Description
本件出願は2007年10月10日付けで日本国特許庁に出願された特願2007−264007号に基づく優先権を主張する出願であり、その出願の開示はここに引用して含めるものである。
技術分野
本発明は、β型Si3N4結晶構造を持つβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末とその製造方法およびその用途に関する。具体的には、蛍光強度が改善された特殊な粒子形態を有する希土類付活β−サイアロン蛍光体粒子からなる蛍光体粉末と製造方法および用途に関する。
また、本発明は、粒子径2μm以上、アスペクト比1.3以下のα型窒化ケイ素粒子と、AlNを含むアルミニウム源となる物質と、Euの酸化物または熱分解により酸化物となる前駆体物質とを一般式 Si6-zAlzOzN8-z:Eux(式中、0<z<4.2、0.005<x<0.08)になるように混合し、0.05MPa以上100MPa以下の窒素雰囲気中、1700〜2100℃で焼成することを特徴とするβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末の製造方法に関する。
本発明のβ−サイアロン系蛍光体は、原料となるα型窒化ケイ素に特徴があり、粒子径が2μm以上、アスペクト比が1.3以下の結晶質のα型窒化ケイ素を原料とする。このようなα型窒化ケイ素は含窒素シラン化合物および/または非晶質(アモルファス)窒化ケイ素粉末を熱分解して得ることができる。含窒素シラン化合物としては、シリコンジイミド(Si(NH)2)、シリコンテトラアミド、シリコンニトロゲンイミド、シリコンクロルイミド等が挙げられる。これらは、公知方法、例えば、四塩化ケイ素、四臭化ケイ素、四沃化ケイ素等のハロゲン化ケイ素とアンモニアとを気相で反応させる方法、液状の前記ハロゲン化ケイ素と液体アンモニアとを反応させる方法などによって製造される。また、非晶質窒化珪素粉末は、公知方法、例えば、前記含窒素シラン化合物を窒素又はアンモニアガス雰囲気下に1200℃〜1460℃の範囲の温度で加熱分解する方法、四塩化ケイ素、四臭化ケイ素、四沃化ケイ素等のハロゲン化ケイ素とアンモニアとを高温で反応させる方法などによって製造されたものが用いられる。非晶質窒化珪素粉末及び含窒素シラン化合物の平均粒子径は、通常、0.005〜0.05μmである。前記の含窒素シラン化合物、非晶質窒化ケイ素粉末は加水分解し易く、酸化され易い。したがって、これらの原料粉末の秤量は、不活性ガス雰囲気中で行う。
得られたβ−サイアロン蛍光体の表面には、ガラス相が付着して、蛍光強度が低下していることがある。その場合には、焼成後、得られた蛍光体粉末を、酸を含む溶液中で酸処理を施すことにより、ガラス相を除去する。前記酸処理は、硫酸、塩酸または硝酸から選ばれる酸溶液に前記β−サイアロン蛍光体を入れ表面のガラス層を除去する。酸濃度は0.1規定から7規定であり、好ましくは、1規定から3規定である。過度に濃度が高いと酸化が著しく進み良好な蛍光特性を得られなくなる。濃度を調整した酸溶液に、サイアロン粉末を溶液に対し5wt%入れ、攪拌しながら、所望の時間保持する。洗浄後、サイアロンの入った溶液をろ過して水洗によって、酸を洗い流して乾燥する。酸処理によって表面のガラス相が除去され、蛍光強度が向上する。
(実施例1)
はじめに、本発明に必要なα型窒化ケイ素を作製した。その方法は次の通りである。四塩化ケイ素とアンモニアを反応させ、シリコンジイミドを作製し、これを窒素ガス雰囲気下、1100℃で加熱分解して非晶質窒化ケイ素粉末を得た。この非晶質窒化ケイ素を炭素製の坩堝に入れて、室温から1200℃までを1時間、1200℃から1400℃まで20℃/hで昇温し、1400度から1500℃まで1時間で昇温し、1500℃で1時間保持した。得られたα型窒化ケイ素の粒子を図1Aに示す。粒子径は5.6〜8.0μm、アスペクト比(長軸/短軸の比)は1.0〜1.2であった。
使用したα型窒化ケイ素の粒子径を代える以外は、実施例1と同じ方法によって、β−サイアロン蛍光体を作製した。
結果を表1に示す。実施例2の原料のα型窒化ケイ素の形態を図2Aに、また、得られたβ−サイアロン蛍光体を図2Bに示した。
実施例1で得たβ−サイアロン1gと、2規定の硝酸溶液50gをビーカーに入れて、5時間攪拌した。その後、液をろ過し、水洗後、残渣を回収し、120℃で乾燥させた。この粉末の蛍光特性を表1に示した。酸洗浄によって、蛍光強度が向上した。
実施例1で得たβ−サイアロン1gをアルミナの坩堝に入れて、窒素0.1Mpaの雰囲気で、500℃1h加熱処理した。その後、炉冷して、試料を取り出し、蛍光特性を評価した。結果を表1に示す。加熱処理によって、蛍光特性が向上した。
使用したα型窒化ケイ素の粒子径を小さいもの代える以外は、実施例1と同じ方法によって、β−サイアロン蛍光体を作製した。
表1に結果を示した。比較例1は窒化ケイ素として0.12〜0.5μmの結晶質α型窒化ケイ素を用いた。
Claims (7)
- β型Si3N4結晶構造を持つ結晶にEu(ユーロピウム)が固溶したβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末であり、原料を焼成して得られ、一次粒子の粒子サイズが3.0μm以上12μm以下であり、アスペクト比の平均値が1.5未満であり、粒度分布曲線におけるメジアン径(D50)が4.6μm以上5.8μm以下であることを特徴とするβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末。
- 前記β−サイアロン蛍光体が、一般式 Si6-zAlzOzN8-z:Eux(式中、0<z<4.2、0.005<x<0.08)で表されることを特徴とする請求項1記載のβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末。
- 前記β−サイアロン蛍光体が、一般式 Si6-zAlzOzN8-z:Eux(式中、0<z≦1.0、0.005<x<0.08)で表されることを特徴とする請求項1記載のβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末。
- アスペクト比が2を超える蛍光体粒子を含まない請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末。
- 300〜500nmの波長の光を発光するLEDと、前記LEDの光を吸収するように配置された請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末とから構成される照明器具。
- 励起源と請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のβ−サイアロン蛍光体粉末とから構成される画像表示装置。
- 励起源が電子線、電場、真空紫外線、紫外線であることを特徴とする請求項6記載の画像表示装置。
