記載したcc−TWC又はHCトラップ若しくはSCR触媒は、それぞれ、基材モノリス上に配置される。基材は通常触媒を調製するために使用されるこれらの材料のいずれかであってよく、セラミック又は金属ハニカム構造を含むのが好ましい。通路がそこを通る流量を受け入れるように、基材の入口又は出口面からそこを通り抜けて延びる微細な、平行のガス流路を有するタイプのモノリシック基材などの任意の好適な基材を使用することができる(ハニカム型流通基材と称される)。通路を通って流れているガスが触媒材料と接触するように、流入口から流出口へ本質的に真直ぐな経路である通路は触媒材料がウォッシュコートとしてその上又はその中にコーティングされる壁によって画定される。モノリシック基材の流路は、例えば台形、長方形、正方形、正弦波、六角形、楕円形、円形などの任意の好適な断面形状及びサイズであり得る薄壁のチャネルである。かかる構造体は断面積の平方インチ当たり約400〜900又はそれより多くのガス導入開口部(すなわち、セル)を含み得る(62〜140セル/cm2)。
本発明によれば、上流のcc−TWC基材又は下流のHCトラップのTWCは三元機能を含む触媒を担持する適切なウォッシュコートでコーティングされる。従来技術でよく知られているプロセスにより複合材料は容易に調製することが可能である。本明細書で使用する場合、用語「ウォッシュコート」は、ガス流が通り抜ける通路が処理されることを可能にするように十分に開いているハニカム型キャリア部材(貫流モノリス)などの基材支持材料に適用される、触媒の又はその他の材料の薄い、接着性コーティングという当該技術分野における通常の意味を有する。
本発明の排気後処理システムに関連する更なる吸蔵材料は炭化水素(HC)のための吸蔵材料である。かかる材料は、同様に、当業者にはよく知られている(韓国特許出願公開第20040042177号)。ゼオライト材料は、通常、炭化水素を吸蔵するために使用される。排気ガスが低温の間に(例えば、コールドスタート中に)炭化水素は吸着され、より高い排気ガス温度に到達した場合に脱着され転換される。ほとんどの場合は例えばPGMのような触媒中心において炭化水素の転換が生じる。したがって、触媒的に活性な中心がまだ活性ではない場合に炭化水素を吸蔵するために及び触媒中心がそれらの着火温度に到達した場合にこの炭化水素を脱着するために炭化水素吸蔵材料を三元触媒コンバータに一体化することが普通である。この場合、本発明によれば、触媒のTWC機能と併せて炭化水素吸蔵を下流のuf−モノリスに一体化されてよい。
SCR触媒コンバータは窒素酸化物をアンモニアと反応させることができ、リーンな排気ガス状態下で窒素を形成する。SCR触媒コンバータは、通常、アンモニアの吸蔵機能を有し、遷移金属と交換され得るゼオライト材料を含む。SCR触媒コンバータは、そのアンモニア吸蔵が、少なくとも部分的に充填される場合に、特に活性となる。この場合、リッチな排気ガスの段階において、cc−TWCによりアンモニアはその場で生成される。アンモニアは極めて刺激性の臭気を有するため、過度の形成の結果としてのアンモニアの余剰排出又は急速な温度上昇の結果としてのアンモニアの脱着は極力防止されなければならず、二次排出又は三次排出として大気へと未処理で排泄すべきではない。
図1は本発明によるシステムレイアウトを示す。密結合の位置の排気管において、2つの三元触媒(TWC1及びTWC2)が配置される。TWCの下流の及びTWCと流体連通している床下領域において、1つのハウジング内にHCトラップ及びSCR触媒が存在する。排気はエンジンから両方のTWCを通り、その後、排気が環境の外に流出する前に、HCトラップ/SCRの組み合わせを通って流れる。
本明細書に記載されるように、この用途は第1のブリックのuf−HCトラップ+第2のブリックのSCR触媒の組み合わせを備えた二重のcc−TWC(CC1及びCC2)を含んでいた。CC1及びCC2触媒は、それぞれ、0/2.69/0.14g/LのPt/Pd/Rh及び0/0.70/0.21g/LのPt/Pd/Rhを含んでいた。それらは両方0.67Lの容積であり、合計のCC容積は1.34Lとなった。uf−HCトラップ及びSCRは両方0.85Lの大きさであり、ufのために合計1.7Lとなり、共通のハウジング内に取り付けられた。全システム容積は3.04Lであった。HCトラップのPGM使用量は0/0.35/0.1g/LのPt/Pd/Rhであった。2007 Mini Cooper S用途はサイクル1及び2において燃料カットを有する。
この用途は本明細書で記載されるuf−HCトラップ+SCR構成を備える単一のcc−TWC(CC)を含んでいた。cc触媒は0/6.0/0.3g/LのPt/Pd/Rhを含んでいた。CCは1.4Lの容積であった。uf−HCトラップ及びSCRは両方0.85Lの大きさであり、UFに関して合計1.7Lとなった。したがって、全システム容積は3.1Lであった。HCトラップのPGM使用量は0/0.35/0.1g/LのPt/Pd/Rhであった。2013 Dodge Dart用途は、連邦試験検査工程(FTP)のサイクル1及び2における燃料カットを有する。
Claims (8)
- 化学量論的条件下で稼働するエンジンから排出される有害汚染物質軽減のための排気処理システムであって、エンジンアウトレット後の50cm以内の位置の1つ以上の三元触媒(TWC)が、組み合わされた床下(uf)触媒HCトラップ/SCR触媒装置を下流に伴い、
前記触媒HCトラップは前記SCR触媒の上流に配置され、
前記HCトラップの前記触媒は少なくとも20mg/L触媒のHC吸蔵容量を有するゼオライト材料を含み、
前記HCトラップは白金、パラジウム、ロジウム及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択されるPGMの組み合わせを有する酸素吸蔵材からなる触媒を含み、
前記PGMレベルは、7g/L〜0.4g/Lである、排気システム。 - 前記SCR触媒は、少なくとも0.25g/L触媒程度までアンモニアを吸蔵することができる、請求項1に記載の排気システム。
- 前記SCR触媒は、鉄、銅及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される金属とイオン交換されるゼオライト材料を含む、請求項2に記載の排気システム。
- 2つの三元触媒が互いに隣接して設置される、請求項1に記載の排気システム。
- 化学量論的条件下で主に稼働するエンジンから排出される有害汚染物質の軽減プロセスであって、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の排気システムが使用され、後続のエンジン運転のリッチ期間を有する減速燃料カットストラテジーが適用される、プロセス。
- 100℃〜300℃の比較的低温の排気状態の間に少なくとも1回前記減速燃料カットストラテジーが実施される、請求項5に記載のプロセス。
- 前記リッチ段階において、λ=0.80〜0.95が適用される、請求項6に記載のプロセス。
- 前記リッチ段階が3〜6秒間続く、請求項7に記載のプロセス。
