Description
第1実施形態
図1は、本発明の実施形態に係る密封装置が使用される転がり軸受の一例である自動車用のハブ軸受を示す。但し、本発明の用途はハブ軸受には限定されず、他の転がり軸受にも本発明は適用可能である。また、以下の説明では、ハブ軸受は、玉軸受であるが、本発明の用途は玉軸受には限定されず、他の種類の転動体を有する、ころ軸受、針軸受などの他の転がり軸受にも本発明は適用可能である。
図6は、本発明の第2実施形態に係る密封装置50を示す。図6において、第1実施形態と共通する構成要素を示すため、同一の符号が使用され、それらの構成要素については詳細には説明しない。

Claims (4)
- 転がり軸受の回転する内側部材と固定された外側部材との間に配置され、前記内側部材と前記外側部材との間の間隙を封止する密封装置であって、
前記内側部材に固定される環状の回転シール部材と、
前記外側部材の端部に固定される環状のシールカバーとを備え、
前記シールカバーは、
前記外側部材に固定される固定部分と、
前記回転シール部材よりも半径方向外側に配置され、その先端と前記内側部材との隙間を介してのみ異物の侵入を許容することで外部から前記回転シール部材へ異物を侵入しがたくする保護部分とを備え、
前記回転シール部材は、
前記内側部材に固定される取付部分と、前記取付部分から前記シールカバーに向けて延びるシールリップとダストリップとを備え、
前記ダストリップは、前記取付部分から前記シールカバーに向けて、かつ半径方向外側に向けて斜めに延び、
前記シールカバーの前記保護部分と前記回転シール部材の外縁部分との間に異物が通過することが可能な間隔が設けられ、当該間隔は、前記外側部材の前記端部の端面と当該端面に対向する前記内側部材の面との隙間よりも半径方向外側に位置していると共に、半径方向外側に向かうほど小さくなっており、外部まで連通していることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 前記シールカバーは、前記外側部材よりも半径方向内側に配置される、前記外側部材および前記内側部材と同心の筒状部分をさらに備え、
前記回転シール部材の前記シールリップは、前記取付部分から前記筒状部分に向けて、かつ半径方向外側に向けて斜めに延びることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の密封装置。 - 前記回転シール部材の外縁部分は、前記外側部材の前記端部に最も近傍にある前記内側部材の第1の壁面と、前記第1の壁面よりも半径方向外側にあり前記第1の壁面よりも窪んだ前記内側部材の第2の壁面との間の傾斜面よりも、外側に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の密封装置。
- 前記シールカバーは、
前記外側部材の前記端部に密着させられる外側壁部分と、
前記外側壁部分よりも半径方向内側、かつ前記転がり軸受の転動体側に配置された内側壁部分とをさらに備え、
前記回転シール部材は、二つのダストリップを備え、
前記ダストリップのうち半径方向外側に配置されたダストリップは、前記取付部分から前記シールカバーの前記外側壁部分に向けて延び、
前記ダストリップのうち半径方向内側に配置されたダストリップは、前記取付部分から前記シールカバーの前記内側壁部分に向けて延びることを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載の密封装置。
