ディスク識別子が記録される識別子
領域１６ａと、セキュリティコードが記録されるセキュ
リティ領域１６ｂとが設けられ、ディスク識別子には，
予め定められた識別コードが含まれ、セキュリティコー
ドには，セキュリティコードのチェック後に実行される
プログラムと、ライセンス表示のための表示用データと
が少なくとも含まれている。

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、音楽用のＣＤ（コンパ
クト・ディスク）を読み出し専用の記憶媒体に利用した
ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク及びそのセキュリティチェック方
法に関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】ＣＤ（コンパクト・ディスク）は従来音
を記録する媒体のひとつであったが、従来のどの記録媒
体よりも著しく多量の情報をデジタル記録できるため、
音楽以外の画像やデータ等の他の情報を記録するための
大容量メモリとして注目されている。
【０００３】テレビゲーム機においては、音楽用のＣＤ
に大容量のデータを記憶するようにしたＣＤ−ＲＯＭデ
ィスクにゲームプログラムの他に画像情報等も記録して
おき、ゲームの進行に応じてＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクに記
録された画像情報を読み出してゲームのビデオ画像とし
て利用することが行われている。ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク
を利用することにより従来に比べて画質のよい表現力に
非常に優れたテレビゲームを実現することができる。こ
のため、ゲームソフトの供給方式も従来のカートリッジ
によるものの他に、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクによるものが
現れている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】一般に、カートリッジ
の場合もＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクの場合も、特定のテレビ
ゲーム機専用であり、各テレビゲーム機メーカがゲーム
ソフトメーカにライセンスを与えて制作するようにして
いる。このため、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクに対しても、従
来のカートリッジの場合と同様に、プレイするテレビゲ
ーム機用のものかどうかを判定すると共に、正当なライ
センスを受けた真性なものである旨のライセンス表示を
行う必要がある。
【０００５】本発明の目的は、ディスク種別を判定し、
正当なライセンスを受けた真性なものであることをチェ
ックすることができるＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク及びそのセ
キュリティチェック方法を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】上記目的は、起動時に読
み出されるブートセクタ中のいずれかのセクタに、ディ
スク識別子が記録される識別子領域と、セキュリティコ
ードが記録されるセキュリティ領域とが設けられ、ディ
スク識別子には、予め定められた識別コードが含まれ、
セキュリティコードには、セキュリティコードのチェッ
ク後に実行されるプログラムと、ライセンス表示のため
の表示用データとが少なくとも含まれていることを特徴
とするＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクによって達成される。
【０００７】上記目的は、起動時にＣＤ−ＲＯＭディス
ク内のブートセクタに記録されたデータを読み出し、ブ
ートセクタの識別子領域から読み出されたディスク識別
子を、記憶されたディスク識別子と比較して正誤を判定
し、ブートセクタのセキュリティ領域から読み出された
セキュリティコードを、記憶されたセキュリティコード
と比較して正誤を判定し、読み出されたディスク識別子
及びセキュリティコードが正しいと判定された場合は、
セキュリティコードに含まれるプログラムを実行するこ
とにより、表示用データを用いてライセンス表示をする
ことを特徴とするＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクのセキュリティ
チェック方法によって達成される。

【作用】本発明によれば、起動時にＣＤ−ＲＯＭディス
ク内のブートセクタに記録されたデータを読み出し、ブ
ートセクタの識別子領域から読み出されたディスク識別
子を、記憶されたディスク識別子と比較して正誤を判定
し、ブートセクタのセキュリティ領域から読み出された
セキュリティコードを、記憶されたセキュリティコード
と比較して正誤を判定し、読み出されたディスク識別子
及びセキュリティコードが正しいと判定された場合は、
セキュリティコードに含まれるプログラムを実行して、
正当なライセンスを受けた真性なものであることをチェ
ックすることができる。

【実施例】本発明の一実施例によるＣＤ−ＲＯＭディス
クを図１を用いて説明する。同図（ａ）にＣＤ−ＲＯＭ
ディスクの平面図を示し、同図（ｂ）〜（ｄ）にＣＤ−
ＲＯＭディスク内のフォーマットを示す。本実施例のＣ
Ｄ−ＲＯＭディスク１０は、図１（ａ）に示すように、
直径が１２０ｍｍで中央に１５ｍｍのセンターホール１
２が形成されている。ＲＯＭデータやオーディオデータ
が記録された記録領域１４の最内周トラックには起動時
に最初に読み出されるブートセクタ１６が設けられてい
る。
【００１０】ブートセクタ１６は、図１（ｂ）に示すよ
うに、論理セクタ番号０〜１５の範囲のセクタである。
ディスク識別子とセキュリティコードは、１６個のブー
トセクタ中のいずれかに記録され、記録又は読出エラー
を考慮して複数のブートセクタに記録しておく。通常は
論理セクタ番号０である最初のブートセクタに記録して
おく。
【００１１】ディスク識別子は、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク
１０の種別を示すもので、図１（ｃ）に示すように、ブ
ートセクタ１６の先頭の識別子領域１６ａに記録されて
いる。本実施例では、“ＳＥＧＡＤＩＳＣＳＹＳＴＥＭ
□□”と“ＳＥＧＡＢＯＯＴＤＩＳＣ□□□□”（但
し、□はスペースである）という２種類のディスク識別
子を定めている。“ＳＥＧＡＤＩＳＣＳＹＳＴＥＭ□
□”は１枚で完結するゲームソフトのＣＤ−ＲＯＭディ
スクに付されたディスク識別子であり、“ＳＥＧＡＢＯ
ＯＴＤＩＳＣ□□□□”は複数枚で構成されるゲームソ
フトの最初のＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクに付されたディスク
識別子である。
【００１２】セキュリティコードは、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディ
スク１０がテレビゲーム機メーカからライセンスされた
ものであることを示すものであり、図１（ｃ）に示すよ
うに、ブートセクタ１６内の予め定められたアドレスか
らのセキュリティ領域１６ｂに記録されている。ブート
セクタ１６のセキュリティ領域１６ｂ以降は、図１
（ｃ）に示すように、ゲームプログラムのようなアプリ
ケーション等を記録するユーザ領域１６ｃとして利用で
きる。
【００１３】セキュリティコードには、図１（ｄ）に示
すように、セキュリティコードのチェック後に実行され
るプログラムと、表示するロゴの色を示す色データと、
表示するロゴのパターンを示すロゴパターンデータと、
ライセンスされた旨のメッセージ（PRODUCED BY OR UND
ER LICENCE FROM XXXX KABUSHIKI KAISHA)のメッセージ
データとが含まれている。特に、本実施例では、セキュ
リティコードのチェック後に実行されるプログラム自身
をセキュリティコードに含ませていることに特徴があ
る。
【００１４】本実施例のプログラムは、テレビゲーム装
置本体に設けられたメインＣＰＵが実行するプログラム
であって、図１（ｄ）に示すように、７つのステップか
ら構成されている。最初の第１ステップは、テレビゲー
ム装置をリセットしたときにメインＣＰＵがジャンプす
るアドレスをセットするステップである。
【００１５】次の第２ステップは、テレビゲーム装置本
体にＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクのために装着されるＣＤ−Ｒ
ＯＭ装置に設けられたサブＣＰＵの動作を一時的に停止
させるステップである。次の第３ステップは、サブＣＰ
Ｕ内のプログラムメモリの内容をＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク
に記録されたデータに書換えるステップである。
【００１６】次の第４ステップは、一時的に停止してい
たサブＣＰＵの動作を再開するステップである。次の第
５ステップは、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクに記録された各種
データの先頭アドレスをメインＣＰＵのレジスタにセッ
トするステップである。次の第６ステップは、ＣＤ−Ｒ
ＯＭ装置内に記憶された所定のプログラムルーチンを実
行するステップである。このプログラムルーチンにより
ライセンス表示などの初期動作を行う。
【００１７】本実施例のプログラムルーチンでは次のよ
うな初期動作を行う。まず、バーチカルインタラプトの
アドレスをセットする。次に、音声プロセッサとビデオ
プロセッサを初期化すると共にビデオＲＡＭをクリア
し、アスキーキャラクタグラフィックをセットする。続
いて、セキュリティコード１６ｂ内の色データを用いて
表示カラーをセットし、セキュリティコード１６ｂ内の
ロゴパターンデータを用いてロゴのキャラクタグラフィ
ックをセットする。続いて、セキュリティコード１６ｂ
内のメッセージデータ（PRODUCED BY OR UNDER LICENCE
FROM XXXX KABUSHIKI KAISHA)をテレビ画面に表示し、
ロゴ用マップをセットしてテレビ画面にロゴを表示す
る。次に、約１秒間待った後、ライセンスしたテレビゲ
ーム機メーカを表示する音声を出力し、ロゴマークの色
を変化させた後にテレビ画面表示をクリアする。
【００１８】最後の第７ステップは、ゲームプログラム
のようなアプリケーションプログラムにジャンプするス
テップである。次に、本発明の一実施例によるＣＤ−Ｒ
ＯＭディスクのセキュリティチェック方法を図２及び図
３を用いて説明する。図２及び図３に示すフローチャー
トのうち、ステップ１０１からステップ１０６までは、
テレビゲーム装置本体にＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクのために
装着されるＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置に設けられたサブＣＰＵに
よるセキュリティコードのチェック動作であり、ステッ
プ１０７以降はテレビゲーム装置本体に設けられたメイ
ンＣＰＵによる動作である。
【００１９】まず、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク１０から読み
出された１曲目がＲＯＭトラックか否か判定する（ステ
ップＳ１０１）。ＲＯＭトラックでなければ音楽用ディ
スクと判定される。ＲＯＭトラックであると判定される
と、最初のブートセクタ１６をロードする（ステップＳ
１０２）。次に、ブートセクタ１６内の識別子領域１６
ａに記録されたディスク識別子を、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置内
のメモリに記憶されたディスク識別子と比較してディス
ク識別子のチェックを行う（ステップＳ１０３）。
【００２０】記憶されたディスク識別子と一致しないと
判定されると、全てのブートセクタ１６をロードしたか
否か判断し（ステップＳ１０４）、ロードしていないブ
ートセクタ１６が残っている場合にはロードセクタを次
にセットし（ステップＳ１０５）、ステップＳ１０２に
処理を戻す。全てのブートセクタ１６をロードしても記
憶されたディスク識別子と一致しない場合には、ＣＤ−
ＲＯＭディスクではあるがゲーム用ディスク以外のその
他のディスクとして判定される。
【００２１】ステップＳ１０３で記憶されたディスク識
別子と一致すると判定されると、続いて、ブートセクタ
１６内のセキュリティ領域１６ｂに記録されたセキュリ
ティコードを、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置内のメモリに記憶され
たセキュリティコードと比較してセキュリティコードの
チェックを行う（ステップＳ１０６）。記憶されたセキ
ュリティコードと一致すると、正当なライセンスを受け
た真性なゲーム用ディスクと判定される。記憶されたセ
キュリティコードに一致しないと、その他のディスクと
判定される。
【００２２】ここまでの動作がＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置に設け
られたサブＣＰＵによる動作である。続いて、テレビゲ
ーム装置本体に設けられたメインＣＰＵの動作が行われ
る。まず、装填されたＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク１０がゲー
ム用ディスクであるかどうか判定される（ステップＳ１
０７）。ゲーム用ディスクでない場合には、通常の音楽
用ＣＤの操作のみを可能にする（ステップＳ１０８）。
なお、常にＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置のトレイが開けられたか否
かを判定し（ステップＳ１０９）、トレイが開けられた
場合には装填されたＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク１０が交換さ
れた可能性があるので、ステップ１０１に処理を戻す。
【００２３】ステップＳ１０７で装填されたＣＤ−ＲＯ
Ｍディスク１０がゲーム用ディスクであると判定される
と、テレビ画面に「ＣＤ−ＲＯＭ」と表示し（ステップ
Ｓ１１０）、通常の音楽用ＣＤの操作とゲームの操作を

−ＲＯＭ装置のトレイが開けられたか否かを判定し（ス
テップＳ１１２）、トレイが開けられた場合には装填さ
れたＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク１０が交換された可能性があ
るので、ステップ１０１に処理を戻す。
【００２４】続いて、音楽用ＣＤの操作とゲームの操作
のどちらを選択したかどうかを判定し（ステップＳ１１
３）、ゲームの操作が選択されると次に説明するステッ
プＳ１１４以下の処理に移る。まず、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディ
スクからセキュリティコードをロードする（ステップＳ
１１４）。次に、セキュリティコードに含まれるプログ
ラムの実行を開始する（ステップＳ１１５）。
【００２５】まず、プログラムの第１ステップを実行し
て、テレビゲーム装置をリセットしたときにメインＣＰ
Ｕがジャンプするアドレスをセットする（ステップＳ１
１６）。次に、プログラムの第２ステップを実行して、
ＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置に設けられたサブＣＰＵの動作を一時
的に停止させる（ステップＳ１１７）。
【００２６】次に、プログラムの第３ステップを実行し
て、サブＣＰＵ内のプログラムメモリの内容をＣＤ−Ｒ
ＯＭディスクに記録されたデータに書換える（ステップ
Ｓ１１８）。次に、プログラムの第４ステップを実行し
て、一時的に停止していたサブＣＰＵの動作を再開する
（ステップＳ１１９）。
【００２７】次に、プログラムの第５ステップを実行し
て、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクに記録された各種データの先
頭アドレスをメインＣＰＵのレジスタにセットする（ス
テップＳ１２０）。次に、プログラムの第６ステップを
実行して、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置内に記憶された所定のプロ
グラムルーチンを実行する（ステップＳ１２１）。この
プログラムルーチンでは前述したライセンス表示などの
初期設定動作を行う。
【００２８】ＣＤ−ＲＯＭ装置内に記憶されたプログラ
ムルーチンから戻ると、プログラムの第７ステップを実
行してアプリケーションプログラムにジャンプし（ステ
ップＳ１２２）、ゲーム等のアプリケーションプログラ
ムの実行に移り、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクのセキュリティ
チェック動作を終了する。本発明は上記実施例に限らず
種々の変形が可能である。例えば、セキュリティコード
に含まれるプログラムとしては、上記実施例のような動
作をするものに限らずいかなる種類のプログラムでもよ
い。

【発明の効果】以上の通り、本発明によれば、起動時に
ＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク内のブートセクタに記録されたデ
ータを読み出し、ブートセクタの識別子領域から読み出
されたディスク識別子を、記憶されたディスク識別子と
比較して正誤を判定し、ブートセクタのセキュリティ領
域から読み出されたセキュリティコードを、記憶された
セキュリティコードと比較して正誤を判定し、読み出さ
れたディスク識別子及びセキュリティコードが正しいと
判定された場合は、セキュリティコードに含まれるプロ
グラムを実行して、正当なライセンスを受けた真性なも
のであることをチェックすることができる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 起動時に読み出されるブートセクタ中の
    いずれかのセクタに、ディスク識別子が記録される識別
    子領域と、セキュリティコードが記録されるセキュリテ
    ィ領域とが設けられ、 前記ディスク識別子には、予め定められた識別コードが
    含まれ、 前記セキュリティコードには、前記セキュリティコード
    のチェック後に実行されるプログラムと、ライセンス表
    示のための表示用データとが少なくとも含まれているこ
    とを特徴とするＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク。
  2. 【請求項２】 請求項１記載のＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクの
    セキュリティチェック方法において、 起動時にＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスク内の前記ブートセクタに
    記録されたデータを読み出し、 前記ブートセクタの前記識別子領域から読み出されたデ
    ィスク識別子を、記憶されたディスク識別子と比較して
    正誤を判定し、 前記ブートセクタの前記セキュリティ領域から読み出さ
    れたセキュリティコードを、記憶されたセキュリティコ
    ードと比較して正誤を判定し、 読み出された前記ディスク識別子及び前記セキュリティ
    コードが正しいと判定された場合は、前記セキュリティ
    コードに含まれる前記プログラムを実行することによ
    り、前記表示用データを用いてライセンス表示をするこ
    とを特徴とするＣＤ−ＲＯＭディスクのセキュリティチ
    ェック方法。
