『項1. カーボンブラック100質量部あたり鉄元素を0.01~2.00質量部含むカーボンブラック。
項2. X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Fe(atomic%)と、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度C(atomic%)の比(Fe/C)が0.001~0.010である項1に記載のカーボンブラック。
項3. 表面積当たりの酸吸着量が0.40μmol/m2以上である項1又は2に記載のカーボンブラック。
項4. 項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のカーボンブラックを含有するインキ。
項5. 項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のカーボンブラックを含有する塗料、プラスチック用着色剤、着色成形品、文具・筆記具用着色剤、捺染剤、トナー、カラーフィルタ用分散液・レジスト、及び化粧料。』に関する。
本発明のカーボンブラックは、通常の炭素主体の微粒子であるカーボンブラックが特定量の鉄元素を含有するものである。本発明のカーボンブラックは、カーボンブラック100質量部あたり鉄元素を0.01~2.00質量部(1,000~20,000ppm)含む。鉄元素の含有量は好ましくは0.05~1.80質量部、より好ましくは0.3~1.50質量部である。鉄元素の含有量が上記範囲であるとインキとしたときの分散安定性に優れ、低粘度となる。鉄元素の含有量は、例えばエネルギー分散型蛍光X線分析装置を用いて測定することができる。
本発明のカーボンブラックは、例えば通常の市販のカーボンブラックに特有の処理をすることで得られる。まず、市販のカーボンブラックを準備する。使用する原料となるカーボンブラックは、特に限定なくコンタクト法、ファーネス法、サーマル法等によって製造された、オイルファーネスブラック、ガスファーネスブラック、チャンネルブラック、アセチレンブラックなどの市販されている各種のものでよい。
本発明のインキは、上記本発明のカーボンブラックを含む限り特に制限されない。本発明のインキは、オフセット印刷、グラビア印刷、フレキソ印刷、スクリーン印刷、インクジェット方式での印刷等の各種用途に用いることができる。本発明のインキは、上記本発明のカーボンブラックを含むため、低粘度であり、顔料の分散性や透明性に優れる。よって、本発明のインキは、平版オフセット印刷用の平版オフセットインキ、グラビア印刷用やフレキソ印刷用に適用できるリキッドインキ、インクジェットインキとして好適に使用することができる。
本発明のカーボンブラックは、透明性に優れ、分散性が良く、低粘度であるという優れた物性を有するため、インキ以外の各種用途にも好適に用いることができる。各種用途としては、塗料、プラスチック用着色剤、文具・筆記具用着色剤、着色成形品、捺染剤、トナー、カラーフィルタ用分散液・レジスト、及び化粧料が挙げられる。本発明の塗料、プラスチック用着色剤、文具・筆記具用着色剤、捺染剤、トナー、カラーフィルタ用分散液・レジスト、及び化粧料は、本発明のカーボンブラックを含む。

カーボンブラック-A(粒子径47nm、DBP吸油量47cm3/100g、窒素吸着比表面積48m2/g、pH3.1)150部を水500部に加え、1時間撹拌し、カーボンブラックを水に濡らす。次に、水2350部を加え、1時間撹拌した後、硫酸鉄(II)七水和物6.84部を加え、さらに30分間撹拌する。ここに、35%過酸化水素214.3部を添加し、1時間撹拌し、硫酸鉄(II)七水和物1.71部を加え、1時間撹拌した。続いて、カーボンブラックスラリーを濾過、水洗、98℃で一昼夜乾燥、粉砕して、カーボンブラック-1(CB-1)を得た。CB-1に含まれる鉄元素量は8590ppm(0.8590%)、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.4atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは97.1atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.0041だった。
実施例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-B(粒子径47nm、DBP吸油量69cm3/100g、窒素吸着比表面積55m2/g、pH8.0)に変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-2(CB-2)を得た。CB-2に含まれる鉄元素量は10930ppm(1.0930%)、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.4atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは94.4atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.0042だった。
実施例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-C(粒子径38nm、DBP吸油量65cm3/100g、窒素吸着比表面積46m2/g、pH中性)に変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-3(CB-3)を得た。CB-3に含まれる鉄元素量は12230ppm(1.2230%)、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.3atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは94.3atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.0032だった。
実施例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-D(粒子径75nm、DBP吸油量72cm3/100g、窒素吸着比表面積25m2/g、pH中性)に変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-4(CB-4)を得た。CB-4に含まれる鉄元素量は10630ppm(1.0630%)、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.4atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは93.1atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.0043だった。
実施例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-E(粒子径31nm、DBP吸油量44cm3/100g、窒素吸着比表面積62m2/g、pH3.6)に変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-5(CB-5)を得た。CB-5に含まれる鉄元素量は12410ppm(1.2410ppm)、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.4atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは95.5atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.0042だった。
実施例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-F(粒子径25nm、DBP吸油量115cm3/100g、窒素吸着比表面積180m2/g、pH3.0)に変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-6(CB-6)を得た。CB-6に含まれる鉄元素量は10150ppm(1.0150%)、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.4atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは95.2atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.0042だった。
カーボンブラック-A 150部を水500部に加え、1時間撹拌し、カーボンブラックを水に濡らす。次に、水2350部を加え、3時間撹拌した。続いて、カーボンブラックスラリーを濾過、水洗、98℃で一昼夜乾燥、粉砕して、カーボンブラック-1’(CB-1’)を得た。CB-1’に含まれる鉄元素量は4ppm、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.0atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは98.4atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.00だった。
比較例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-Bに変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-2’ (CB-2’)を得た。CB-2’に含まれる鉄元素量は6ppm、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.0atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは98.4atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.00だった。
比較例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-Cに変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-3’(CB-3)’を得た。CB-3’に含まれる鉄元素量は9ppm、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.0atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは98.3atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.00だった。
比較例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-Dに変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-4’(CB-4’)を得た。CB-4’に含まれる鉄元素量は26ppm、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.0atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは98.0atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.00だった。
比較例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-Eに変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-5’ (CB-5’)を得た。CB-5’に含まれる鉄元素量は8ppm、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.0atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは98.2atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.00だった。
比較例1のカーボンブラック-Aを、カーボンブラック-Fに変更した以外は同様の操作を行い、カーボンブラック-6’ (CB-6’)を得た。CB-6’に含まれる鉄元素量は9ppm、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Feは0.0atomic%、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度Cは95.2atomic%、その比Fe/Cは0.00だった。
上記実施例1~6、比較例1~6で得られたカーボンブラックそれぞれについて、カーボンブラック15g、ポリウレタン樹脂サンプレンIB-501(三洋化成工業株式会社製)30g、酢酸エチル19.5g、イソプロピルアルコール10.5g、1/8インチスチールビーズ(持木鋼球軸受株式会社製)180gを250mLポリエチレン製広口瓶に入れ、ペイントシェーカー(株式会社東洋精機製作所製)で30分間分散し、ポリウレタンインキをそれぞれ得た。
得られたポリウレタンインキを20℃恒温槽で1時間以上静置し、R85形粘度計RB85L(東機産業株式会社製)で回転速度6rpmでの粘度を測定した。
得られたポリウレタンインキを多重安全式乾燥器MSO-45TPH(株式会社二葉化学製)中に50℃で7日間静置し、その後20℃恒温槽で1時間以上静置してR85形粘度計RB85L(東機産業株式会社製)で回転速度60rpmでの経時粘度を測定した。
前記ポリウレタンインキの初期粘度測定・経時粘度測定で得られた値を下記式に当てはめ、粘度変化率を計算した。粘度変化率の絶対値が小さいほど、分散安定性に優れる。

さらに、表1中では下記のように分散安定性をA/B/Cの3段階で評価した。
A:-100%<粘度変化率<+100%
B:-200%<粘度変化率≦-100%、もしくは+100%≦粘度変化率<+200%
C:粘度変化率≦-200%、もしくは粘度変化率≧+200%以上
窒素吸着比表面積(BET)の測定は、カーボンブラック約200mgを用い、1点法による気体吸着量の測定により、全自動比表面積測定装置Macsorb HM model-1208(株式会社マウンテック製)で行った。
重量および表面積当たりの酸吸着量は、以下の方法で測定した。カーボンブラック約100mgを吸着用酸溶液15mLと共に50mLポリエチレン製広口瓶に秤量し、ペイントシェーカー(株式会社東洋精機製作所製)で混合撹拌した(750cpm、15分)。続いて、冷却高速遠心機H-2000B(株式会社コクサン製)で遠心分離(3500G、20分)してカーボンブラックを沈降させた後、上澄み液10mLを分取した。これを酢酸n-プロピル(関東化学株式会社製)15mLで希釈し、自動滴定装置COM-A19(株式会社HIRANUMA製)により吸着用塩基溶液により電位差滴定を行うことで、上澄み溶液中に存在する未吸着の酸量を測定した。求めた未吸着の酸量を、加えた酸量から差し引くことで、カーボンブラックの重量当たりの酸吸着量を算出した。また、カーボンブラックの表面積当たりの酸吸着量は、重量当たりの酸吸着量を窒素吸着比表面積で除することで算出した。
重量および表面積当たりの塩基吸着量は、前述の酸吸着量測定の吸着用酸溶液と吸着用塩基溶液を入れ替えて、同様の操作を行うことで測定した。
なお、吸着用塩基溶液としては、ファクター値の分かっている0.1mol/L水酸化テトラ-n-ブチルアンモニウム溶液(N/10)(ベンゼン・メタノール溶液)(関東化学株式会社製)を、酢酸n-プロピル(関東化学株式会社製)で正確に100分の1に希釈することで作製した。また、吸着用酸溶液としては、p-トルエンスルホン酸一水和物(関東化学株式会社製)約95mgを500mLの酢酸n-プロピル(関東化学株式会社製)に溶解させ、前述の吸着用塩基溶液で濃度を滴定後に使用した。
Claims (3)
- カーボンブラック100質量部あたり鉄元素を0.3~2.00質量部含み、表面積当たりのp-トルエンスルホン酸の吸着量が0.40μmol/m2以上であるインキ用カーボンブラック。
- 前記カーボンブラックが、X線光電子分光法によるカーボンブラック粒子表面鉄元素濃度Fe(atomic%)と、カーボンブラック粒子表面炭素元素濃度C(atomic%)の比(Fe/C)が0.001~0.010である請求項1に記載のインキ用カーボンブラック。
- 請求項1又は2に記載のインキ用カーボンブラックを含有するインキ。
