Description
プリントヘッドから基材上にインクを噴射するステップと、
印刷されたインクから溶剤の少なくとも一部を蒸発させるステップと、
印刷されたインクを化学線に曝露して、放射線硬化性材料を硬化させるステップと
を含む。
本発明のインクは、改変されたインクバインダー(binder)系を含む。インクにおける放射線硬化性材料および光開始剤の存在は、乾燥させたインクフィルム内に架橋が形成され、したがって、様々な基材への接着性が改善され、溶剤への耐性が改善され得ることを意味する。一方、少なくとも30重量%の有機溶剤の存在は、溶剤系インクジェット用インクの有利な特性が維持されると期待されることを意味する。
式中、Aは(CH2)1〜6を表し、R1およびR2は、同じでも異なっていてもよく、1〜4個の炭素原子を有する直鎖または分岐アルキル基であってよいC1〜C4アルキル、好ましくはメチルまたはエチル、最も好ましくはメチルを表す。二塩基性エステルの混合物を使用することができる。
従来の溶剤系インクでは、プリンターの生産性は、バルク溶剤を排出するその系の能力に左右される。多すぎる湿潤インクが媒体上に沈着されると、インクが流れて、印刷された画像を不鮮明にする。この理由から、高蒸気圧を有する溶剤が、インクにおいては好ましい。しかし、溶剤蒸気圧が高すぎると、プリントヘッドノズルプレート上でのインクの乾燥がノズルを閉塞するおそれがある。溶剤の選択におけるこの妥協は、生産性を制限する。
i)本発明のインクジェット用インクを基材上にインクジェット印刷するステップと、
ii)溶剤をインクから蒸発させるステップと、
iii)インクを低圧水銀灯からのUV放射線に曝露するステップと
を含む方法を提供する。
表1〜4に示した組成を有する、ブラック、シアン、マゼンタおよびイエローのフリーラジカル硬化性インクジェット用インク配合物(実施例1〜12)、マゼンタのカチオン硬化性インクジェット用インク(実施例13)、ならびに比較用シアン、マゼンタ、イエローおよびブラックのインクジェット用インク配合物(比較例1〜4)を、所与の量で構成要素を混合することによって調製した。これらの量は、インクの総重量に対する重量パーセントとして示される。

表7に示した組成を有する無色インクジェット用インク配合物(実施例14)を、所与の量の構成要素を混合することによって調製した。これらの量は、インクの総重量に対する重量パーセントとして示される。
表9および10に示す組成を有する、本発明のシアンインクジェット用インク配合物(実施例15および16)および比較用シアンインクジェット用インク配合物(比較例5)を、所与の量で構成要素を混合することによって調製した。
インクフィルムを、以下に示す通り硬化度について評価し、採点した。
5=フィルムは完全に乾燥し、指の爪で引っ掻いても除去できない
4=フィルムは乾燥するが、表面は柔らかく容易に跡がつく
3=フィルムは乾燥するが柔らかく、指の爪で引っ掻いて除去できる
2=フィルムは部分的に硬化するが、基材から離れてべたつくことがある
1=曝露後もフィルム特性に変化はなく、フィルムは湿潤している
インクフィルムを、イソプロピルアルコールに浸した柔らかい布で摩擦した。最初の色の除去および次いでフィルムの不具合に対する往復摩擦の数を記録した。

Claims (12)
- インクの総重量に対して50重量%〜80重量%の有機溶剤、放射線硬化性材料、光開始剤および顔料分散液を含む、インクジェット用インクであって、
前記放射線硬化性材料が60°Cで、0.5〜20Pa・sの粘度を有する放射線硬化性オリゴマーを含み、
放射線硬化性材料が、フリーラジカル重合によって重合され、 前記インクジェット用インクが、100mPa・s以下の粘度を有する、インクジェット用インク。 - 溶剤が、グリコールエーテル、有機カーボネート、ラクトンおよびその混合物または、プロピレンカーボネート、およびプロピレンカーボネートと1つまたは複数のグリコールエーテル;または、γ−ブチロラクトンと1つまたは複数のグリコールエーテルの混合物、ならびにγ−ブチロラクトンと1つまたは複数のグリコールエーテルおよびプロピレンカーボネートの混合物から選択される、請求項1に記載のインクジェット用インク。
- インクの総重量に対して5重量%未満の水を含む、請求項1または2に記載のインクジェット用インク。
- 放射線硬化性材料が、インクの総重量に対して2重量%〜45重量%の量で存在する、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のインクジェット用インク。
- 放射線硬化性オリゴマーが、ポリエステル、ウレタン、エポキシまたはポリエーテル主鎖を含む、または、放射線硬化性材料が、(メタ)アクリレート基を有するオリゴマー、または(メタ)アクリレート基を有する2つ以上のオリゴマーの混合物を含む、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のインクジェット用インク。
- 放射線硬化性材料が、フリーラジカル硬化性でカチオン重合性の材料の組み合わせを含む、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載のインクジェット用インク。
- インクの総重量に対して20重量%未満の、450未満の分子量を有する(メタ)アクリレートを含む、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載のインクジェット用インク。
- 請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のインクが印刷された基材。
- 請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のインクジェット用インクの供給源を含むインクジェット印刷装置であって、
少なくとも1つのプリントヘッド、印刷されたインクから溶剤を蒸発させるための手段、および化学線源を含み、
印刷された基材が、放射線に暴露される前に、溶剤を蒸発させるための手段に暴露され、インクの放射線硬化の前に溶剤が蒸発するように、
前記化学線源が、印刷されたインクから溶剤を蒸発させるための手段の下流に位置する、
溶剤系インクジェット用インクを印刷するためのインクジェット印刷装置。 - 化学線源が、印刷装置のプリントゾーンの外側に位置する、請求項9に記載のインクジェット印刷装置。
- i)請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のインクジェット用インクを、基材上にインクジェット印刷するステップと、
ii)印刷されたインクから溶剤の少なくとも一部を蒸発させるステップと、
iii)印刷されたインクを化学線に曝露して、放射線硬化性材料を硬化させるステップと
を含む、方法。 - 前記インクが硬化する前に、印刷されたインクから溶剤の一部を蒸発させる、請求項11に記載の方法。
