Abstract
【解決手段】Alと、Oと、Rの元素(ただし、Rは、Mn、Ce、Pr、Nd、Eu、Tb、Dy、Er、Tm、Ybから選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素)とを含み、必要に応じてNの元素を含む前駆体化合物に対して、還元窒化雰囲気中で加熱処理を施し、前駆体中の酸素含有量を減少させるとともに窒素含有量を増加させることによって、蛍光体粉末を合成する。

の関係を満たすまで処理を行うのがよい。これより酸素が多いと輝度が高く良質な蛍光体または蛍光体用のホスト結晶が得られ難い。ここで、O/(O+N)が0となるときは、酸化物が実質的にない場合である。
0 ≦ O /(O + N) ≦ 0.20
の関係を満たす組成が、蛍光体のホストとした場合の輝度が高くなるため光学用途として好ましい。

実施例1の手順に従いMnを添加しない前駆体を作製し、実施例1と同じ条件で還元窒化反応処理を行った。
得られた合成物は原料粉末の形態を保っており、メノウ乳鉢で簡単にほぐすことができた。BET法による比表面積計を用いて測定した比表面積は41m2/gであり、この値から計算した粒径は45nmであった。この粉末に標準試料としてSiを添加し、X線回折測定を行った。得られたX線回折パターン(図6)を調べた結果、AlNの単相であった。X線から求めた格子定数は、a=3.1110(1)Å、c=4.9796(2)Åであった。また、合成物20mgをスズカプセルに投入し、これをニッケルバスケットに入れたものを、LECO社製TC−436型酸素窒素分析計を用いて、粉体試料中の酸素と窒素を定量した。測定結果は、窒素含有量は31.3質量%、酸素含有量は6.96質量%であり、前駆体と比べて窒素含有量は増加し、酸素含有量は減少したことが確認された。
合成物に254nmの波長の紫外線を照射したところ、目視で蛍光は観察されなかった。
実施例1の手順に従いMn濃度の異なる前駆体の還元窒化反応処理を行ったところ、表1に示す粉末が得られた。
Claims (12)
- 窒化物または酸窒化物を主成分とする蛍光体を製造する方法であって、Alと、Oと、Rの元素(ただし、Rは、Mn、Ce、Pr、Nd、Eu、Tb、Dy、Er、Tm、Ybから選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素)とを含み、必要に応じてNの元素を含む前駆体化合物に対して、還元窒化雰囲気中で加熱処理を施すことを特徴とする方法。
- 前記窒化物または酸窒化物を主成分とする蛍光体中に含まれる酸素と窒素の重量比が、
0 ≦ O /(O + N) ≦ 0.20
の関係を満たすことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記窒化物または酸窒化物を主成分とする蛍光体が、AlN、AlNポリタイプ(結晶構造中にAlN4からなる4面体ユニットを有する結晶)、あるいはAlNと同一の結晶構造を有する固溶体結晶を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記前駆体化合物が、酸化アルミニウムと、R元素を含む化合物とを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記前駆体化合物が、酸化アルミニウム粉末の表面にR元素の化合物が付着した複合体を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記前駆体化合物の平均粒径(比表面積換算径)が20nm以上500nm以下であり、前記窒化物または酸窒化物を主成分とする蛍光体の平均粒径が20nm以上500nm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。

- 前記前駆体中の炭素元素の含有量が5質量%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記加熱処理の温度が、1000℃以上1800℃以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- Rの元素として、Mnを含む請求項1に記載の方法。
