Description
ポリマーの「当量」(EW)は、1当量の塩基を中和し得るポリマーの重量を意味し、
ポリマーの「水和物積(hydration product)」(HP)は、膜中に存在するスルホン酸基1当量につき膜により吸収された水の当量(モル)数にポリマーの当量を乗じた値を意味し、
「高フッ素化」は、40質量%以上、一般的には50質量%以上、そしてより典型的には60質量%以上の量のフッ素を含有することを意味する。

があげられる。
Rは、典型的には、−O−CF2CF2CF2CF2−SO2Xまたは−O−CF2−CF(CF3)−O−CF2−CF2−SO2Xであり、最も典型的には−O−CF2CF2CF2CF2−SO2Xであり、式中Xは、F、Cl、Br、OH、または−O-M+であるが、最も典型的にはOHである。
本発明の実施例において使用されるポリマー電解質は、テトラフルオロエチレン(TFEと、米国特許第6,624,328号明細書に開示される方法により合成したCF2=CF−O−(CF2)4−SO2F(MV4S)との乳化共重合によって製造した。
20%固形分を含有する水/プロパノール懸濁液(40%水/60%n−プロパノール)から、ナイフコーティングによりガラスプレート上に、試験用のポリマー膜アセンブリを注型し、80℃で10分間乾燥させ、200℃で10分間アニールした。得られたフィルムの厚さは、約30ミクロンであった。次にフィルムをガラスプレートから取外し、ストリップに切断し、ポリエチレンバッグ内に入れて窒素でパージした。
膜サンプルをe−ビーム源(エネルギー・サイエンシーズ(Energy Sciences)CB300、マサチューセッツ州ウィルミルトンのエネルギー・サイエンシーズ社(Energy Sciences,Inc.,Wilmington,Massachusetts)に暴露した。1パスあたり2Mradに線量を制御した。サンプルに、全部で0、2または6Mradのe−ビームの線量のために、0、1または3パスを受けさせた。
0、2または6Mradのe−ビーム線量に曝露したサンプルについて、動的機械分析(DMA)によってTgを測定した。DMAでは、試験すべきポリマーのサンプルは、振動力を加えて、その結果生じるサンプルの変位を測定する試験装置内に固定される。この方法は、温度制御された環境で実行される。温度は、測定が行われるにつれて上方へ傾斜される。このデータから、装置は、通常、サンプルの弾性率(E’)、損失弾性率(E”)、および減衰率(タンデルタ)を、温度の関数として計算、記録および表示する。Tgは、タンデルタが最大であるように取られる。
Claims (1)
- a)式−SO2X(式中、XはF、Cl、Br、OHまたは−O‐M+であり、ここでM+は一価のカチオンである)に従う基を含有するペンダント基を含む高フッ素化フルオロポリマーを提供するステップと、
c)前記フルオロポリマーを、30ミクロン以下の厚さを有する膜に形成するステップと、
b)前記フルオロポリマーを4Mradよりも大きい電子ビーム放射線に曝露して、架橋の形成をもたらすステップと、
を含む、架橋ポリマーの製造方法。
