Description

発明の詳細な説明
本発明は、一軸延伸されたプラスチックテープからなるコーテッドファブリックに関する。
さらに、本発明は、一軸延伸されたプラスチックテープからなるコーテッドファブリックの接着方法に関する。
また、本発明は、プラスチックテープからなるコーテッドファブリックによって構成された袋に関する。
一軸延伸されたプラスチックテープからなるファブリックは、包装産業において、例えば包装用袋の製造などの様々な用途に使用されている。箱型の袋として成形される当該包装用の袋は、WO95/30598A1に記載されている。当該文献に記載されたファブリックは、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ、特にポリオレフィン、好適にはポリプロピレンテープからなり、当該ファブリックの一面または両面が、熱可塑性合成材料、特にポリオレフィンで被覆されていてもよい。ファブリックは、環状織機において製造される管状および環状のファブリックであるか、または、縦方向の溶接部または結合シームを介して接着されて管状に形成される平らなファブリックである。
WO95/30598A1では、上述の一軸延伸されたプラスチックテープからなるファブリックを袋本体として用いて袋を製造する。当該製造方法においては、ファブリックの端部を折ることによって、袋本体の少なくとも1つの端部を長方形の底部に成形する。当該底部は、加熱によって、熱可塑性合成材料、特にポリオレフィン材料またはポリプロピレン材料の中間層を介して、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリックによって構成された被覆シートに接着される。加熱によって、底部におけるファブリックテープの材料厚の30%未満、および被覆シートの30%未満において、ポリマー分子の配向が乱れるが、材料の他の部分においては、ポリマー分子の配向は依然として存在する。別々の被覆シートの代わりに、底部と重なる袋本体のファブリックにおける折り畳みのタブを被覆シートとして使用してもよい。
世界中で10年以上に渡って、底部を被覆シートに接着するための上記条件を満たした当該ファブリックによって構成された袋が、あらゆる種類のバルク材を包装するものとしての価値を何度も実証してきた。
しかし、温度および処理速度が正確に守られたときのみ、全ての強度要件を満たした溶接シームを製造することができるという点が極めて重要であることがわかっている。
加えて、当該ファブリックを溶接するとき、プラスチックテープの結晶子融点を上回って当該テープを加熱しないように、注意を確実に払う必要がある。この理由としては、延伸されたテープの一軸方向の配向が、必要な溶接温度によって失われる結果、被覆されていないまたは単一層によって被覆されたファブリックのシームにおける強度が、加熱工具による溶接または超音波溶接の間に低減するからである。
本発明は、周知のファブリックよりも容易に溶接でき、かつ、溶接点の強度が高い、一軸延伸されたプラスチックテープからなるコーテッドファブリックを提供するという課題に基づく。特に、この新しいコーテッドファブリックは、超音波溶接または加熱工具による溶接によって溶接可能であるべきであり、これらの溶接処理を行ってもシームにおける高強度のファブリックを維持するべきである。一軸延伸されたプラスチックテープからなるコーテッドファブリックは、いわゆるFFS工程(Form・Fill・Seal;形成・充填・密封)においても使用することができる。
本発明は、コーテッドファブリック、コーテッドファブリックの接着方法、および、袋を提供することによって上記問題を解決する。従属項において、本発明の好適な実施形態を示す。
本発明によると、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ、特に、ポリオレフィンまたはポリエステルテープ、好適にはポリプロピレンまたはテレフタル酸ポリエチレンテープからなるファブリックは、熱可塑性合成材料からなる密封層によって被覆されており、当該熱可塑性合成材料の融点は、ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点よりも低い。当該コーテッドファブリックは、溶接に最適である。溶接において、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープが当該ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点を超えるまで加熱されることはないことを鑑みると、密封層の側から加熱する必要がなく、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリックを介して密封層に熱を加えることができる。生成された溶接シームは、高い強度を示す。
WO95/30598には、ファブリックのコーティングの実施形態、および互いの接続が開示されている。例えば、WO95/30598の図9は、テープファブリックによって構成された被覆シート、およびポリプロピレンなどのポリオレフィンのコーティングが、テープファブリックと同ポリオレフィンのコーティングとからなる袋のタブによって、互いに接着するという変形例を示す。この目的のため、互いに対向するコーティング側を加熱して、2〜40μmの浸入深さまでプラスチック化させ、2つの冷却されたロールを介して牽引し、層3b,4bを互いに押し付ける。1対の冷却されたロールが必要な冷却を行うので、テープファブリックは、熱による損傷を継続的に受けることはない。コーティング側から加熱するので、主にコーティングが加熱され、その結果、テープは、低深度までしか分子鎖の配向を失わない。WO95/30598の図12に記載されたように、上述のようなコーテッドファブリックの加熱による溶接は、ファブリックのうちの1つのみが被覆されている場合に実施されてもよい。そのように行う場合、被覆されていないファブリックは、熱溶接によって被覆されたファブリックに、堅く接着される。
WO95/30598には、EVAとして一般的に知られる、エチレンと酢酸ビニルとの共重合体を、熱可塑性合成材料、具体的にはポリオレフィン材料からなるファブリックの被膜に加えることができることが記載されている。上記EVAは、ポリエチレンよりも低い融点をもつ。EVAを加えることによって、コーティングの溶接性が著しく向上する。しかし、当該文献には、EVAの添加の割合、および融点について詳述されていない。特に、コーティングの融点がファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点よりも低くなる場合のみファブリック側からの溶接が可能になるが、WO95/30598ではそうなるようにEVAの量を添加するということは検討しておらず、全く想定していない。
本発明に係る一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリック上に密封層を設けるときに生じる問題は、多くの場合、当該密封層が一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリックに接着しにくいということである。特に、融点が十分に低い純ポリエチレンは、ポリプロピレンから製造されたテープには接着しない。実際市販されており、テープ材料への十分な接着性、および十分に低い融点を示す、特殊でない材料を密封層として使用可能にするために、本発明の実施形態において、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープと密封層との間に、ファブリックおよび接着層の両方に対して接着し易いポリマー材料からなる接着層を配置することが想定されている。溶接中の扱い易さを向上させるために、好適には、接着層の融点が密封層の融点よりも高い。
本発明に係るコーテッドファブリックのさらなる実施形態では、溶接の工程パラメータをより自由に調節することができる。本実施形態では、ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点は、120℃よりも高い。
本発明の実施形態に係る、廉価だが優れたコーテッドファブリックにおいて、密封層は、融点の低いポリエチレンを有する。また、密封層は、DuPont社製のSurlyn(登録商標)1652−Eの製品など、低い融点をもつ特別なポリマー層として設計されてもよい。当該製品は、確かにポリエチレン層より高価であるが、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリックへの接着のための接着層を必要としない。
本発明の好適な実施形態では、接着層はテープ材料に非常によく結合するポリプロピレンを備える。したがって、40%容量以下のポリエチレン、好適には20%容量以下のポリエチレンをポリプロピレンに加えることができる。
コーテッドファブリックの処理可能性、および十分な強度には、延伸されたポリマーテープの厚さが20μm〜80μmの範囲内である場合が好適であることがわかった。さらに、密封層、および任意で設けられる接着層は、それぞれ、5μm〜60μmの範囲内の厚さを有することが好ましい。
本発明は、溶接工程を用いて本発明に係るコーテッドファブリックを結合する方法を含む。このとき、密封層が互いに対向するように、2枚のコーテッドファブリックを互いの上に配置する。ファブリックのうちの少なくとも1枚をファブリック側、すなわち外側から、密封層の融解が生じるまでの間、ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点未満の温度まで加熱し、当該層は、融解中に相互接続する。融解した密封層の接続は、溶接部材によって直接行ってもよく、または、1対のロールなどの、別途の圧力生成手段によって圧力を加えて行ってもよい。このとき、当該1対のロールを冷却しておいてもよい。このとき、超音波アクチュエータすなわち超音波溶接を用いて、加熱部材すなわち加熱工具による溶接を用いて、超音波放射器すなわち超音波溶接を用いて、または、レーザービーム源すなわちレーザービーム溶接を用いて、加熱する。
本発明はまた、袋本体と被覆シートとを備えた袋を有しており、当該袋本体と被覆シートとのそれぞれが、本発明に係るコーテッドファブリックによって構成されている。当該袋および被覆シートは、熱風溶接などによって部分的に互いに結合されているので、ファブリックテープはその分子鎖の配向を維持する。
図面を参照し、限定されない例示の実施形態に基づいて本発明を詳述する。

図1は、本発明の第一実施形態に係るコーテッドファブリック11の断面図である。コーテッドファブリック11は、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ12a,12b、特に、ポリオレフィンまたはポリエステルテープ、好適には、ポリプロピレンまたはテレフタル酸ポリエチレンテープからなるファブリック12を備える。例示されたポリマーテープ12a,12bは、ファブリック12の縦糸および横糸を形成する。テープファブリック12は、熱可塑性材料からなる密封層13で被覆されており、当該密封層の融点は、ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点よりも低い。例えば、テープ12aおよび12bは、ポリプロピレンからなり、その結晶子融点は160℃より高い。第一変形例では、密封層13はポリエチレンからなり、その融点は約105℃である(LD−PE)。ポリエチレンは、ポリプロピレンに接着しにくいという欠点をもつ。本発明のコーテッドファブリックの第二実施形態は、当該欠点を排除し得る形態であり、図2を参照しながら下記に詳述する。しかし、ポリエチレンの代わりに、低い融点を示し、かつ、ポリプロピレンに適切に接着する特別なポリマーを密封層13に使用することも好適である。例えば、DuPon社製のSurlyn(登録商標)1652−Eという製品は、適した特別なポリマーであると実証されている。当該製品の融点は約100℃である。
図2は、本発明の第二実施形態に係るコーテッドファブリック11'を示す。コーテッドファブリック11'も同様に、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ、特に、ポリオレフィンまたはポリエステルテープ、好適には、ポリプロピレンまたはテレフタル酸ポリエチレンテープからなるファブリック12と、熱可塑性材料からなる密封層13とを備える。密封層13の融点は、ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点よりも低い。コーテッドファブリック11'の本実施形態が上記第一実施形態と異なる点は、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリック12と密封層13との間に、当該ファブリック12および密封層13の両方に接着し易いポリマー材料によって構成された付加的な接着層14が設けられていることである。好適には、接着層14の融点は、密封層13の融点よりも高い。好適には、接着層14は、40%容積以下のポリエチレン、好適には、20%容積以下のポリエチレンを加えたポリプロピレンを含む。
本発明に係るコーテッドファブリック11,11'は、溶接による相互接続に非常に適しており、溶接継ぎ手の強度は高い。したがって、当該ファブリックは、WO95/30598に記載されたように、袋、特に箱型の袋、または箱型のバルブバッグに特に適する。しかし、WO95/30598に記載されたファブリックとは対照的に、コーテッドファブリック11,11'は、超音波溶接、加熱工具による溶接、赤外線溶接、またはレーザービーム溶接に好適である。当該溶接工程のうちの一つを用いて、平らなファブリックを縦方向に接着させ、環状のファブリックを形成することができる。本発明に係るコーテッドファブリックの他の適用分野としては、形成・充填・密封(FFS)工程がある。
図3は、図2に示したコーテッドファブリック11'の2つの相互溶接を概略的に示す。まず、密封層13および13が互いに対向するように2つの被覆されたファブリック11'および11'を互いの上に配置する。そして、溶接部材15,16のうちの少なくとも1つを用いて、コーテッドファブリック11',11'のうちの少なくとも1つを、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリック12の側、すなわち外側から、ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点未満の温度(矢印T)まで加熱する。密封層13が融解するまで加熱し、当該加熱によって、密封層13は、点線で示した部分18のように互いに堅く接着する。1対の冷却されたロール17,17による加圧によって、融解した密封層13,13の接続が達成される。しかし、溶接部材15,16を用いて直接加圧を行ってもよい。よりわかりやすく言えば、溶接工程の間に、2つのコーテッドファブリック11',11'が均一な速度にて溶接部材15,16を通って外へ、すなわち、図3を参照すれば、図面の平面から外へ、出る。溶接工程を超音波溶接として構成する場合、溶接部材15を超音波アクチュエータとして設計し、当該溶接部材15と対をなす溶接部材16をアンビル形状に成形する。溶接工程を加熱工具による溶接として構成する場合、溶接部材15を加熱部材として設計し、溶接部材16を加熱部材または軸受けとして設計する。溶接工程を赤外線溶接またはレーザービーム溶接として構成する場合、溶接部材15を赤外線放射器またはレーザービーム源として設計する。
図5は、本発明に係る箱型の袋10を示す。袋10は、本発明に係る2層または3層のコーテッドファブリック11,11'(図1および図2参照)からなる袋本体1によって構成されている。本実施形態では、コーテッドファブリックは環状のファブリックとして設計されている。端面、すなわち当該箱型の袋の底部および上部は、袋本体1の折り畳みタブ4,4',5,5'によって形成されている。点線によって示したように、タブ4および5は、互いにごく僅かに上方に突出している。さらに、タブ5',4,5の間にバルブ2がそれぞれ配置されており、当該バルブは、ファブリックまたはフィルムなどのシート状の材料または管(筒)状の材料によって構成され、これによって袋が充填される。袋10を充填する場合、端面に対して充填材料が与える圧力によって、バルブ2が閉じる。上記と同様に本発明に係る2層または3層のコーテッドファブリック11,11'からなる、被覆シート3をタブ4,5上に溶接する。この目的のために、下記に示した熱風溶接、または上述した超音波溶接、加熱工具による溶接、超音波溶接またはレーザービーム溶接などの溶接工程のうち、1つを用いる。本発明に係る袋10の特定の特徴は、被覆シート3が上に溶接された後、密封層13および任意で設けられる接着層14のみが(完全または部分的に)融解するので、テープにおける分子鎖が本質的にその配向を維持していることにある。したがって、袋10は驚くべき強度を示す。
図6は、本発明のさらなる実施形態に係る袋10'を示す。図5と異なる点は、主に、袋本体1'として、平らなファブリックが、その縦方向の縁9,9が縦方向の溶接部または結合シームに接着されることによって、管状に形成されていることにある。
図4には、被覆シート3に袋本体1の端面を接着する熱風溶接工程を概略的に図示している。本例示の実施形態では、袋本体1および被覆シート3が、図2に示したように3層のコーテッドファブリック11'によって構成されている。被覆シート3を袋本体1に供給し、一方で、被覆シート3と袋本体1との両者が、互いに押し合う1対の冷却されたロール8,8を介してF方向に牽引される。図示していないノズルを介して、袋本体1と被覆シート3との間に熱風Hを吹き込む。熱風によって、互いに対向しているコーテッドファブリック11',11'の密封層が融解する。2つのコーテッドファブリック11',11'の密封層13,13が確実に融解し、任意で設けられる接着層14(図2参照)を設けた場合はこれも融解するが、ファブリック12,12のテープは融解しない(または、ごく僅かしか融解しない)ように、熱風Hの温度および搬送速度Fを調節する。融解した密封層13,13は、2つのロール8,8の接触圧力によって接着し、それと同時に、ロール8,8を冷却することによって冷却されるので、ファブリック12,12のテープは融解しない。
したがって、テープがその分子鎖の配向を全く、または殆ど失わないので、熱風溶接工程によって顕著な強度の低減が生じない。

Claims (17)

  1. 一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなるファブリック(12)を有するコーテッドファブリック(11,11')であって、当該ファブリック(12)が熱可塑性合成材料からなる密封層(13)に被覆されており、当該熱可塑性合成材料の融点が上記一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)のファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点よりも低いコーテッドファブリックを接着する方法であって、
    密封層(13)が互いの上に対向するように2つのコーテッドファブリック(11,11')を配置し、上記コーテッドファブリック(11,11')のうちの少なくとも1つを、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなる上記ファブリック(12)の側から、上記密封層(13)が融解するまで、上記ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点未満の温度まで加熱することを特徴とする方法。
  2. 一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなるファブリック(12)が、ポリオレフィンまたはポリエステルテープを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
  3. 一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなるファブリック(12)が、ポリプロピレンまたはテレフタル酸ポリエチレンテープを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
  4. 上記ファブリック(12)と上記密封層(13)の両方に接着し易いポリマー材料によって構成された接着層(14)が、上記一軸延伸されたポリマーテープからなるファブリック(12)と上記密封層(13)との間に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  5. 上記接着層(14)の融点が上記密封層(13)の融点よりも高いことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の方法。
  6. 上記ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点が120℃よりも高いことを特徴とする請求項1ないし5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  7. 上記密封層(13)がポリエチレンを含むことを特徴とする請求項1ないし6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  8. 上記接着層(14)がポリプロピレンを含むことを特徴とする請求項4または5に記載の方法。
  9. 上記接着層(14)が、40容積%以下のポリエチレンを加えたポリプロピレンを含むことを特徴とする請求項4または5に記載の方法。
  10. 上記接着層(14)が、20容積%以下のポリエチレンを加えたポリプロピレンを含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
  11. 超音波アクチュエータを用いて、上記少なくとも1つのコーテッドファブリック(11,11')を加熱することを特徴とする請求項1ないし10のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  12. 加熱部材を用いて、上記少なくとも1つのコーテッドファブリック(11,11')を加熱することを特徴とする請求項1ないし10のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  13. 赤外線放射を用いて、上記少なくとも1つのコーテッドファブリック(11,11')を加熱することを特徴とする請求項1ないし10のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  14. レーザービームを用いて、上記少なくとも1つのコーテッドファブリック(11,11')を加熱することを特徴とする請求項1ないし10のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  15. 一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなるファブリック(12)を有するコーテッドファブリック(11,11')であって、当該ファブリック(12)が熱可塑性合成材料からなる密封層(13)に被覆されており、当該熱可塑性合成材料の融点が上記一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)のファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点よりも低いコーテッドファブリック(11,11')の、接着されたファブリック(12)の製造への使用であって、
    接着されたファブリック(12)が、
    密封層(13)が互いの上に対向するように2つのコーテッドファブリック(11,11')を配置し、上記コーテッドファブリック(11,11')のうちの少なくとも1つを、一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなる上記ファブリック(12)の側から、上記密封層(13)が融解するまで、上記ファブリックテープ材料の結晶子融点未満の温度まで加熱することによって製造されることを特徴とする、コーテッドファブリック(11,11')の使用。
  16. 一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなるファブリック(12)が、ポリオレフィンまたはポリエステルテープを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項15に記載の使用。
  17. 一軸延伸されたポリマーテープ(12a,12b)からなるファブリック(12)が、ポリプロピレンまたはテレフタル酸ポリエチレンテープを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項16に記載の使用。
