Description
発明の分野
本発明は、改善された層間接着を有する多層フルオロポリマー含有フィルムに関する。さらに詳しくは、本発明は、接着剤層を含有する中間ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーにより熱可塑性ポリマー層に接着されたフルオロポリマー層を含む多層フィルム;該多層フィルムから製造される物品;および、多層フィルムにより包み込まれた製品に関する。
多種多様な熱可塑性ポリマー、および該熱可塑性ポリマーから形成されるフィルムが公知である。このようなフィルムの重要な物理的特性としては、ガス、香りおよび/または蒸気(例えば水蒸気)へのバリヤー性などのバリヤー特性;および、その物理的特性、例えば、靭性、耐磨耗性および耐候性;ならびに、光透過性が挙げられる。
本発明は、当技術分野における上記の需要に対して解決策を提供する。本発明は、ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーを含む中間接着剤層により接着されたフルオロポリマー層および熱可塑性ポリマー層を含む多層フィルムを提供する。ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーがフルオロポリマー層および非フルオロポリマー層の両方に極めて優れた接着力を有することが見出された。本発明の好ましい実施態様において、熱可塑性ポリマー層は、エチレンビニルアセテート(EVA)コポリマーを含む。エチレンビニルアセテートは、EAAを上回る顕著な利益をもたらす。第1に、EVAは、約250°F(121℃)でシールされ、生産性の向上を可能にする。第2に、EVAは、EAAよりはPETに対して著しく良好な接着を形成する。第3に、EVAは、室温で透明な結晶であり、伝統的なパッケージング用途に使用可能である。また、任意的な紫外線光吸収剤の添加により、EVA保護されたEL製品は、戸外での用途に利用可能となる。多層フィルムは、また、保護パッケージングフィルム、例えば、保管用のバッグとして使用するためにも非常に有効である。
本発明は、
(a) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するフルオロポリマー層;
(b) フルオロポリマー層の第1の表面と接触し、ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーを含む接着剤層;および、
(c) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有する熱可塑性ポリマー層を含み、接着剤層がフルオロポリマー層の第1の表面および熱可塑性ポリマー層の第1の表面と接触した状態で位置決めされるように、前記熱可塑性ポリマー層が、フルオロポリマー層に接着されている多層フィルムを提供する。
(a) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するフルオロポリマー層を用意する工程;
(b) フルオロポリマー層の第1の表面をコロナ処理する工程;
(c) ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーを含む接着剤層をフルオロポリマー層のコロナ処理した第1の表面上に塗被する工程;及び
(d) 接着剤層がフルオロポリマー層の第1の表面および熱可塑性ポリマー層の第1の表面と接触した状態で位置決めされるように、第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有する熱可塑性ポリマー層を前記フルオロポリマー層に接着する工程;
を含む方法を提供する。
(a) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するフルオロポリマー層;
(b) フルオロポリマー層の第1の表面と接触し、ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーを含む接着剤層;および、
(c) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有する熱可塑性ポリマー層を含み、接着剤層がフルオロポリマー層の第1の表面および熱可塑性ポリマー層の第1の表面と接触した状態で位置決めされるように、前記熱可塑性ポリマー層が、フルオロポリマー層に接着されている、包み込まれた製品を提供する。
図1との関連では、本発明は、熱可塑性ポリマー層16に接着されたフルオロポリマー層12を含む多層フィルム10を提供する。これらの層は、中間接着剤層14により接着され、該中間接着層は、プライマー層とも呼ばれる。接着剤層14は、フィルムの隣接する層間、特に、フルオロポリマー層12と熱可塑性ポリマー層16との間に優れた接着強さを付与する。
実施例1
基本厚さ2ミル(50μm)を有するPCTFEホモポリマー層を注型し、続いて、基本厚さ2ミル(50μm)を有するEVA層とともに押出被覆した。EVA層は、Dow Appeel(登録商標)樹脂1181から製造した。接着力を改善するために、PCTFE層の1つの表面をコロナ処理し、、表面エネルギーペンまたは水接触角技術での試験により最小表面エネルギー45ダインを有するフィルムを製造した。
UV吸収剤を押出機に加え、EVA樹脂とブレンドした以外は、実施例#1を繰り返した。UV吸収剤は、ベンゾトリアゾールからなった。硬化5日後、接着強さは、680g/インチであった。
PCTFE層が厚さ4ミル(200μm)を有した以外は、実施例#1を繰り返した。硬化5日後、接着強さは、799g/インチであった。
UV吸収剤を押出機に加え、EVA樹脂と混合した以外は、実施例#3を繰り返した。UV吸収剤は、ベンゾトリアゾールであった。硬化5日後、接着強さは、787g/インチであった。
打ち抜きまたはハンドカットプロセスを使用し、実施例1、2、3または4のフィルムを2つの寸法的に等しい試験片に切断した。2つの試験片を使用して、エレクトロルミネッセント(EL)ランプを封入した。フィルムの各試験片は、各方向に、1/2’’だけ個々のランプより大きい幅および長さを有する。第1の試験片は、EVA側を上に向けて置いた。ELランプの個々の層は、ついで、EVA表面上に中心を向けて置いた。第2の片は、ついで、ランプ構造の頂部に中心を向けて置き、EVA側は、第1のフィルム片と同じ方向に、下向きとした。組み合わせた構造物は、次に、2つの駆動加熱ローラ間に置く。ローラは、250°F(121.1℃)〜290°F(143.3℃)に加熱し、圧力40PSIを印加する。その後、フィルムは、ローラを介して供給され、組み合わせた構造物は、互いに加熱溶融された。一度冷却すると、構造物は、ランプに適した寸法に正確にレーザー切断された。
実施例1、2、3または4のフィルムから、任意の所望の寸法を有する袋を作った。これらは、次に、均一に重ねられ、各フィルムの左、右および底部端は、加熱および加圧を使用して、互いに、シールし、左、右および底部縁を形成する。必要に応じて、頂部縁にジッパーを接着することができる。パッケージに製品を入れ、ジッパーを閉じ、頂部縁をシールした。左縁および右縁の内側角で、フィルムの頂部縁に、場合によっては、小さな引裂ノッチの切り込みを入れる。
種々の多層フィルムを製造し、最大および平均の接着強さについて試験した。各フィルムにおいて、基本厚さ2ミル(50μm)を有するPCTFEホモポリマー層を注型し、続いて、基本厚さ2ミル(50μm)を有するEVA層で押出被覆した。EVA層は、Dow Appeel (登録商標)樹脂1181A多層フィルムから製造され、PCTFEフィルムは、Honeywell International,Inc.からのAclar(登録商標)Ultra 2000であった。接着力を改善するために、PCTFE層の1つの表面をコロナ処理した。PCTFE層のコロナ処理した表面は、種々のウレタン:TDI比で製造した2液型ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーで被覆した。これらについては、以下の表1に記載する。この接着剤は、塗比重量0.5lb/連にてコータ/ラミネータ機器を用いてグラビア塗布プロセスにより塗布した。
実施例7〜11のフィルムと同様の多層フィルムを製造したが、異なる接着剤プライマー層を有した。接着剤は、KH-1プライマーであったが、その組成については、表2に概要を示す。これらのフィルムは、最大接着強さ320および平均接着強さ175を有していた。
好ましい実施態様を参考しつつ本発明を具体的に示し、かつ説明したが、当業者であれば、本発明の精神および範囲から逸脱することなく、種々の変更および変形をなしうることは、容易に理解するであろう。請求の範囲は、開示した実施態様、上述の変形例およびそれらについてのあらゆる均等物をカバーするように解釈すべきであることが意図されている。

Claims (6)
- 多層フィルムであって、
(a) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するフルオロポリマー層、
(b) フルオロポリマー層の第1の表面と接触し、ポリ(エステル−ウレタン)コポリマーを含む接着剤層、および、
(c) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するエチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層
を含み、接着剤層がフルオロポリマー層の第1の表面およびエチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層の第1の表面と接触した状態で位置決めされるように、前記エチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層が、フルオロポリマー層に接着されている多層フィルム。 - 請求項1に記載の多層フィルムであって、該接着剤層が、ヒドロキシル末端エステル−ウレタンプレポリマーを多官能性イソシアネートと、10:1のプレポリマー:多官能性イソシアネート比で重合させることによって製造されるヒドロキシル末端ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーを含む多層フィルム。
- 請求項1に記載の多層フィルムから形成される物品。
- 多層フィルムを製造するための方法であって、
(a) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するフルオロポリマー層を用意する工程、
(b) フルオロポリマー層の第1の表面をコロナ処理する工程、
(c) ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーを含む接着剤層をフルオロポリマー層のコロナ処理した第1の表面上に塗被する工程、及び
(d) 接着剤層がフルオロポリマー層の第1の表面およびエチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層の第1の表面と接触した状態で位置決めされるように、第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するエチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層を前記フルオロポリマー層に接着する工程
を含む方法。 - 少なくとも1つの多層フィルムにより取り囲まれ且つ包まれた製品を含む、包み込まれた製品であって、該多層フィルムが、
(a) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するフルオロポリマー層、
(b) フルオロポリマー層の第1の表面と接触し、ポリ(エステル-ウレタン)コポリマーを含む接着剤層、及び、
(c) 第1の表面、および、該第1の表面に対向した第2の表面を有するエチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層
を含み、接着剤層がフルオロポリマー層の第1の表面およびエチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層の第1の表面と接触した状態で位置決めされるように、前記エチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層が、フルオロポリマー層に接着されていることを特徴とする、包み込まれた製品。 - 請求項1に記載の多層フィルムであって、該接着剤層が該エチレンビニルアセテートコポリマー層に化学的に接着している多層フィルム。
